Was that a useful video? Yes. Did I learn a lot? Yes. Do I think I'll ever make that deep into the game with such an organized ship? No. Will I continue to enjoy the game? Yes.
I found that making barracks was more infrablock efficient early on, and until I had a surplus I kept the barracks for space efficiency as well. I suppose I've only tried the default start so maybe the priorities are different if I start with a ship. Starting with a crew tuned to all be good at combat made the early learning much more enjoyable because I could absolutely wreck enemies in the beginning.
Thank you for this... New to the game and enjoy having your longer vids on while going thru my first runs. This short format does help give a quick perspective of what to consider when expanding the starting ship. Funny enough, I had not realized there was progression in this game from the starting starting map/system to another... more retrospectives from your 1000 hours would be cool.
At the end you have a choice so I wouldn't necessarily call it a spoiler. oO. I was hesitant to finish and relieved to have an option since I like to continue my games "indefinitely", or at least until I get bored and restart. Glad you enjoy the vids.
I love the concept of this game, playing on my steamdeck. I do find the controls very very clunky so far. Its hard to "unselect" something. It's not very intuitive to do anything. I'm hoping it gets easier with time. only have about 3 hours in the game now.
Great video and what i like the most is the fact that you showed the steps in parts, so we did not have to be forced to watch gameplay that is just gameplay and not what Tips and tricks are for thank you for the good post and i have subscribed to your channel. Good luck on more videos. I will keep an eye out for gameplay videos and more of this on your site and game guides.
Thanks for the watch and comment! Most of my other attempts at tips and tricks became gameplay... 7 hours worth of gameplay lol. Figured I would try and cut to the chase. Hope it helps! Ill be putting up short vids of tips and tricks for both beginners and more advanced players soon!
I just started this game on my deck. It is basically my dream game in terms of my interests. Without any spoilers, is there an "endgame" that I'm going for?
I'm 136h in. I'm suprised by the way you defend. I've got ship to ship cannons and shoot pirates and slavers down in a fight while I defend my ship and also board the other one. Which can be an interesting feat. But this way is much simpler. Even though just one docking port really limits you. I've changed to two ports right next to each other and use the same tactic, crouching behind the shuttle port and it works. I'm still in the early stages and have never seen this kind of slaver ship actually, would you always recommend only pdc's while not having any ship to ship turrets installed? You'd save so many corepoints. thanks for the insight. Like to see you board a relict and see your micro. edit: Also the tip at the beginning how you color your crew is nice. For beginners it is also very important, to know how the time schedules word. Save beds while not everyone is on the same schedule. How you should name them. Kinda automating how they get their weapons. How to prioritise crew tasks etc.
Thanks for the watch! Boarding a fully defended pirate ship and being pelted by plasma rounds on Harsh even when similarly equipped, augged, and armored puts you in a bad spot. Think of what we do to boarders when they step through that airlock. Prevents unnecessary crew loses and increases the amount of live bounties I can collect, because credits! A few fighters with PDC's would give you a first strike option when not using ship to ship. Playing with no ship to ship weapons only works is by utilizing the targeting jammer. When active you can't fire or be fired upon. When you find a ship you want to fight you can disable it, but I don't like to take too much damage. Even with a full battery of weapons, shields, and hull stabilizers an enemy fleet or battleship can end a good game quick. Space is Harsh lol. Good points for beginners. Maybe I should do a beginners tips and tricks, without giving too much future game play away that is. I will definitely do a short on derelict's!
Although I typically use a small canvas size from the beginning selecting the largest size and centering your ship usually gives you room to grow. Sketch and plan. Derelicts will work and give you resources depending on difficulty. Although I find harvesting two or three enemies early on can give you plenty of resources. Food and resources. Derelicts give you resources but typically lack the food stored one needs.
What is the "standard" game mode. I started yesterday on what i assumed was the main mode, but my ship doesn't look like this. What is the mode of the game where i will be looking for eden?
some one I just read mentioned the starting song in this game is soothing and it is but if you listen to the lyrics the song doesn't fit with the game. It's almost like the devs needed a song for the game and they went to Fivver and hired someone to just make a space song of whatever and then the devs just ran with the first song they got. lol.
@@mikecochran1759 Earth was destroyed, there is no rain in space, you'll only find it on Haven... Idk lol. Maybe there's a story and your trying to find a loved one?
i guess i need to restart. i only have one of my four beginning crew with good weapon stats. is it going to be impossible? I was told that you need industry, botany, construction, and high zest/bravery. so that's what i focused on instead. i was under the impression you could have one "police officer" to take the lead in combat
If you can't get any more system cores drag your ship down into the ship canvas when you first jump into a system and choose a bigger canvas. I think I use a two by six. You don't need to use the whole area but it will allow you to up the system core points on your current ship! Mind you it will take away from other ships if you intend to create a fleet. But we don't play like that anymore lol. So make sure you have enough system cores and a big enough ship canvas to support them. Hope it helps!
So you never take or destroy the enemy ships? You just take their men, bail, and sell the prisoners for cash? don't you need to destroy the ship to gain control of a sector?
@@2096games well, I have just started, and 2 of the missions I was given were to "clear a sector", so I'm guessing I have to destroy the ships, not just the people inside. Also, when you zoom out it shows circles around each sector, and says who controls it, so I'm guessing I have to kill off enemies, until I was the boss, right?
@@ZimCrusher oO. Before the last update you could never take enemy ships. You could destroy them but in doing so would lose valuable materials. I always played on advanced difficulty btw. Once you take out the ships crew you can freely salvage. Salvaging materials is time consuming so I would only take what was really needed. I like to keep my food supply well stocked. I don't know how the updated dynamics work though.
That start screen music always makes me feel so calm and relaxed. I wish the song was longer lol
The start screen is very relaxing. Even the game is... aside from the aliens, meteorites, asteroids, pirates and general dying lol.

Doesn't matter how you play as long as you enjoy playing!
Ty for making this, it helped a lot with my first run
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching.

Makes since. I'm still hesitant to board even with a highly trained and outfitted crew. Things can go bad really quickly lol.

Find "Haven". A new world since I guess Earth is toast.

How to scale up the ship size the easy way and prepare for it from the beginning?

All of the difficulties have the same "endgame" to find Haven. Once you do than you have a choice.

How did you get any resources? You didn't mine anything or salvage anything.
Ill be putting a new one up shortly on how I gather resources and salvage.
I just wanted to get it it's on sale but looks very overwhelming 😖😖
There's definitely a learning curve. Just start on easy and go from there. Also plan on losing a bunch of times lol
Inspiring, thanks.

How can you get 2 x3 generators and so many CPU units (or whatever they're called)? It tells me I don't have enough points...

I want to get into this game so badly, but i'm lost at about three hours in. the controls are so difficult. Maybe that's a steamdeck only thing?
How do you repair the ship after an attack?
