Anytime that I go to yard or Estate Sales and people start comparing their prices to E-bay, I just leave.
Exactly!
I think its hilarious. Because that's what the resellers do lol.
once everyone figures it out because everyone will eventually. these people will have to get real jobs imo
When someone comes to my sale and starts looking up prices on their phone, I ask them to leave.
@@davem464So you never comparison shop and just blindly pay any price, right? I’m sure you never look up the value of anything in your sales either. A reseller’s $10 has the same value as a non-reseller’s $10 so why do you care?
Considering the prices she was asking no wonder nobody was there
Indeed. Don't understand her way of thinking. Nobody is in there, so negotiate 🤷🏻♀️
I know right, let resellers like this rip you off.
@@Hockeistguyalive If you want to, as she said, sell a house full of overwhelming amounts of shit, quickly, so you can sell the house… then you have to lower the prices significantly. If you want to get top dollar for items, you have to put the time in to do (real) research, photographing and individually listing, storing and ultimately packing/shipping…
Can’t have it both ways. Doesn’t work like that.
I was just coming to say this. They may have already been to one of her sales or something. Ya never know.
@@seanwaters9710if it’s the first day….shoot for the top….I know this is odd to hear….an estate sale isn’t actually for resellers to buy cheap and make money….typically always been to sell to the end user….so she should be asking market prices for everything. She’s charging what he would be charging himself….
Love when people try to tell ebay sellers what they will get for things.
I have read a lot of the feedback from other resellers hear, and it makes me sad! Clearly the women in the first part had just lost her husband who was a collector, and She was overwhelmed with having to do this sale. She should have hired an estate sale company to put on this sale. when you go to a sale, ask why they are selling, will give you insight on their frame of mind.
Why were so many things in their original boxes🤔. Something not right…
It’s strange when someone runs or has a sale waits for people to arrive then figures what she’s going to charge. Her sitting there on the floor looking up prices is just priceless.
I seen one once where they were asking the people buying to look up prices. lol
@Jruth68 That's when you tell them to fuck off and move on... I'm not going to do your job for you. Pretty soon I'm going to start photo shopping prices on lazy sellers.
I've had it with people who have garage / estate sales and want TOP eBay sold prices. When I see this- I just walk out of the house. @@ggary04
calm down ppl
I WILL NOT SIMMER DOWN NOW ! @@user5.56
I hate when nothing is priced and I hate when people try to sell items at market value while its a GARAGE SALE
Went to a sale yesterday where everything was priced at the top end of eBay comps. As I talked to the sellers and heard other people negotiate, it was obvious those prices where there for the first hour of the sale. After that… make an offer.
Yes and expect you to do the work to get resell prices. NOT!
FACTZ. Those lord of the rings cards tickled my pickle. I wouldve called ahead of time or been there before opening to snag those.
Pisses me off to no end when people put the price stickers directly on collectibles (Cardboard and paper boxes instead of plastic areas). They never get the ones that are temp, always the super adhesive type that drop values. Smdh
Or when they write the price directly on the box with a permanent marker, really love that 😒😒
Use goo gone. It gets rid of sticker adhesive.
Poor lady should hire an estate sale company she’ll make a lot more than $200 🤦🏽♀️🤣
Nice pickups ❤🎉
Crazy the lady at the estate sale had a house full of stuff and nothing priced. Crazy ! Nice pick-ups!
Obviously not REALLY crazy - she had a very nice home & lots of nice things - crazy people don’t do that well financially. People are hard to understand when it comes to their “stuff”. She probably would have done better if she had given up a little control & allowed a professional estate liquidation company to do what they know best.🤩
I work for an estate sale facilitator. It is always super awkward when the homeowner is present for the sale, especially if they micro manage the sale. There have been many sales that, had we been given the opportunity to just do our thing, the homeowner would have made a ton more money. Instead, they question the pricing, and drive away buyers and, many times end up having to donate the leftovers when it gets to be crunch time to move. The lady in this video said she needed to sell her house but didn't seem too anxious to get things sold.
Most of the estate sales around me. Have in their contract that the homeowners can not be present on site during the sale.
I think we would all be the same because we know how much we paid for things. Everyone wants the highest amount for things. Me personally I would rather give away my items to friends for free rather than sell them.
for example watching American pickers to see people nearly have mental break downs on parting with the most worthless junk rather than to just get it out of their hair. I think there was even one episode where Frank had offered way above just to rescue the car and a year latter they call him up only to discover that the car was even more damaged due to a leak in the barn.
I have a decent relationship with a lot of Estate sales people and we work out a good deal in the end due to me bundling and a buy a lot. They have to make their money plus money for the home owner and I need to make at least 25% on my items otherwise I have to walk.
It is awkward going to an estate sale when the homeowner is there. The purpose of these sales is for the homeowner to get SOME $$$ because they’re getting ready to sell the home, and the money is probably going to be spent on repairs, upgrades, and storage renting for the move. But if they’re there, have to be persuasive about their attachment to the stuff and how freeing and liberating life is going to be “moving to sunny Florida” or wherever they’re moving to. My grandparents stuff was sold when I was on the other side of the country and all my aunt cared about was selling the house at that point.
Soon as she started looking up prices. I'm Out !!
That + if I walk in and they have Ebay printed pics. Yep, Nope. I tend to make more $ the last day of estate sales. Don't get me wrong, I spend plenty the 1st day most of the time as well. But always like to go last day. More bang for the buck imo. Been picking as a hobby for 30+yrs 😁
Is she googling when you are there yeah pretty much know she don’t really want to give up majority of the stuff she should’ve been googling days prior to know what she can and can’t ask for something because very well no ever something on eBay 75 bucks and she wants 100 for it. No I won’t pay those prices because it tells me she really doesn’t want to give up the stuff because if she doesn’t sell it that means she don’t get no money.
Seems l like a very disorganized seller... Google Lens-ing as the customers are ready to checkout, essentially... seller should already have everything researched and prove tagged relative to condition, and not just going off the first thing that pops up after a five second search
That estate sale was so awkward I just wanted it to end. I would have been very blunt and short with her. Make a pile, offer an amount, and if she counters say "no" and start making another pile.
When she started the google lens crap Id say "well maybe you can try ebaying them but I came to help clear you out at an estate sale"
I have ZERO point ZERO tolerance for inept people who want HIGH prices and do NO work beforehand . I cannot tell you how many times I just WALK OUT - and let them KNOW I was less than happy. HOWEVER: I have had GREAT satisfaction when I am exiting the home-- AND there is a LINE of PEOPLE waiting to get in ! Then I let it RIP. I walk out with my arms in the air and my THUMBS DOWN ! Then the people on line-- start asking me QUESTIONS !! "Do they have a lot of vinyl?" ME: "Sure - do you like Christmas and Sesame Street records?!:". "Do they have mid-century decorative items?" , ME: "Well , is Marshalls and T,J. Maxx mid-century?" And then I'll give a rant on "If you're a reseller - turn around and go find a flea market" , etc.
@@LannieLordyou fart when you’re leaving ? WOW
I’m sure they would be so hurt losing a great customer like you
They want EBay prices but they have to understand they have to wait EBay time. One lady got $200 for something she got for $5 but it took her 2 years to sell.
She’s not gonna sell all that in time to sell the house and she should have just taken offers. At this point she’s thinking like most that her stuff is worth more. If she’s willing to do all the work of eBaying them separately then maybe but she of course doesn’t realize she’s going to lose fees and shipping and have to pay taxes on what she sells. 🤦🏻♀️
It’s pretty ridiculous when these “sellers” google price check these items. They forget about the fees, shipping cost, time to list, and to store it all. Not to mention the “dirty” returns every seller gets!
Bless her heart.. I cant imagine no one else there with so many fabulous things. Not sure she could handle a house full. Hopefully she got a lot more people
I mean that I do admit, she had great stuff that she was willing to sell but but you get out where your cost on having to move all that stuff with you versus y’all want to sell because something tells me a reason she was just googling at the last minute she want to get everybody wants to get the most out of your stuff I mean I can’t blame you for that But if you’re going to nickel and dime a person for everything, it ain’t worth it because I have to wall. Most people won’t go over a certain amount of money no matter how good of a project it is because everyone wants to deal that’s reason to go to yard sales even estate sales it’s just a more like an expensive yard sale that just got miss named that’s all. And then she could’ve gotten a couple hundred dollars from him if she had just made a good deal she could’ve sold all the barrage lunchboxes and stuff and he would’ve probably paid a good six to $700 for the hunter lot instead of trying to nickel and dime And have him pick through the lot and those two nice lamps were nice. I mean they look a little bit on the Tiffany side it’s not like he was trying to get one over on you. It’s just easier sometimes you do a whole lot and just you know do a blanket price that are nickel and dime because I guarantee you if you don’t don’t sell it you’re going to end up either one taking it to the trash to take it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or your local thrift store if you cannot fit it wherever you got to go or just take it with you that is the third option and put it in your new place so which is it to nickel dime somebody to death literally versus just going here and giving it up and clearing it off your list so that is make it that’s the less stuff you got to move. Because no one’s trying to gypped you you’re dropping your own self pop out price in it too high for eight yup basic expensive yard sale. If you come up and put an estate sale do you need to have your prices down pat put a sign up and how much is stuffy ears so the people don’t have to always ask you how much something is and they can add it up and if they want it, they’ll pay it. If not the office how much they are willing to pay because otherwise like that step I would’ve told you to go and getting one of the state sales representatives that does this for a living and have him go through your entire home and you point out what you’re willing to sell and he’ll catalog it and he’ll figure out the value to see F it’s worth it for him to represent you to help you sell it and still make a profit.
That's what happens when they price things near ebay prices. I was at one place by myself where they said in their ad everything must go. When I show up I see a $200 marble globe. Price tags on bagged books that say rare on it. Things I usually buy for $2 to $5 marked to $50. If it "must go" then the prices have to be low or no one will buy random things.
You would think she wants to sell so she doesn't have to take it. It's either sell or throw away.
no one showed up prob because the high price tags were in the ad pictures as well. I gauge wheather to go or not depending on price. Some estate runners are delusional, like what is she going to do with all the stuff if it doesnt sell? Seen some estates take one month trying to sell their stuff one sale after another until no one shows up.
Yeah cool stuff but crappy prices
for no one to be there is very weird.. maybe she had the same sale advertised before and people already lost interest.. super super weird to advertise and no one is there.. shes running a retail shop not a dale.. she doesnt have near time frame to sell by.. sometimes i think these older people want company
. not customers..
It's hard to work with people like that
Does she not realize that after he leaves, she's stuck with all that crap? People are amazing.
I went to one estate sale on a Friday and spent 1000 and went home listed a sealed VHS from that sale for 1600.00 and it sold in 5 minutes and went back the second day of the sale.
Awesome!
Um , what VHS ????
@@LannieLord video cassette tape.
WHAT is the name of the MOVIE!!!???@@Draintheswamp2024
@Draintheswamp2024 what video cassette sells for 1600? Need to know lol
That would’ve annoyed the living crap out of me, having her right there with her iPad looking up stuff. Why didn’t she already have this looked up and figured out before anyone arrived?!?!
the collection of stuff. no. but he said of silverware yes
it can be melted down. silver at 30 dollars an oz. yes
This is a collection hoarder. They really are not trying to sell it , so much as being able to show it and talk about it. She needs to eBay it herself.
I give you a lot of credit ,you have a lot of patience. I would have been out the door not worth my time. She said she needs to move she needs to sell the stuff so just sell it get rid of it. I guess in the end you should call her a couple U-Haul trucks.
If she Google lenses everything she will never sell anything:/
Man! That estate sale by yourself would of been awesome!! 🎉
You didn’t miss anything on the lunchboxes. There was nothing there worth much and they weren’t in tip top shape. If you could have gotten them for about $10 each that would have been a good buy. But anything over that and you would have about broken even overall from what I could see.
Pricing items according to eBay or Google is senseless because the sale doesn't have millions of people there each minute like eBay or Google. People are delusional in the comparison and I just say good luck and have a nice day and walk away. 😂 Nuff Said.
I know certain sellers where I don’t go to their sales until the last day because that’s when they finally discount items enough to make sense for me to buy. I also have estate sale companies that I don’t bother with because even at half and nearly everything still unsold, it’s not worth it.
There is one company near me that will do a six day sale and still have most the house left. His prices are at times higher than retail. A deal with him is nocking five bucks of off a $150 purchase. lolI don't understand how these companies stay in business or even get clients.
@@Jruth68 I have several near me that are similar. They price high so they can sell it to 'friends' or clean out and resell it from their own storefronts. Some of it is just shady behavior. Makes me sad for older folks who just wanted a fair value for their stuff. (Also makes me appreciate the companies that do a good, fair job.)
How much you want to bet he paid for early access, and is just selling this as "no one showed up".
Like come on! You know that isnt the case.
im surprised she didn't charge for the box
Dear lady, KNOW YOUR DAMN PRICES BEFORE YOU HAVE YOUR ESTATE SALE!!!!!!!
That’s why nobody was there🥰
My aunt passed away 2 years ago--she had a house full of stuff, plus the garage, the barn and 2 big sheds. We hired an estate sale company and left the premises the weekend of the sale. They took a significant cut but they did a s***load of prior work and removed all the unsold items at the end. We did alright and mostly didn't have to deal with anything like display and pricing or customers. Money well spent if you ask me. You hire a pro for a reason.
I'm sorry to hear about your auto. I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with your estate sale company though.
Who has a house full of brand new merchandise? And even more bizarre is that nothing is priced ahead of time. Did she forget the sale was happening that day? 🤷🏻♀️
My son was born in 1980, And he absolutely loved micro machines. I haven't seen them anywhere for years in years. And I keep forgetting to tell you Dustin that you're humor cracks me up...pika-poo.. I almost fell out of my chair! Poor Jess..😂
U paid 5$ for a 12$ pyrex
Yeah, it was a miss. But, the overall pick at the sale was overwhelmingly successful.
Not really an "estate sale" if the owner is still alive and the person selling the stuff.
Those large playmates Star Trek Ships were a must pick up if the prices were right. Right now they are going for good money.
I saw the Doctor Who piece and wondered why you didn't pick it up. With the new Doctor coming, it would have sold fast
She eventually grabs it, it actually sold today for 99.99 shipped!
You have a lot of nice things but you should really price them first it makes it faster for you and the customer
I'm drooling over all those Star Trek toys!!
Nice Picks 😃 Crazy no one else was at that Estate Sale 🤷🏼♀️ So odd!
Her prices were HIGH on a lot of stuff. There is a chance this was the second time she had a sale and the "regular crew of pickers" stayed away.
It probably started at 9am and he knocked on the door at 5am lol
By the way, I meant the original Lionel Blue Comet is very valuable now, not the ornaments.
That Barbie fashion pack at the back of the Barbie stacks might have been a good buy. Mattel makes few fashion packs right now and the quality is crap. Collectors appreciate fashion packs up into even the early 2000s.
Those jumbo troll dolls wouldve probably been good
Keep your eyes open for Hallmark Lionel trains also. First one was in 1993 and still come out every year.
They started with classic Lionel locomotives and then started making sets and are very accurate and well done. Some of these, especially some of the freight and passenger cars are pretty sought after now. A lot of people just bought the locomotives. If you ever run across The Blue Comet set loco, tender and one lighted passenger car. The car is sought after in mint condition. Beautiful train and very accurate to the original Lionel Standard Gauge set produced between 1930 - 1938 or 39.
These sets in NM condition bring big money now. I wish Hallmark would have released the other two cars in the following years.
You should maybe consider keeping your Hallmark Beatles set. Displays great on a shelf or mantel and stand up great, they never fall over. Great stage with the riser for Ringo and his cymbals are all metal. Really cool piece.
Peace ❤
“Oh, you’ll get more than that” - sure.
If you live around homes that are double-digit in the millions, 5,000$ spent will make you 30,000$
Great buys from both of you, I’m sure you’ll get what you want for all! If that clock is retired I would try upgrading to a higher price. Then put accepting offers. I believe eBay does authentication on things. Don’t know how much they want though. Have a fantastic weekend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
I pay no more than twenty cents on the dollar at yard sales.
The Hallmark Beatles ornaments bring a pretty penny now. I bought mine new in 93 or 94 for 34.99 I think and that was a pretty penny back then. I got the original shipping box from Hallmark with mine.
People get a number in their head and start fantasizing about how much they'll make, how they'll spend it - out of touch with reality
The reason no one showed up is because they all walked away with her mad prices prob..😂😂😂
No wonder nobody showed up. They just know she wants more than retail value on most stuff. I’d still go if I were you but I wouldn’t blame anyone for not wanting to deal with anyone who was trying to keep most of the stuff. Most of the people that run those Estste sales make a deal that they get to keep everything that doesn’t sell.
I like swiping these types of sales last day on a Sunday, USUALLY prices are slashed. I hope you were able to do that, nice haul.
she is a greedy karen thats why. its 2024 & everyone is going poor. you either go very low or end up dropping it off at goodwill anyway. i have stuff marked way down on offer up & marketplace locally, nobody even wants to pay for the gas to come to my door to get it... its all online now. you either eat the shipping & selling fees for basically no profit or drop it off at goodwill on the weekend for zero profit. i hate these people that sit there on their phone trying to get near asking price for all their junk. either sell it for half or get used to waiting for months for something to sell, even then people still lowball because everything is too expensive now. people want stuff for free. get used to it!
99% of Star Trek merchandise is worth very little she should have cut some deals. I have almost all that stuff. Google lens is not Ebay sold.
OMG!! I want the Annie lunchbox lol. My favorite movie of all time.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
We just went through something like this with my mothers house when my step father passed away. My mother didn't want to have an estate sale because she didn't want anyone to know her house was going to be empty so she called a company that buys and resells stuff. Her house and barn (tools/equipment) looked just like this ladies house. He came through and offered her $138 for everything based on the amount of stuff, size of the crew he would need to move everything, size of truck required and number of trips. I'm not sure if she got scammed or not because he did spend a full day there looking at everything and then showed up for almost a full day with 5 other workers moving stuff out. At the end of the day it saved us the nightmare of figuring out what to do with all the stuff so we looked at the low offer adequate based on only other option was paying someone to come and dump run sell-able items, which didn't really seem like a good idea and we don't have any donation places around us that was willing to take that much inventory.
You got robbed
I do not understand why she did not wat the $250.00 for the lunch boxes .
No, If she wants to Google lens everything.. I would leave.
The 2 Enterprise phasers by Art Asylum should sell well. The 2 tricorders are from 2009 though (the JJ Abrams remake with Chris Pine as Kirk) and aren't very sought after. The Mego dolls of Kirk and Spock look to have some parts swaps. Spock's belt, phaser and tricorder look to be from the recent Mego re-imagined releases. Also, about 10 years ago, Diamond Select re-released the old Mego figures. So, they may not be 100% vintage Mego, but I'd buy them all day long at $1 each.
This woman bought and collected these items yet she did not want to price them at the estate sale? How often does this happen? Someone wants to check the price when you want to buy it? Ludacris ! What a joke! You definitely have to deal with a lot of interesting people when you’re out there buying at yard sales and estate sales. 🤪🤪
Probably not the first go at that sale. Nobody wants to pay full price for junk
I'm sorry but she was so obnoxious I would have just walked out.
I feel like you should've just bought all the Star Trek stuff
Please tell us how much you pay and the comps you are getting away from that thank you
Also on that Seco clock, the jewelry stores used to sell those for $500-$700 but recently I seen them for about 100 at most 150 bucks so they’ve come down in price. Yeah $500. I don’t think so they’re not that popular anymore at least I don’t think they are, get rid of it while you can
Why is there so many damn ads on UA-cam nowadays it blows
I agree. And LONG ads that you can’t skip after 5 seconds. So annoying.
Usually this isn't a problem, but ad-blocker doesn't work on Google home chrome-cast...just move on to another channel, they are a dime a dozen.
See some multiples... late husband must have been a dealer!
Theres no way they would be empty around here even if she was asking over retail. Theres just too many yardsale fanatics around.
Yeah, it's an oddity in our area too. There's a large estate sale crowd.
Well now you know why you were alone.
Google lens… 🤦🏼♀️
Sometimes it’s hard to know when an estate sale is taking place. Only way I know is because one of my co workers goes to a lot of them.
How early did you show up compared to the start time
Roughly 30 minutes before, but usually people are lined up before that in our area for estate sales.
@@propicker yeah, only 30 minutes makes it even more surprising
i think you showed incredible restraint at this sale. I would have spent hundreds!

I had people showing up with $6.00 to a Golf Course Community Sale. I wasn't selling Used Crocs. Made the mistake of donating a few items. Got hounded for more. Nothing but bored, nosy, mentally challenged, creepy & under the influence.
That can opener is great loved it till we moved.
That's because you get to every sale two hours early and walk up on the sales while they are just putting out there stuff...lol. It's a great strategy though. You get all the good stuff.
Might’ve been the situation here but usually have to pick and choose and can only early bird one maybe two sales. Can’t be early for every sale
Wow all the Star Trek and Deep Space Nine was amazing!! Loved it 🥰 I think great score between you both! 😊
We're actually on a rewatch of deep space 9. I was going to have her pick me up the station, but it had a piece broken off.
@@propicker funny, we are doing the same thing of rewatching deep space 9. God they don't make the shows like they used to.
She probably hired help with the estate, so she wouldn’t get swindled You got there early !
You have to remember Estate sales are different from tag sales. Estate sales in general are ran by people who were hired to get owners as much as possible. Thats why im general I avoid them. Little wiggle room and no good sales till last day when all the good stuff is already gone.
That's what happens when you die after collecting stuff. It's just gets sold off. So sad.
Wow, it's like a reseller selling to a reseller...
You can print money with those micro machines. I found a bag thrifting that had 16 loose for a buck. I’ve sold about half of them and I have made about $60 profit.
Wouldn't say that's printing money 😂😂
Wow so much stuff think she was a little out of her depth and could have done with some help. You were very patient and kind. Lovely stuff she had and you bought.
looks like a reason why no one else was there❤
They printed the first lord of the rings cards in norfolk. I helped the company move and they gave me a whole uncut sheet
That's really cool!
Never less than 10 waiting 2 hours before around here 😊
She should have had a professional do the sale
She just WANTED to sell everything, she didnt need to sell anything.
That's just sad all the way around.

Most of it was a bit too high for flipping. Thankfully, she was able to get what she did and get 20% knocked off though!
