hey naomi, happy to hear the lesson helped you out:) i've done more mumford and sons lessons. if you search youtube for "brett sanders mumford and sons guitar lessons" you'll find them. i put some into playlists too. hope they help!
The only way to make it easier on your fingers after you've built up callouses is to get thinner strings. I used to play on 11s and 12s acoustic strings, now I use 10s and sometimes 11s because I was tired of sore fingers. With beginner students who want to learn bar chords and other techniques that hurt the fingers more, I sometimes put 10 gauge electric guitar strings on their acoustics. They feel easier on the fingers and make bending easier. The only downside is a loss in volume:)
Awesome tutorial. Are you going to make one for "Not With Haste" from Mumford and Sons? I'm asking because I've learned the basics but I'm having trouble with the strumming pattern in the beginning. So if you could make a tutorial breaking down the pattern like you did with this song, it would be greatly appreciated.
yeah, they're steel strings ... it take a while to get the sound of that type of palm mute, because it's sort of a 1/2 palm mute ... try bouncing your hand off the strings a bit as you do it
Yet another great song! You have fantastic music taste!
hey naomi, i'll work on it when i find time for more lessons again. thanks for the request:)

you've got to tune it to DADF#Ad (from low to high) ... so, you'll probably need a tuner:)
do you have a tuner?
