Brilliant! Kevin cutting through the BS as usual. Tax evasion, wealth gap, and callous attitude toward people who suffer applies equally to the U.S. !
He presents it as a comedy routine, but he’s absolutely right. There’s something called “the velocity of money” which is transactions over time. The higher the velocity of money per pound, the better your economy does. Give money to poor people and the velocity of money is dozens of times whatnot is for the same money in the hands of rich people. That’s why am economy slows down, when there’s too much money in the hands of people who don’t spend it.
You from the west end as well mate
Yeah and what happens when an economy grows too fast?
@@stop9273 provided its stable growth, which increased public spending, and increased spending by the public would be, it'd eventually slow down.
There’s also something called inflation
@@jajajajajaja867 it depends on what causes the inflation. In the OP's comment I assume it would be more of a demand-pull inflation, too many buyers and too few suppliers. If you have enough investment to sustain the supply without affecting prices then it could work.
In Western countries we're faced more with a wage-price spiral. The cost of living is increasing so workers demand better wages, which in turn increases prices, which leads yet again to a higher demand in wages, etc.
But all this would imply that you are in a closed economy. Globalised markets mean that we are highly exposed to international crises, just look at Ukraine. It's a small country but global food supplies are already jeopardised. All the economic theory is sound, I believe know how to make it work by now, but we just can't control international affairs and their effects on domestic markets.
Best ted talk I’ve seen.
It's a rare comedian that has come close to Billy Connolly for his wit and incredible wealth of comedy gold but Kevin Bridges is right up there with Billy.
Couldn't have put it better myself. 👏
Absolutely. And don't let's forget, from a darker, angrier, more political angle, Frankie Boyle. With those three, we're the Brazil of stand-ups.
Two types of comedians. People who say funny things and people who say things funny. He’s the latter as is Billy
His comedy is 100% better than Billy connolly hands down
@@chrisryan5209jesus christ what a take this is. Kevin is great but he's nowhere near Billy. Billy is the greatest and it's not close. Kevin would agree.
He’s soo good. Funniest comedian out there.
Man I don't say this lightly... But he's probably my favourite stand up comedian. Even in panel shows he's hilarious too 😂
_"There'll be a farm out there looking for a scarecrow"_ 🤣
One of the funniest jokes I've heard 😂 so on the edge that one
Yeah that has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard in that amount of time.
@@boahnation9932 you need to watch more comedy
The relaxed manner of Dave Allan ,the superb delivery of Billy Connelly, keV -in is becoming a legend in my Lifetime long may he rein
What is incredible about him is that he is this good without having spent years and years on the stand up circuit like a lot of comedians. He's just naturally funny and confident.
He's the best stand up in years but he did spend years on the circuit before he made it big.
@@bam74 - most of the "old" comedians played in clubs and pubs for many years before getting a break. He's so young that he can't have been doing it for very long. I almost get the feeling that his experience is 99% at school and down the pub with his friends (which he often suggests is the case in interviews).
Yeah it's crazy, he became popular when he was like 20, so young! Just proves he's naturally gifted
I thought alcohol and cigarettes was what my dole check was for. Its not as if I could buy a house with it
@@probablygraham well school, work, the pub and prison are the funniest places out there
I always think Comedians IQ's must be sky high. And one of the reasons they are so funny is they see right through bulls###
A farm looking for a scarecrow 🤣 still one of the best lines ever
Brilliantly stated. Kevin should run for Prime Minister he will get millions of votes !!
Marti Pellow, the only guy who ever left Clydebank to become a heroin addict 😂
someone give this man a phd in economics
The description saying London - no, no, not that west end
The continuation of the last joke is cut off here (he talks about Google-ing Diego Rivera). The rabbit hole he goes down while doibg so is so relatable and funny as fk😂😂😂
I love you Kevin. You make more sense than any economists I've ever heard.
check out max kaiser (and his guests), he's slightly (but only slightly) bitcoin myopic but for good reason ... fiat is dog$#!7
Mark Yusko, although not an economist (he's a hedge fund manager, so it's his job to understand economics) has some interesting insights
I really need a new special from him. Soon.
he’s going on tour again, so there’s probably one on the way.
I’m going to see him in Sheffield in August! He’s on tour soon
Not only a great comedian, but the world's greatest economist.
😂
I do hope the next Prime Minister insists he join as the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
His views on building a bigger tax base for the country, with regards to Cayman Islands, reveals him as exactly the type of strategist we need in Number 11.
The man's posture is exemplary.
i always used to arrive at the dole centre in a taxi so i could get back to work quickly after I’d signed on.
Did you manage to get covered for the Time out to sign on?
Kev is brilliant. Tell me I am not only person that has watched this 5 times!!
I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve watched this. He’s just brilliant, a fantastic successor to Billy Connolly
Comedians speak TRUTH TO POWER!!!
Proud to be Scottish you're a LEGEND
His jokes are a legitimate solution to fixing an economy. It's people saving money that crashes it not spending. Give poor people a huge income weekly benefits and tell them to go ham because whatever they don't spend will get reset at the end of the week.
They'll buy new clothes, live in larger houses, hire maids to clean those houses, buy more and better foods, toys for their kids... etc
Then the real problem becomes sustainability for the planet and it's inhabitants, not how can we stop starving a planet with 3x the amount of food required being produced on it.
He's funny but not an economist, that would ruin a country, if benefits were 1000 pounds a week then the lowest a business would have to pay their employees is 1000+ a week that would lead to thousands of small businesses going bankrupt and leading to more people on benefits and a bigger deficit overall. Although the items bought may be highly taxable they are not 100% taxable so only a proportion is returned to the government not the full amount.
The key to having a better economy is to give incentives for spending to stop people saving lots of money and slowing down the economy, not lowing the productivity of a country by destroying businesses.
I think Kevin was using it for comedy reasons not economic ones 🤣😂🤣
@@padraigocobthaigh1770 that's why I didn't comment this on the video but instead replied to someone who suggested his ideas could fix an economy
if benefits were £1,000 a week, everyone would quit their jobs, be lining up at the jobcentre, and not paying taxes on their income, to pay for those benefits, so Govt debt would soar, output would fall, demand would go up, hyperinflation ensues, and the pound would be worth about as much as the Zimbabwean dollar.
@@liamcollins9183 u's aw fae the west end anaw
Not much to laugh at these days but Kevin Bridges never fails to make me laugh out loud!
"My da just clamped ur da" 🤣🤣
Love 'em as much as I love Micky Flanagan
At least I get the Diego Rivera reference from the other clip now :)
They could even go after Jimmy Carr … wait, what?
De-seeding a pomegranate with a fruit knife 😂😂😂😂
That should be a Ted Talk to the wealthy.
Can hardly wait for him to come to U.S.!!!😎
Ive spent enough time in the westend to have had to deal wi the wains and he's no lying lmao
Weans
He's right!!! In a consumer society, people need money to be in a capitalist economy and buy consumer goods. Its that simple🤓
He makes me laugh 😂
The only comedian that I love but don’t want to see him live-thanks utube subtitles
Give me a tenna or your getn Stabbed !! 🤣 🤪
“…this’ll be my Bit in no time” … 😘
Legend!! 🌟✨💫
Off to the garage for a Wispa 🤣🤣
A table for four please.
Kevin for first minister
It’s gotten to the point that some states in America have allowed self spendthrift trusts. Because they want the rich to at least keep the money here instead of offshore banks.
this man is a comedy genius, intelligent, well delivered comedy , how hard must it be standing alone in front of a large audience trying to make them laugh 😃
hes a good one
Spot on
He made me laugh out loud….quite an achievement in todays climate 🤣🤣
his gotten thin

One of the last greats not fall victim to the woke invasion of comedy.. Keep it up Lad for the sake of laughing
whit r u on about mate
I was advised to get some Jockanese lessons before I went to see one on 'Kev's' shows!😂. Did the trick!
Been looking for the chello on his back for ages 😂😂😂
I understood about half of what he said. Subtitles a must.
That makes those of us who understands every word he says feel even more special.
@Katie O'Brien i
@Katie O'Brien I've never lived outside London yet I got no problem understanding every word. It's not as if he's speaking some ancient gaelic tongue still in use in the outer hebrides. It's English with a Glaswegian accent ffs. All the sebastians saying that they can't understand must be from Surrey or the shires. No working class person from any city in the UK would have a problem
Why would you want to be on benefits 🤔
who said they want to be on benefits? they fuckin need to be
Your posh Scottish accent is a Belfast one!
No it’s not, he’s spot on with just about every accent. Master of timing and intonation.
