Hi Kirby, Just wanted to tell you how much I like your shirt in this video. The collar is so much more attractive than those short, widely spaced ones you have been wearing lately. The tie is lovely too.
Hey, Kirby I'm also a huge fan of ties also. Correct me If I'm wrong but isn't a seven fold tie really folded six times with an interlining counting as the "seventh" fold. Therefore, an unlined six fold would be what you are mentioning as a purely silk folded tie. With regards to bespoke ties, I actually thought the exact same as you regarding only length or widths for men outside the normal standards. If, however, you are super persnickety and/or love a specific cloth it can have many benefits. Customizing them depending on the size of knot you like and the kind you use, monogramming them with your initials by hand, having contrasting stitching on backend of tie, also having them made with the specific number of folds you want and either an unlined/soft lining/medium or heavy wool lining or even a cotton or wool/cotton lining etc. I think both the construction with regards to the folds, lining or lack of, and even the taper of tie's overall silhouette can have a big benefit based on each cloth being used! A grenadine for me is perfect with a four-fold as well as lightly lined for durability and self-tipped for it also unless you are more careful and want the airy light look of an unlined and handrolled tip! A heavy silk from Macclesfield however maybe stick to a classic 3 fold with light lining etc. Just some of the many fun things to play with. I think Sam Hober is hand's down the best as they are relatively affordable for the quality fabrics and being completely bespoke made. Many are cheaper than Drakes and other "higher end" RTW ties and just as good in materials and even better in construction!
Could you do a video on the wholecut lazyman vs an Oxford Laceup? The pros anc dons and what your own thoughts are? (I love the comfort of the Lazymans tbh!) Id love a comparison on feet aswell which really cant be found anywhere! I'm sure alot of the shoe enthusiasts would love that aswell! So is that a video you could consider in the future? Look forward to hearing from you!
Before I retired one of the services I was receiving from a vendor was in office tie sales. This vendor stopped in every season with new and needed stand by’s. For 20 years I never bought a tie in a store. Still love the channel 👍👍💯🇺🇸
Nice video and outfit today Kirby! Regarding ties, do you have any thoughts on tie clips actually? I notice you weren't wearing one, do you feel they are not necessary? I usually don't wear them often cause I find they can get crooked throughout the day and having to readjust it can get annoying.
Quick question: how tall are you Kirby ? I am 6'1" and with regular tie and 4-in-hand I can only dream about having thinner end of tie longer than to my chest :/ Should I consider "long" ties ?
Dear Kirby, I know you are now I’ve heard your say in other videos “...in my trademark white shirt.” I have to say that this is a bit too restrictive, and really doesn’t give you the ability to show additional sophistication in dressing. For example, the suit you are wearing would have looked perfect (should I say “better”) in a light blue or a softly striped blue/white shirt with the tie and suiting you are wearing. The Simono Goodard blue pocket square would have also been a perfect compliment to the blue/white striped shirt. Give it a thought.
Probably people Shaq's height would need a lengthened tie. Most of mine are between 50 and 60 inches and I have plenty of fabric left over, and I'm 6-6'1 tall.
Great video as always. It's so nice to hear your thoughts and advice. I like bow ties. I am surprised to hear that you expressed concern with wearing them too frequently. I'm not concerned at all that anyone would stereotype me for wearing them let alone anything else, even a boater!
Great video, Kirby. May I ask in your opinion, which tie width should one wear to remain classic. I know the width under 3 inches goes in and out of fashion, but for those widths from 3 inched to perhaps slightly over 3.5 inched. I try to keep all of my ties at 3.25. Thank you for your time.
Hi Kirby, I congratulate you on this channel. Your advise has helped me very much. I have a question regarding ties.I own about 70 ties and some of them are from some years ago when ties were wider than they are now. Most of them are Stefano Ricci and I don't want to get rid of them, I really like them! what is the acceptable/advisable with I can wear now? anything I can do with those ties to have them altered? or will they come out damaged? Also, I'm a 17 1/2 36 shirt size so I'm not small, when I wear a thinner tie I feel that the tie looks out of proportion I would appreciate your advise Thanks!
Great video. I have a question Mr Allison: I'm an economics student and I struggle to find a middle ground between formal and yet fit with my environment. What did you used to wear at college? And, when you don't want to wear suits how you dress? Thank you very much
Kirby, great video! I'd like to see content on building the proper suit wardrobe. Many of your viewers would benefit from how to efficiently build a great wardrobe. Thanks!
Kirby, thank you for your videos, and sharing your knowledge. I have a question about a polishing my shoes. I do use a brush for maybe the first few layers of polish but find that the brush isn't very useful in getting my polish to a mirror shine. The problem I have is that by buffing off the wax polish with a shining chamois the broguing on the toe becomes caked with polish by the time I have found my desired shine. How do I get a good mirror shine with out the wax build up? -Ray

Hey Kirby, I really enjoy these Q&A videos! I am curious about your preferred shirt weaves. You wear a lot of great looking white shirts, that seem to have a pretty simple weave. Do you have a preference for one over the other? I like twill myself because it gives it a little bit of extra thickness without being too heavy.
I have put a tie I didn't care about in the washing machine on hand wash cycle as an experiment and surprisingly came out fine. Point is, before throw it out, try spot cleaning and maybe get lucky.
Kirby could you please tell us why you like the end of the tie to be longer than the blade. I would always make sure of the exact opposite. I find that comment quite interesting. As always a very informative video. Thanks
I have an old custom made leather jacket that has been re-died. It leaves a black stain on my shirt collar. Do you know of some kind of leather treatment or conditioner that can be used to fix this issue? Regards Ken Sellick

Gentleman Gazette (Fort Belvedere) sells tie in three different size: small, medium and large. They only sell 3 fold tie, using fine fabric.

Excuse me Mr.Allison but can you make a video on white tie and morning dress. I would love to see your opinion on the matter.
Another great video
Wow, you're killing it in that suit.
Tiecrafters in NY does a great job cleaning ties. We used them when I worked at Hermes.
Mark Jones indeed! Their service is great and the owner really makes sure you're satisfied with their job. He's a very friendly gentleman.

Kirby, thank you for the recomendation on a dry cleaner, RAVE FabriCARE is about 20 miles from me.

Good evening Kirby...what kind of shoes are on the case behind you?
Great to see you in a summer outfit. Fantastic tie! Looking forward to learning your knot.
I am really looking forward to learning to tie that "Old Bertie" knot!
Thanks!
Check out Ted Danson in "The Good Place" for an example of how to be "the guy in the bow tie".

Enjoyed this video. I'm a total tie freak who owns at least 300 ties.
Friends, are there quality ties for the shorter man and what size would that be?

I think that 3.25 is a good classic width

Hello. I greatly enjoy your videos. Regarding bow ties, they solve the sauce issue in restaurants. Don’t you think? Thanks and regards.

Ken SELLICK Saphir Canadian should help seal the pigments.
Great video as always, with an amazing combination of summer colors - shirt, tie, suit and pocket square, just perfect.
Dear Kirby, Looking forward to your video on Tie Knots, also if you could share what makes a good tie and what you should look at while buying a tie
I've noticed alot of customs and traditions have a military origin, especially in a gentleman bearing and conduct.
Hi Kirby, I really enjoy watching your videos. Just wanted to say that.
Has you ever looked at microfiber ties? I think the synthetic tech has improved
can you do something on bow ties
Would you want a bespoke tie just so your entire outfit can be bespoke
"Lingth."
