In every video that I have seen covering the topic of nano texture that shows a glossy screen adjacent to a nano texture screen, the nano texture is visibly worse, with a distinct drop in the quality of the black levels. Yet every reviewer raves about how 'improved' the nano texture screen is. The issue is very simple, some people like Matt, and some people like glossy. I don't think there is much point in trying to convince anyone either way. For me, it's not even a debate. I buy glossy, and if it were not available for some reason, I would keep the existing computer. Refections? Position the computer so that there aren't any. Boom. Money saved, problem solved, image quality preserved.
That’s because it’s difficult to convey how effective the nano-texture display is via a UA-cam video. It’s recorded through a camera lens, hits the camera sensor, is color graded, rendered, and then uploaded and compressed via UA-cam. So sometimes the blacks will look hazier/more washed out than in real life. If everyone is raving about a feature, it’s usually a good feature… I encourage you to buy both, test side by side, and then form an opinion like I have to see the differences. You’re also forgetting to mention the fact that all of the side by side tests you see are in super bright/reflective environments to exaggerate the difference. Sure, maybe the matte screen looks “hazier”, but at least you can still see the screen clearly versus the awful reflections on the glossy.
I have a matte 32" 4K display I use with my PC. My room has black walls. The shades are usually rolled down. I prefer soft low-light. And still, I can sometimes catch a reflection of myself in the monitor. I can't imagine ever wanting a glossy display.
Cant compare videos with real life experience. There's a video by "ArtIsRight" who measured the color accuracy and contrast of both displays using Calibrate and the Nano display not only achieved the same results, but even better ones than the glossy. Colors dont look washed out in real life and text is maybe 5% less clear, something you wont even notice unless you have the devices side by side. But in contrast of that 5% less sharpness you get 90% less reflections and a lot less eyestrain, since you dont need to crank up your brightness so much in order to combat reflections. I never have my display above 40% brightness, even right next to a window. Its insanely good and I would never go back to a glossy screen.
I went and checked it out in person in the Apple store before pulling the trigger on the M4 MBP, to make the correct decision for myself. And I hated how nano display looked tbh. I'm happy to put up with some reflections for a display that feels more vibrant w better colors. It's all subjective I guess, but I much prefer glossy
Bought a M4 Pro (silver) base model with 1TB SSD. Love to have it!! Its standard glossy display works for me with no issues for day-to-day usage. In fact, MacBook's standard glossy displays are not as glossy as the other glossy displays out there.
I have 48GB of RAM on my MacBook Pro M4 Pro. It runs better when you don’t use swap as much. Also, the less you use swap, the longer the life of your SSD. The 1TB is nice because if you use swap memory, the drive is fast, so the Mac will be more efficient. I have a 2TB drive. Great video by the way
I own the 16 inch M1 Macbook Pro and now also the M4 Pro 14 inch Macbook Pro with the Nano Texture Display. Please don't worry, there are no differences in image quality. I've had both of them next to each other for weeks...The nano display only has advantages: less dirty, no reflections, same image quality
I’m still debating between 14” and 16”. I’m coming from a 16” 2019 Intel. Would be using for photo/video editing and productivity software. Any feedback on your feelings between the two?
@@rbvan Both are great devices and the decision is really very difficult. People now buy a Macbook because it is a great Apple device and less because it is a laptop. Ask yourself how often you are on the go. The 16 inch has a much larger screen, you will notice that it is the better device for stationary use, unfortunately it is much heavier and bulkier. If you notice that you are on the go a lot and no longer want to decide whether to take it with you. I always considered the 16 inch, the 14 inch will be packed straight away without thinking. Conclusion: at home you will probably love the 16 inch more, but if it is to be your constant companion (travel, cafe, university, work) the 14 inch is more practical. Of course you can take the 16 inch with you (it is a laptop :) ) but you will often think twice about whether to do it.
My only question is 14 or 16 inches I thought I needed the 14 for portability but after going in an Apple Store the 14 screen feels kinda small and the 16 doesn’t seem that big and can easily be carried too.
That’s my experience. I got the 14” m4 pro MacBook Pro and while portable I missed the 16” as I traded in my 16” M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I exchanged it for the 16” m4 pro MacBook Pro and it’s so much nicer to use as the display looks just right especially with resolution more comfortably. Also the weight wasn’t that much different! The 14” is still pretty chunky. The speakers are so much nicer too on the 16” and battery life as well.
You already have the answer to your question mate I'm going for 16 inches for the Macbook Pro because the fan noise will be noticably so much quieter than the 14 in, if this helps
@saulgood2366 I was interested in the 15 mba as well and it’s very thin and nice but the screen is not nearly as nice as the 16” and the speakers as well. But I do like the price but I want the m4 pro instead of the m3 as it’s the perfect time to upgrade.

@@Z3Chosen1 I've been building my own custom gaming PCs since 2011 - currently have an RTX 3080 and 13900K. Not really comparable as this is a laptop and that's a desktop PC. Editing performance is overall better on Apple silicon Macs IMO compared to PC.
I don't use a huge amount of plugins on Resolve so couldn't tell you.
I have a M3 Pro space black since a year and I can see very small scractches from what I would consider a usual use with a MacBook Pro which is a productivity machine and so goes in and out of the backpack 5 days a week, is moved from a room to another in the house, etc.
But look and feel is also important for a device that we spend A LOT of time for few years, so just need to pay a bit more attention than with the silver. Also, you’ll need to clean the outside and inside more frequently on the space black.
I wish they would have brought back Space Grey which was the best of both worlds in my opinion
For coding and developing, is 24 gigs of ram enough
you can never have too much ram
depends what kind of dev work
48gb is the minimum i would entertain for web / db dev
48gb min
@ I have 64gb which is enough 99% of the time for my needs. Last year I tried the M3 pro with 36gb. Wasn’t great and the memory bandwidth sucked - I felt it. If my work didn’t get me an m3 max last year I would have probably ordered an m4 pro with 48
thanks for sharing all this ... I have a M1 MacBook Pro base model , its awesome I do photography & video editing , no problem at all... not worth spending money unless you have it to burn
After a day or 2 without turning off your mac, your Ram would be maxed out.
but u have to pay for it
Tarkov!
I'd always upgrade the RAM for future-proofing the thing. My 32GB MBP with M1 Max will probably easily last me 6 years or so. And my memory pressure is orange already. If I had taken the lesser version I would've needed to upgrade the whole thing so much sooner.
M1 Max starts at 32GB RAM minimum. By "lesser version" do you mean M1 Pro instead of M1 Max?
Useless 11:00 minutes lifetime.. thinking about taking blue or pink toilet paper is a much more life changing
That's right, you seem like the kind of person to spend hours trying to decide which toilet paper to use. I also guess you need double the amount of a normal person - to wipe up all the sh*t that comes out of your mouth!
This video is soo wrong
Naw. i'll watch the other hundreds of videos from people who have already covered this ground. You are late to the game bro. Useless video
So why are you watching it ? And with the hundreds of videos on which you’ve lost dozens of hours watching, did you make your choice ? Or not yet and that’s why you’re here… ?
Nah, I'd rather actually USE the product for a few weeks before making this video. Otherwise, feel free to go watch a video made 15 minutes after the M4 Pro MacBook was announced and tell you nothing but what specs it has 😂
@@CreatedTechthis video is helpful bro I’m deciding between m4 or m4 pro ignore him
Pleb comment
Hater final boss, there will always be a need for people lookin at M4 Pros
