The Midnight are more than just great, they are the must have 80’s style music. There is no other band like them and they never will be any to equal their style and charisma.
I hope they release a CD/DVD for this performance. My now wife, her roommates, and I had a hell of night watching it. Just an insanely polished live performance with so many nice little added live flourishes to already phenomenal tracks.
Saw them at swg3 in glasgow last night. They are unbelievable live. If you sit back and close your eyes it sounds like a studio recording! The crowd was electric and the midnight came back on for an encore and played 4 extra songs. The sound and band work so well together. Heres to a better future for everyone and world peace!
If you told me this was recorded in 1984 I probably would have believed you! It's like my ears got sent back in time to a sound that's been long forgotten to a concert that only the coolest kids went to!
When I hear this song, I think of an imaginary movie where the main character is named Jason. He is driving in his car at night, neon lights are reflecting in the windshield, while this song is playing. He's driving to clear his head from something that happened earlier in the day. If I ever start filming things again, I need to make this a reality.
Her pitch in this song and this live version, especially the ooh lead into the chorus is just ... peerless, exquisite. Bad pitch hurts...you could tune an instrument to Nikki's voice.
Now I am all for Nikki. She managed to put there so much emotion and focused to do it right. Looked good, too! And of course thanks to The Midnight to create this song and the collaboration! What you guys are doing is really cool.

So as funny as it sounds, I only came across this band within the last month and a week, let’s say at latest three weeks ago. I only ever heard of the audio track that had the stripper looking woman standing in a very elegant pose, as if she was finishing off a routine on stage. There are a lot of regular general music songs that I obviously like and think are awesome but for an 80s sounding themed song, it was a week or two ago I think yeah, during vacation days that I was listening to a handful of different 80s Synthwave pop songs like this, but out of the 5 to 7 that I listened to Before I put it on and continued with my night, it was a late Friday night Anm I don’t work weekends, so I stayed up late enjoying myself while enjoying a few Coors light, tall cans and some fireball shots but that’s beside the point 😂. Listening to that handful of songs, I listened to, this was my favorite, and I loved the mix of the fast paced beat, the woman singer sounds sexy as all freaking hell, and the guys balance to her lyrics really make the song sound good, but that saxophone player f*cking kills he plays and it adds such an extra level to an 80s sounding synth wave track. But that was at least 2 to 3 weeks ago by now, and while looking randomly at some videos on UA-cam, I’m sure as everyone knows UA-cam tends to put up stuff based on this algorithm or whatever, of stuff you’re interested in or what you’ve already listened to and when I came across this, I did not realize there was a Stage/small concert filmed version that looks like a music video of the track I had listened to so I’m watching it being played by the actual people and the way they played the song in this video as close to the audio track as you could be, if you weren’t in the studio recording as perfectly as you could for the audio track. Now, on a sidenote, I usually tend to go to the same bar on Saturday nights. When I can afford it, I’m trying to use my money strategically to pay off some bills and get them out-of-the-way before the middle of this year, but I’ve told this to people before and when I go out, I go out not just for the drinks and shots, and the friends and acquaintances. I have there that I’ve known for a handful of years, but I go there to seeing karaoke, and I’m sure at least some people might at least understand if not agree with this, that, whenever you listen to songs that have already been finalized and come off a CD album, that so to speak, in some regard is the so to speak, perfected audio version on that CD, that’s the professionally done as best as they wanted to hear off the CD so whenever I sing the songs that I sing, I sing as close to the album version that I like, because to the album version is the best version that they made for the CD so whenever I sing a song in karaoke, there are some minor points that I might embellish for the sake and love of singing karaoke but I try to sing every song I sing as much as the album version that I already know I like as possible, and to me how well they were singing. This was as close as you could have been singing an album/audio track on stage as if you were recording it for the album and that I like. 🙂
