First time I've ever changed the tuning of one of my two guitars, have left one tuned to this while I learn to play it. It's lessons like this that make me love playing guitar. Cheers mate
Thanks, Phil. I couldn't imagine anyone dis-liking this or any of Justin's postings. I agree with you, what schmuck hit "dislike"? Probably someone who can't make a go of this song.
Thank you so much for this Justin! Mumford and Sons are one of my favourite bands and this is my favourite song by them! I would love it if you could do more M&S songs, I'm sure I'm not the only lover out there. Thanks a lot mate :)
I love watching great guitar players like Justin strum/pick. I think people don't value the beauty of great strumming/picking near enough when it really makes all the difference to a song. PS- Thanks again Justin for introducing me to another great song/band and saving me all the time of watching their live version to figure it out.
I think Justin would say it is mainly more friendly to your guitar and strings. Tuning to EBEG#BE would invove tuning the 5th 4th and 3rd strings up, causing more tension in those strings and pressure on the bridge of your guitar. cheers
I LOVE this lesson the only thing I wish you could explain better is the little riff between the chorus and going back to the verse. If you could reply to this with the tabs for it, I would greatly appreciate it!
Very nice lesson, for riff 2 I use the same technic as in She talks to Angels for the chords, so reaching over the top of the neck. I play on a mini Maton and cant fit my fingers any other way..
That was so awesome mate im slowly getting better after playing guitar for a few months and having your song book, your a massive help when needed keep it up cant wait till i can play this!
I waited WAY too long to learn this one and I've had the acoustic songbook for awhile now. Always thought it sounded harder to play than it actually is. Thanks for another awesome lesson Justin!
Such a great tuning, I play in this tuning a lot its great for Japanese fingerstyle pieces (i.e. Isato Nakagawa, Masaaki Kishibe) and John Fahey stuff. Thanks Justin, good lesson as usual.
I'm a latvian and I approve this message! Ewert and Two Dragons is easily on par with Mumfords. Even if you Justin don't do a lesson be sure to check them out ;)
Thanks a lot for the video Justin, I love that song and was waiting for the lesson since I've seen it as a part of your acoustic song book. I wasn't expecting it so early, but now, I promise I'll work hard on mastering it (along with the beginner course) =)
Usually not, but you can shift it around to stop buzzing or if some of the strings are out of tune. Usually putting it on at a slant will throw the guitar out of tune but if you re-tune once you put it on, it doesn't matter.
Justin, you have amazing videos! I love the way you teach! But most of all, I like how you do this mini preview of the song before the lesson and it gets me all pumped up!
hi justin , could you please do a cover of the song " Knocking on heaven's door " (the Clapton version ) . I can play and strum the chords , but I am not quite sure as to how to play the intermediate filling licks in between . Thanks :)
Hey Justin, great lesson really cool song to learn and good fun to play. Any chance of doing some more M&S songs like I Will Wait? Keep doing what you do man, you're class
A little tip: if you're having trouble with the chord he aptly called a "pig" (the one on the 11th fret), you may find it easier to bar the three strings on the 11th with your middle finger and bend your finger so the other strings are open accept for the 3rd which you fret on the 10th with your index finger.
I learned this song on a much simpler tab from UltamateGuitar.com. But since i don't think that tab really sounds like the song, i implemented some of this video into it. Now it sounds great! Great video!
Yeah most of the time you can't trust that site. Lots of searching in the different versions for the right one. Much rather have tablature than chords.
awesome lesson, thanks a lot justin! just one question: is there any reason why i shouldnt just tune my guitar to E-B-E-G#-B-E without using a capo? cheers!
9:42 "Fantastic set of chords, really. Properly beautiful" - Justin
9 years ago you made this. I’m thanking you today. This is now my favorite song to play because of you. 🙏🏼 ❤️
thanks for sharing :)
First time I've ever changed the tuning of one of my two guitars, have left one tuned to this while I learn to play it. It's lessons like this that make me love playing guitar. Cheers mate
Just ordered a capo, so I will finally be able to play this haha.
Did it arrive ?
Also sounds great without, i constantly lose mine.
Pro tip, tape it to the head of your guitar
Never really listened to Mumford and sons until this lesson, where have I been!? Such an awesome band and such a great tune to play.
You play it good. Spot on.
It's very cool, not sure I'll do any lessons right away, but I'm enjoying listening to it!! :)
7 months into my guitar journey and this has by far been my favorite to learn - thank you Justin!
You’re right about using the dduu picking pattern, it helps when you chord change and have to pick 6-5-3-4. You’re right as always. Thanks Justin!
Thanks, Phil. I couldn't imagine anyone dis-liking this or any of Justin's postings. I agree with you, what schmuck hit "dislike"? Probably someone who can't make a go of this song.
Mumford and Sons were my first concert, and it was probably one of the best I'll ever see
Thank you so much for this Justin! Mumford and Sons are one of my favourite bands and this is my favourite song by them! I would love it if you could do more M&S songs, I'm sure I'm not the only lover out there. Thanks a lot mate :)
I never fail to be impressed by your lessons Jusitn. So accurate, such great tone, and your delivery is so down to earth. Long may you continue.
More Mumford and sons please Justin!
I used to struggle as well for at least a year after starting, just keep at it!
I love the acoustic songbook and that I get an online lesson to go with it! Fun song.
I know you're more into teaching but I really would of loved seeing you do the whole song. That first minute and a half was great!!
ok now i've found how to spend my afternoon. Thanks man.
I love watching great guitar players like Justin strum/pick. I think people don't value the beauty of great strumming/picking near enough when it really makes all the difference to a song.
PS- Thanks again Justin for introducing me to another great song/band and saving me all the time of watching their live version to figure it out.
Many many many many many many thanks Justin for posting that masterpiece. Man I love that song!
Love this!! I think I will have to stick to the beginners songs for now but can't wait to get to this point!! Love you and your lessons Justin!!
Most clear lesson for this song - cheers!
you are a legend and make things so easy. Thanks

I'm reading this late a night eager to learn it as soon as possible. Been playing for some months now so hope I can play it. Love the song.
Dude you are really good
Thanks so much for teaching me yet another great song. Didn't know I could do this.
Justin, three words.
I Love You.
Very very good finally not only the intro and played super cool and also your explanation…thanks a lot
Really enjoy your playing and how you broke down the song. Thanks
Such a great tuning, I play in this tuning a lot its great for Japanese fingerstyle pieces (i.e. Isato Nakagawa, Masaaki Kishibe) and John Fahey stuff. Thanks Justin, good lesson as usual.
Thank you Justin !

I'm a latvian and I approve this message! Ewert and Two Dragons is easily on par with Mumfords. Even if you Justin don't do a lesson be sure to check them out ;)
So good man. I need to get good enough to learn this. Great talent
This guy knows how to teach guitar.
Thank you very much Justin! You play en explain it nice and easy so it's a pleasure to learn it.

Hey Justin!
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! The best one I've found for this song by far!
Cheers!
Carsten
Just cool - wanted to tune my guitar with capo on and had no idea what I was doing, Now my high E string is broken. Merry Christmas to me :(
Usually not, but you can shift it around to stop buzzing or if some of the strings are out of tune. Usually putting it on at a slant will throw the guitar out of tune but if you re-tune once you put it on, it doesn't matter.
Sang brilliantly man
Very kind. Cheers 😊

One of my favourite songs! THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
it’s empty in the valley of your heart
Justin, you're a a beaut! Keep rocking' my man.
Justin, you have amazing videos! I love the way you teach!
But most of all, I like how you do this mini preview of the song before the lesson and it gets me all pumped up!
Mumford & Sons does it to give it less of an open sound. I noticed this when I tried playing it in open E tuning.
Excellent lesson!
Your vocal vibrato sounds quite appropriate for this song! Almost spot on, just not quite enough of it :) Thanks big time - cheers!
This is brilliant. Thank you. Loving learning this
love this tutorial, i just need to practice of the sliding chords… mine doesn’t sound as well as yours !
Big thank you mate, another great song I learned because of you, best wishes
Sounds awesome
i like this lesson very very much, thank you very very much justin
There's a great Keep your head up tutorial out on UA-cam.
Good luck finding it ;)
This was fun to learn and this is irrelevant to the video but its it possible to do a tutorial of Slow it Down by The Lumineers?
brilliant teaching
hi justin , could you please do a cover of the song " Knocking on heaven's door " (the Clapton version ) . I can play and strum the chords , but I am not quite sure as to how to play the intermediate filling licks in between . Thanks :)
Holy shit dude that is absolutely perfect to the real thing :O how do you do these things you do :O
3:56 dang this part makes me wanna learn heart shaped box now
Subscribed. I'm determined to learn this beautiful instrument within the year!
and how did that work out for you? professional yet?
how did it go?
No one ever learns the guitar. The guitar merely learns ones inadequacies.
Please Keep Singing! :)
Thank you so much for your wonderful lessons! Some of the best on You Tube
Hey Justin, great lesson really cool song to learn and good fun to play. Any chance of doing some more M&S songs like I Will Wait? Keep doing what you do man, you're class

Yeah most of the time you can't trust that site. Lots of searching in the different versions for the right one. Much rather have tablature than chords.
