    Both Ravenswatch and Curse of the Dead Gods are phenomenal games that suffer from being bad roguelikes. Passtech Games is so worried about you breaking their expertly-crafted combat experience that they make sure you can't get any truly wild builds or crazy combos. The power gap between great runs and terrible runs isn't large enough, so all runs with the same weapon/characters quickly end up feeling basically the same. They seem to have missed the whole point of having randomized in-run upgrades in the genre, which is a shame because the games are otherwise absolutely incredible.

      I couldn't quite understand why I never stuck with Curse of the Dead Gods, but you explained it perfectly. I started playing it in its VERY early days, and after 1.0, I still felt like it wasn't fun enough. It's not a *bad* game by any means, but I was always confused when people said it was one of the better roguelikes out there.

      Well thought out and said. Both Passtech Games would have been better if they we’re developed more as an rpg than a roguelite. In an rpg they could really tailor everything to the combat. Cause in a roguelite, one needs to lean into the chaos more as the rng gods decide the fate of your run. Practically shaping how the run looks and feels.

      I couldn't agree more. Both games feel so incredibly good to play and are so smooth and have interesting lores and worlds... but don't do the roguelike bit right. During the first days of early access there was one or two really intensely powerful synergies you could make based off a few rare items, and they even got removed.

    Storm Island kind of reminds me of the lightning temple in Curse of the Dead Gods (with the birds and the babies throwing lightning circles)

    I would love this game if it didn't have time pressure. Maybe like hades or diablo etc.

    I was wondering if you would like to try Draft of Darkness, game looks super intriguing and is a cool rougelike.

    I hope they listen to the feedback they are getting and pivot. Either move away from rouge like or commit more to it. Amazing gameplay supported by mediocre systems and upgrades.

    Is there no normal games in this world that are controlled by mouse and not WASD? People are forced to play this trash
