  • BEAST MODE! One step closer to the boiler install having drilled the flue hole. Not quite as bad as the 500mm thick house walls but still put up a good fight!

    Day 1 Lesson 1 in core drilling = NEVER have the drill higher than your chest. If it's going to grab and break your wrist/throw you off a ladder, with something of that weight held above your shoulder you're dead in the water.

    Two things about this video that I loved...
    1- HIlti tools are the bee's knees!
    2- I was happy to see that you put the pasta into the sauce pan as opposed to putting the sauce onto the cooked pasta! Lol. You sir do it all right :)

    Well done coring that hole with a hand held core rig, that tool is designed for coring masonry, not solid walls, You need the vac when you dry core to take the dust out, otherwise you are just grinding the same dust over and over, as there are no helix to remove the dust like a standard drill bit. All you will do is wear the diamond segments down faster and heat up the core bit. You also should have moved the front handle to be at 90 degrees to the back handle for stablity. Having both handles in line gives no balance or stability. I really enjoy the videos.Pat

      byrnepm 100% agree with the side handle tip. A company I used to work for had an ancient Hitachi core drill with no clutch nicknamed "the widowmaker" it's actually broke 2 or 3 peoples wrists including the boss and they never decommissioned it! I dare say some poor sap is using it right now.

      I use a dd-150 at work and find it very awkward. The location of the trigger means I only have one hand to combat the torque and if you're drilling in a tight corner it can really break your wrists.

    Hi mate just a quick note- when you use core bits. It by nature will have a lot of friction and it can jam the drill... Always use the secondary handle on the front so if the drill bit jams. It should always go into your grip... I will share a video from bosch. Its not the safest like you use it. When you use regular non core bits you shouldn't have a problem. And can keep the handle like you had it there

Redo load bearing walls. Installed boiler and floor heating all four floors. Much easier is mini split heat pumps. Use pex manifold is so much easier to replug house. Did not see your vent plumbing .

    You would have been better to be a bit higher, holding the drill almost above your head tends to let it drop and catch.

  • @osh2023
    @osh2023 4 роки тому

    Very nice result. Perhaps I ran through it too fast, but I missed it on how you were able to get the exact location when drilling from inside after the outside drilling. Small tips: (1) your holding position of the tool wasn't great -- I recently saw a good explanation in a Bosch safety video for drilling, (2) sorry if mentioned this and I missed it, best to use a small angle upwards so that outside moisture wouldn't find its way into your inside walls.

    I used a Hilti DD 150-U to drill a core hole and if it bound up it had a ratcheting mechanism and it didn't torque your arms off. It was actually pretty easy but I was at waist level vs you having to hold it up higher. Wonder if this model just didn;t have a slip clutch in it?

    A company installed air vents in my house so they had a big drill like that but they first drilled a 12mm drill underneath to install a bracket that held the drill straight and takes the weight off the user ,some job when done they just plugged in the hole

    That last frame with the kick - looks like an improper handling technique. You should elevate yourself further (not holding the tool on the same level with the head!!) and also rotate the handle at least 90 deg clockwise - best case keep it at 12 o'clock. The hand position holding the handle should be in supination position (not in the pronation as you do it)
