they are pulling the tempo all over the place for some reason that totally escapes me but still what an incredible performance and what a distinctive sound from Anne-Sophie
Beethoven himself played the premiere with the great violinist Ignaz Schuppanzigh, with whom he studied violin. Peter Sheppard Skaerved's website has a fine essay about the composition of these op. 30 sonatas. Later, about the op. 59 quartet #1, Schuppanzigh is reported to have exclaimed that it was 'crazy music" with Beethoven countering that he wrote not for his contemporaries, but for future musicians.
Great performance. I now listen to one piece only, instead of several in a row. Watching the musicians play is infinitely fullfiliing, not possible with CD's.
Bravo, definitely a wonderful version, with so much soul...a tragic perspective for those who considered anne mutter to be simply a pretty girl of the music.
Beethoven had so much to say in the three op.30 violin sonatas. This one has the Heiligenstadt Testament confessional pathos in it. No. 3 is the lyrical masterwork after the struggle.
Apart from great musical sensitivity, intellect and passion, Anne-Sophie Mutter has a physical strength to her playing that is rare in female violinists, including some who might be technically more perfect. Could her magnificently-toned, athletic body be the reason for this?
I don t care about the interpretation, the piece keeps being the best music of the history, B E E T H O V E N _ I S _ U N D E S T R U C T I B L E (his music)
Much more musical than Vengerov's. It's like listening to a different piece from the two violinists. Mutter plays with less pomp and circumstance and more sensitivity.
Ich kann nur sagen, was ich Anne-Sophie Mutter auch einmal persönlich sagen durfte: "Danke" I can only say, what I allready once was able to say personally to Miss Anne-Sophie Mutter: "Thank you"
Well I've played this and I thought there was no cadenza in the finale, but for some reason at 25:05, she and the pianist play something I've never heard before. Maybe it's a different edition? I will also point out that the cadenza is the opening to the Beethoven Violin Concerto.
wmshockley you're wrong, mutter plays a cadenza that's not written in the score in the 4th movement. Please actually WATCH the video in full before commenting. Thanks.
Let's agree that nobody knows what is right. We are people of another time. The only thing we can tell now is whether we like it or not.Tastes differ. As for me, it is wonderful.
@@brianbernstein3826 It's funny that some people want to hear everyone play it the same way or something. (though I can't tell that it's very different)
I've watched this so many times, I don't even know....I love her, I love him, and I love BEETHOVEN!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful performance.

Wow!! Her is great violinist, Anne Sophie Mutter and Kyung Wha Chung are the better's in this music style!! I love her si much from México city....
I've listened to almost every performance of this Sonata UA-cam and this is one of my favourite. What an incredible sound and sensitivity!
She's one of my favorites
So challenging for both players. They both manage to express an inner angst that is so prevalent within the music so beautifully.
I Allegro con brio 0:47
II Adagio cantabile 7:44
III Scherzo: Allegro 18:53
IV Finale: Allegro - Presto 22:27
II Adagio cantabile actually starts at 9:22
Double thumbs up. She plays with her heart and soul!!!!
Beautiful! She was definitely getting emotional during the bows!
25:09 their musical inspiration is indeed incredible.
Beethoven violin concerto's introduction
Is being in the sonata.
Bravo, definitely a wonderful version, with so much soul...a tragic perspective for those who considered anne mutter to be simply a pretty girl of the music.
She's so much more than her prettiness! When I'm searching for a violin piece I always choose her, Augustin Hadelich and Pinchas
Wow so much music from two instruments and brilliant musicians... awesome.
"😯😯😯👍🏽 I like the beginning of the second movement a lot! 👏🏽" (-James)
Magnifique! Increible interpretación - Lleva el alma de la músiva en sus venas.
Anne Sophie Mutter is unbelievable

Very Mutteresque. Very Marvelous.

E' un xrescendo di commozione un effetto di ricordi di vita familiare, una lacrima sul passato che non ci sarà mai più-
Bravo!
OMG.. This is so nice!
🖤🎻🌺
what the heck was that cadenza in the 4th movement..hahah
and i,m black and love this
1st movement in C minor, 2nd in Ab major.......just like the 5th Symphony.

Meeeee
mee too, i,m studing this piece

Which video?
I agree. Mutter i exellent but Orkis is to much of an accompanist. Listen for exampel to Oistrak and Oborin it is a clear diffrence.

At least the sound quality isn't terrible
Can somebody explain the cadenza in the fourth movement?
There is no cadenza in the Finale.

Shigatsu wa kimi no uso?
That would be Violin Sonata no. 9
18:50 Scherzo
The pianist has the physic of a batler .....haha
with Mutter, he IS the butler;)
Andreas Winterhalter hardly. He is a wonderful artist in his own right collaborating with a wonderful artist in Mutter
Panagiotis Valais Beethoven sonata primavera

@eowawrzkiewicz Brava*
18:50 scherzo
It is a piano and violin sonata not a violin sonata.
The piano needs to be more present.
I absolutely agree. This performance is completely tasteless. To much Mutter, too little Beethoven.
the fuck is wrong with you. how could this be better. it's masterful
I tend to agree with nietsrot1. AS-M is extremely capable, but just tries to bend the music just a bit too much INHO.
Let's agree that nobody knows what is right. We are people of another time. The only thing we can tell now is whether we like it or not.Tastes differ. As for me, it is wonderful.

This is an entirely a-musical interpretation. Pompous. Uneducated. Ridiculous. Don't waste your money on Mutter concerts. Not worth it.
Sonata di immensa energia e pathos!
