Well, if the midnight does not exist, the singer perfectly imitate that band. And if this is playback, then the singer is perfectly sync with video. Nah, seriously?
For everyone who's hoping to see them live, it's really worth it. Best gig I've ever been to. I saw them in London at the Roundhouse. The venue was great, but they made it all way better too. Lots of people united for synth, amazed by their talents. It was great, felt like a dream come true. Also, the merchandise is very high quality and there's all sorts of things you can buy! Bring a friend, so when they fall in love for The Midnight, they can have memories of their gig. Also, Gloria on stage is amazing, but just imagine Sunset.
Saw them in Austin on my birthday and it was the best day of my life! Tyler pointed at me and I got a jacket and some shirts!!!! I listen to them for hours everyday and they've even responded to me on Instagram...by far my favorite artist of all time.
This was the first Midnight song I heard and it was around the time I had moved to the US by myself. Really made my mood lift when things were rough. Still makes me smile.
The Midnight is almost perfectly tailored to this unique transition generation (Born between 74 - 84). This transition generation grew up analog and then immediately embraced digital while still young. No other age range / generation has been so perfectly aligned to advance technologically without suffering the early childhood developmental problems that we are witnessing with kids being exposed to screens from birth forward. The Midnight's Kids album is a mini Opera that perfectly encapsulates the experience. They are brilliant.
I relate so deeply to your comment. Born in 83, I grew up with a dad blasting "Donna Summer - I Feel Love" on Vinil at home and at about 7 years old a Game Boy fell in my hands. I feel like people around my age are the only ones who really feel comfortable with those 2 worlds you mention, analog and digital. A little older than that, and they never really quite feel at home with the lastest Google App from the store of their smartphone, a little younger than that and they will never know how it felt to rewind 10 times The Goonies on VHS ;)
What I find so fantastic about Synthwave is that it's based off of a specific strand of 1980s and 1990s pop music, yet it sounds like nothing from that period. It's its own animal, it's a distinctly 21st Century invention. Synthwave is truly something amazing!
I’m a metal head and discovered new retro wave last year and I’m hooked on this genre. I listen to The Midnight and Gunship to name a few, this music always takes me back to simpler times of the 80’s. Thanks guys for the music it always brings fond memories to the surface. Godspeed....
Saw them live in Dallas, best concert I've ever been to. I'm a hardcore metal guy whose been to countless concerts, but this band connected with me on a deep level. I will see them everytime they are in Texas.
It's funny to think that we used to believe happiness was awaiting for us in the future...the future has came..and it turns out that we already had the happiness in the past and we didnt even know it...thanks for taking us back there guys.... You're the best
The term Mono no aware, to which they refer on their site sums exactly this! The thing which makes this genre, retrofuturism and old ages (50s to early 90s, but notably 80s) so chilly and nostalgic in my eyes, also for those of us who were too young then or who didn't even experienced these ages at all is the optimism for the future. Nowadays, we are always hearing messages how the future will be hard and complicated because of the climate change, how it could cause migrant waves and things like that, and it looks super boring with all these electric cars and smartphones, while 40 years ago people were optimistic about future, looking forward to the great new age... from which we are a bit dissapointed, and therefore we look back. For the future which never was...
He's even better in Live, I mean, recorded sounds great but in real life is much greater than in spotify, I can tell you that! ah... and that sax.. dudeee
I have GOT to see The Midnight live. Just discovered them in the past year and turned so many others onto them. Such a great sound. Takes me back to carefree days of innocence and simplicity when friends were so much more connected by music.
I waited 25 year to listen the 80s music live like this thank you for making me feel younger ... geat band great voice great instruments and please stay in this level keep the music great please
This is such a lovely song, I cant express the feelings it gives me. *They always have those amazing sax melodies that keep me coming back since so many years*
GO BLUE!!!!!! I am from Italy born in 1980, this music speaks to me. So many 80s sounds! Once my fondest memories is wearing my mothers Antonello Venditti cassette of Venditti E Segreti. This album is pure 80s and is on UA-cam. Even if you don't understand the words, listen to the music, it's so up your alley.
The Midnight is one of bands I follow that is a sound-unheard instant buy whenever I get the Bandcamp notification. I listen to a lot of music, but only a select few get my money and support. They are just that good.
Saw them live in NY and they are AMAZING, i got goosebumps the whole time. That was also my first time ever hearing about them, had the great time. Ever since that day, I couldn’t stop listening to their songs❤️
Can't wait till we can all get back on the stage. The Midnight is the one live show I'm truly looking forward to going to see once this is all over. Such vibes. 💙
Whoa...that was really beautiful. So glad I stumbled upon this. I worked on that video Nathan B. made for Gloria, so I heard this song a million times that day. (thankfully, it's a good song). This live version tho... wow! The bass-y, sultry vibe is smooth. So fucking good! :)
I left the music business when Sony bought the world, but I know talent and musicianship when I see it. From my perspective, what makes you ( The Midnight ) able to compress your sound dimension and turn it loose is both a blessing and a curse for many. I was at the center of that revolution when all the dynamic forces came together, starting with the Beatles, to Disco and beyond. When business became the music, the writing was on the wall. All the fake music you can stomach, lip-sync losers, auto-tuned, and wholly owed human subsidiaries of Mr. Moto. You guys really are true rebels in the digital world. I don't see you as RETRO at all, but you are connected to where the sharp divergence took place. Those who are awake see it and know it. Thank you for sharing your innermost, Cheers, Doc
Can you elaborate on your experience of music's metamorphosis into a commodity? I'm young so I don't really have any first-hand perspective on this but it sounds like a really interesting topic.
@@RunFaster011 I will be glad to enlighten you where I can. If you are creative and make great art, you hope it will eventually be rewarded. A&R ( reps) use to have to hunt for prospective talent then work to develop them. Very few acts come out raw and ready to produce and stage. It is a grueling but rewarding process when everything is hitting all cylinders. It can also be costly, but those of us who fought the battles for the best of the best produced pure magic. When Sony bought CBS, they killed the development concept and replaced it with shove it down your throat tactics. The public will like and buy what we tell them to. It fractured the industry like glass. Go listen to classic rock and be amazed. Not because it's old, because it's true art.
The Midnight is a gift to all of us. If there were any justice they'd be Wild Stallyns from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, bringing peace to all humanity whilst aligning the planets.
Saw them live a couple of months ago before the pandemic really hit. One of, if not the best shows I’ve ever been to. They’re so incredible live, and hearing this song live made me fall in love with it. Can’t wait to see them again. Everybody stay safe 🙏🏽🖤
👍, love all their music, but this one, comeback kid, and collateral have always been a favorite, really, all their sings are like one big favorite. I like this slowed chill version of gloria. Makes me feel nostalgic for some reason...although this song is contemporary, it makes me think of when i was a kid in the 80s , as if his song somehow existed back then, and it takes me back.
My girlfriend is a clinical researcher, she's working on vaccines and giving everything she's got. When she gets home she's exhausted. I put on some of your music and she said it calms her down. Born in 77, and this genre just speaks to me like no other style of music. It makes me feel young again.
Same here. I was 1982

Same to me and I´m 25!

I saw them at Scala and the Roundhouse ❤ amazing. You'll find a short video on my youtube channel from Scala 😁
it's kinda weird seeing the actual person singing something youve listened to hundreds of times on spotify
Dude for real
You need to see them live.
Same.
Exactly how I feel. Pretty cool though.
So good
This was the first Midnight song I heard and it was around the time I had moved to the US by myself. Really made my mood lift when things were rough. Still makes me smile.
Where did you use to live. Also I know it's really late but welcome to the U.S
Sorry you had to move to the US, but grats you found The Midnight ;)
The Midnight is something special. I hope things are going OK for you. Living in the US can be hard at times, but their are some really good people
This song from its lyrics to its vibe is just pure euphoria for me
Hello. This song was the only nice thing I had when I went to study abroad to England. Truly the only reasons I didn’t loose it.

That is a profoundly correct, informed and astute use of "it's" and "its".
