I was born in 1977 and I have to tell you, even though this is technically not 80s music it’s fantastic music and it takes me back to my childhood. It’s some of the best music we’ve had in a long time.
It's really odd. FM84 and The Midnight's music isn't like any actual 80s popular music but evokes such an 80s vibe and nostalgia. For me I think it certainly has a tone of 80s 8bit computer game music but in Hi-fidelity though, which might be why it has the effect it does.

I don't follow why this type of music is not breaking records. This is authentic, reaches to the soul, stays in your brain and heart, in addition, makes you feel good. Is simply the best.

I like that its not mainstream. It's like a special gem for people to uncover and cherish in a narrow circle of appreciation. If it went mainstream we would instantly get all sorts of trolls and haters unloading their frustration at it.

This is why independent artists are the best, they can sing just as phenomenally (or even better) live as they do in the studio.
