As a first-time tourist with my wife to Los Angeles, back in 2014. it was mind-blowing to actually walk on the sunset strip and see the Whisky. My wife had LA as one of her bucket list cities, and man we just toured around that city, and she was soooo happy, and still is. Took a billion pictures, and then back to Las Vegas. One thing about visiting there, you can feel this weird vibe while in Hollywood. A combination of the glitter and fame, over the grittiness of a place where so many people have died horrible deaths. It's hard to describe, you just feel it? past all the tourists and seedy types on the strip. One thing I remember is not only how beautiful California is while traveling thought it, but how dark it is at night. Now I am from Canada, it gets dark here, but in California, it was something altogether
I LOVED SEEING THIS. THE DOORS AND THE GUESS WHO. TWO OF THE GREATEST BANDS EVER. I AM GOING TO SEE BURTON SEPT 27 IN ST CHARLES. I JUST WISH JIM COULD BE THERE TOO!
What a great experience for Burton to share with us! Pretty cool! But me thinks that there was a little more to the Jim story, lol, but gotta buy the book! 😂
I don't doubt Burton's story at all. But I wonder about the two girls. If they are still around they could corroborate the story. Regardless, I'm assuming the story is legit.
I do not believe this story. Everything he says - up to him walking into the "Whiskey" - sounds normal. Everything he says - after he walks out of the bar and gets in the cab - sounds like a fantasy, a dream, or wishful thinking. Sorry. But cabs don't randomly pick up people off the street and take them to mansions ... to sit beside Jim Morrison at the piano. Burton - and his former partner Randy Bachman - have lots of "personal" stories about hanging out with big stars in the 60's, Unfortunately many of those people are now dead. And there's no way to verify those stories. So... Believe what you will.
I met Burton at a 7-11 store in Winnipeg back in 1988 and he told me this story. All the details he told me and the details he mentions on this particular show are the same and match up pretty well. I've also heard him tell it on other interviews and the details of the encounter seem pretty legit.
I was a drummer on the road for over 25 years,,so trust me,,if you have a good heart and your energys are good and your mind is open to the sound of the wind,,when the magic happens,,it happens and you ride it out like a wave,,,an artist or entertainer will fully understand this because it will play out just like song,,,the world was more free back then.✌
okay to the person on here that doesln't Believe the story..l have a story.. Met Toby Keith in Vegas when l was Doing my productions. Toby had an event at the Hard Rock With Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock, Big and Rich, Gretchen Wilson All on stage. He then asked me On stage to do background singing And handed me a tambourine. After the show they were all going Out . I had quite a good talk with Toby keith backstage as l talked to him About my next production l was Doing I was asked to go out with them After the show as all of them We're super friendly except Kenney Chesney. Despite Kenney Chesney being a Bit stand offish l declined to go Out as l had a heavy work schedule The next day. My guy friend l went to the Hard Rock with said l should have Hung around . He called me and told a big story About they asked him to go out Afterwards and picked him up In a limo. He then said they took him to dinner With ten thousand dollar bottles of Wine. Even though l can say my story Was absolutely true l questioned His a bit. I guess we all have the right to Choose what we believe.
Okay maybe not this story. This story might be very well a tall tale for sure. But I would argue given the time and place and the context of the story these things were more prone to happen then than now. And we've all had strange things happen at some point that seem unbelievable. Maybe not to this degree of course. So I'll give you this one. But why in God's name would you doubt they hung out with and had experiences with other celebrities? The Guess Who were one of the most high profile Rock bands for a good period of time in the late sixties (well, 69), early 70s. Of course they had access to rock stars and celebrities. That just makes no sense at all not to believe. Those stories are not up for debate. Why would they be?
I absolutely believe this story. Stranger things have happened. In those days, I'm sure you could meet just about anybody if you were in the right place at the right time.
Now that's what you call being at the right place at the right time. Amazing story. Just amazing.
Loved Burton since 1968! Amazing songs, amazing vocals!...

Would have loved to see a Burton Cummings, and Bobby Kimball rock tour. Amazing
Yeah, I read it as well. Great to hear him tell it in person so you can see his face and his reactions.

I love Burton Cummings. Kinda lost it for the Beatles. Now I love to listen Guess Who. Randy is also a very interesting story teller!
Great stuff from Burton....especially the Jim Morrison face to face encounter!
