I dont comment often. But wanted to say. I love all your videos! I cant go fishing very often nowdays. So its nice to watch someone who does! Cheers clayton!
I’m stuck on bottom bouncing spinners man. Works like a charm. Never have luck with cranks, but watching these last couple cranking videos makes me wanna keep trying. You da man Clayton!
Troll a lot in Wisconsin, fun pulling 9 lines when kids are with having doubles, triple and quads can get crazy! Wife and I heading up by Winnibigoshish for a week…. Here’s to hoping I don’t have to troll!
Hey sorry if I missed it but where are you fishing that has an algae bloom like that? I'm in Michigan and my home water Hardy Pond gets nasty like that every year. Thanks!
I crank on my peddle drive kayak at 1.75 to 2mph. I like to turn the kayak to speed up the bait then turn back to slow the bait. I seem to always get a strick once i slow the bait turning to the side my rods on
A suggestion, Clayton: You have great boat control with your Garmin but you have so much line out behind the boat that the lure cuts the corners and doesn't always track the boat path which leads to a loss of control over your lure. Three ways compensate are, use a deeper running lure, smaller diameter line, or add weight. You want the least amount of line out and still get the lure to the correct depth. Hope this helps.
@@erics667 it’s all good. :). I love to learn as well and conversations like this are good. Remember this… I do NOT know everything there is about fishing. Cheers man!!
You can add a 3 way swivel up a few feet from your crank, when the floating weeds run down your line they will catch on the 3 way and not all the way down to your crank!
Great video again Clayton. I was surprised to hear you were spooled with 20lb braid and not lead core... generally, is the 7:1 ratio (7-ft line out : for 1-ft of water depth) the same as lead core with that set up? Thanks
Preordered my Kraken can't friggen wait. RELEASE THE KRAKEN. Also, Clayton, do you plan to utilize Garmin mapping to automate your course and follow contours?
Thank you again for a great video Clayton! I'll try to keep this short. Is the 63" shaft plenty of length for your boat even if fishing bigger waves? I wanted the Force but with the way they twist the cord around the top and how they built it the usable shaft length from gunnel to water surface was only like 43" for the 57". I have a Crestliner Raptor and fish everything from small lakes to the great lakes. I will fish in big waves. I was so happy they came out with the Kraken, I almost bought the new minn-kota but now I'm waiting. I'll definitely need the 75" but for the Kraken did they share the actual usable shaft length from gunnel to water surface with you for the 63" and 75"? I'm sure it's enough, I'm just curious. I'm sorry this was so long.
Drag setting can be very important when trolling lures or plugs!! On longer medium action rods, you can go a little tighter, because the rod will absorb most of the initial strike!! Heavy action rods , too tight, and the hook can pull out !! Always check ✔️ and adjust! lol 😂😆
140' of line should put you at the 25 foot of depth! Why aren't you adding a 2 ounce weight at 50' with a total line of 67' out attached to a board? That would also put you at 25' depth. That'd be 73' less line out! Efficiency? That's what I do on Lake Erie when I fish the 30fow. You'd have to put a planner board on of your choosing, but the turn around time to getting the lure back in on fish is a lot quicker
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors how was you ever running out then? I put a 16v powerhouse in for electronics noticed a difference compared to the 13.5 v lithium I had.
@@mikecrossman4010 I believe the head units are only capable of running just over 14volts, and when they have a larger power source they hit a threshold of what power they can hit. I truly don't know much about it though.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors Humminbird told me 18v is when they have power surge issues. Lots of pros running them 13.1 v is when livescope will have a loss in efficiency
At 8 dollars a tub minnows are pricing themselves out of my tackle box. I am finding my hard tackle outlasts and saves money compared to minnows and leeches
so glad garmin is smart and getting u on board
If only they can fix all the pore tweaks in the Garmin force
Been loving the Garmin products!!
Thanks for the tips. I have been pulling cranks for 40+ years and still learned a couple of things I want to try. Thank you !
A person can always learn :). I learn every time I head out :)😊

I really appreciate you watching the videos and I hope everything is good in your life.
My man makin old school new again with the trolling love it !!!
Great video, lots of good info! That Garmin trolling motor looks pretty impressive, the 24 or 36 volt option is brilliant!
Thanks Clayton enjoyed watching
Really enjoyed your video thank you! New subscriber from Minnesota! I love pulling cranks.

You da man Clayton!
I love cranks :)
Awesome video Clayton! Love seeing more walleye videos, and the footage of that bear was really cool!
Perfect timing. Needed something to watch and learn
Excellent tips
Same deal, I had one hit a crank right at the boat as I was reeling in. I was ripping it too :)

Plans. Do they include bringing along the walleye slayer Carter? 😂😂😂
Love you Clayton, keep rolling. Watching from Austin, Texas waiting to get back to Ontario fishing.
Cheers!!

One of the reasons I like trolling so much is exploring new shorelines. Always finding new structure and weed beds.
100%

Always appreciate the advice :). The turning adjustments I was making was very very little, but I know what you are talking about :)
Giving advice to Clayton Schick! Classic.

Gonna start walleye fishing here this week. Lot of floating weeds so I'll be gardening but hoping to bring home some fall Walter's!
Good luck out there!

Hello Clayton and thumbs UP!!
Do you ever go real old school and try silver Canadien Wigglers?
Hey Clayton, a you run Max mode or clear mode
Nice

id use 60-70ft on leadcore with a deep husky jerk
We had 20 lakes bloom with algea last weekend as well. WILD.
Crazy!!
Do you ever use planar boards?
When do you know when to use crazy colors over natural colors? Seems like I need to buy every color at the store just to get a bite.
Generally clear water natural colors, but that being said it feels like the fish want something different every day!! Hah 😂
the controller for the garmin sounds like a gopro battery dying or hitting record all the time. is there a way to mute the sound?
Haha never thought of that :). I am not sure if you can mute the sound.

i have a pretty high boat with a garmin 57" shaft. its good in 95% of situations. It does come out of the water in 4ft waves. A 63" would be amazing
What lake do you fish the most
I fish all over... Not really any lake I fish the most.

Loving the content... I never would've imagined that you would have water that green up there 🍻
SO green!
Within the first few minutes talking about the big motor and trolling motor….. why not back troll and use those wave wackers to slow you down?
I couldn’t handle all the beeping on the trolling motor.
Man the algae is thick on that river/lake 😮

What is the horsepower on that big motor you're trolling with and how slow can you troll? Thank you.

How do you not get weeds?
No weeds I guess where I was
Thanks Clayton...I always snag and lose my cranks 😢
