Hey everyone, hope you're keeping well and safe around the world. I also hope you enjoyed the video. As I said, this is my very first model car build which I thoroughly enjoyed. If you didn't then don't worry - I'll be back to the usual aircraft uploads in the next video! 🇸🇪 I was also having some fun with the video edit at the end too - no apologies for the music choice.... Lamborghini don't really suit classical music 😄

Hello and welcome. Thank you for the kind words. I hope my channel can help you along with your modelling adventures. If you’re interested in a modelling masterclass I offer this on my Patreon page for beginners. www.Patreon.com/theinnernerd. I show all my techniques in more focused and easy to follow videos if this is something you would benefit from 🙂
Thanks Michael! This was my first car so some new things to learn. Keeping it from the box only made the job a little easier for me :) Thanks for watching :)
Very great job! I think this Zero colors are not really blue, but greenish instead. Not like on the actual car, but awesome and I like your version more! Keep it up mate, you inspire me during the builds!
Thank you. Yes the Verde Artemis wasn't really what was on the picture on this and it definately turned out more green than it should've. Anyway cool colour! Thank you and thanks for watching :)
What a strange but beautiful color. The build was excellent! The carbon fiber method is so simple yet effective. I need to get on my Aventador, I just can't decide on body color!
Yes I didn't know this colour existed until I saw a car in exactly this spec out on the road. After some research I found it. Good luck with the Aventador, I vote Blu Aegir for your scheme👍
@@raimee81 Ive got the Aventador on deck and I'm going with the Blu Fontus spec. I'm using Tamiya TS-64 "Dark Mica Blue" as its the closest I could find that's readily available.
Very cool. It's always interesting to see how non-automotive builders approach building cars. You do some things the same way we would, others in ways we never would, and yet others in ways we would never even think to try. always looking for new ways of doing things.
Thank you. Yes this was an entirely new project for me and was a good experience for me to learn new techniques that I wouldn't normally touch. Thanks for watching :)
I've never been a model car modeller but that turned out really well though it seemed to be a lot of work. Perhaps I'll try one or maybe a truck. I do like Kenworth's.
I did the black first and then masked that off to spray the blue. It was easier this way since the blue accents where too thin to get a decent mask on them. Thanks for watching :)
For a first car build that's amazing! I've been building the things for neaarly 50 years and still struggle to get a finish that nice! Could I ask where you got the buffing mop for your Proxxon for, and that sheet of alcantara to cover the dash top - only found incredibly expensive big sheets on e-bay!
keef r Thank you and thanks for watching! I got them from eBay when I started the channel so I can’t remember the detail. I remember searching soft buffing mood though which is a start, took me a while to find them between the cloth types you see loads of. Sorry I can’t be of more use on this but good luck!
Thank you and thanks for watching! I sprayed the Zero at about 10psi and ~120mm from the model. The Airbrush is a Harder and Steenbeck Evolution Silverline with 0.15mm Nozzle
So good...it's now in my stash!! Can I ask where you get your polishing mops from for the Proxxon? My wool ones disintegrate within the first few seconds!! Thanks...
Thank you and thanks for watching! I got these ages ago from eBay. They’re nothing special and do the same as yours by the sounds of it so I can’t help unfortunately. The only thing I will say is I rub off a new one before (the buffing wheel I mean 😂) applying the compound to get most of the fluff off it. Then when applying the polish, barely apply pressure and they should last for a few models before they are shot. Hope this helps and good luck!
I wonder if you could find 1 or 2 very fine mesh/brass screens, maybe 2 of them on top of each other at opposite orientations and place over carbon fiber parts and spray silver thru that for a uniform looking carbon pattern? Idk just throwin an idea out there lol
Thank you! I assume you mean Tom Grigat? His videos are excellent and something completely different to what I am doing with the stop motion capture style. Its hard to say a benchmark when the capture styles and delivery is different but the models turn out really nicely. He does a great job as do many UA-camrs making their style of model 👍
The Inner Nerd well his delivery and stop motion aside, his attention to detail and perfectionism is second to none. If you know of a better modeller out there I would love to check them out 😀
That’s great. I didn’t realise it was a competition to be the best. I’m here because I like to share the love of modelling and enjoy sharing the model making experience with others. If it helps inspire and get people into the hobby then it’s all good for the community 🙂
ciao. congratulations for your job, really well done. please, I would like to ask you what material of fabric you used to coat the car dashboard. thanks
Hello and thank you. The material is Alcantara. It's the actual material used on the real car and can be bought in rolls. I had this left over from another job which wasn't model related
Hi ... admired by your work! I'm Italian and some things escape me even with English subtitles. If I understand correctly, you pass the x22 over basecoat because it is not as aggressive as the gx and do you prefer the gx clear to the 2K because it is easier to sand and polish and because it is thinner and more realistic on a scale model? I would like to ask you what ratio you dilute x22 and gx clear and at what pressure you spray. Thank you!
Hello and thank you. You understood correctly. I thin the X22 and GX100 to around 50/50. The self levelling thinner in the GX100 works best at higher ratios like 50/50 to help dry smoothly. For clear coats I have found that 10psi works best through my H&S Evolution Silverline with 0.15mm nozzle & needle. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)
@@TheInnerNerd Ok ... I use 0.3 to 0.4mm airbrushes, so maybe it would be better to dilute less? How many hands do you give for the Gx? Always thin hands and how long to wait between hands? Thank you! Thank you
Thank you. The Tamiya clear is thinned with Tamiya X-20A acrylic thinner. I try to use own brand thinner to stop any micing complications as some are not cross compatable. Thanks for watching :)

Luis Palma Hello and thank you! I use regular oven cleaner (no water added) and let them soak overnight. This will take off the chrome plate ready for priming and in Mr Surfacer in this case
Wow this looks great! I am using a similar tri-coat gravity color for my tamiya ford gt. What nozzle size would you recommend for the clear metallic topcoat and how do you avoid spraying some areas darker than others? Thanks.
Hello and thank you for watching. I use a 0.15mm needle and nozzle setup on my H&S Evo Silverline and it sprays just right. I use a very low air pressure (8psi) for the Zero paints to reduce the risk of orange peel as well as tip-dry before the paint lands on the model. In terms of layering, I just kept applying in very thin coats until the colour became fully opaque. This is quite hard to determine depending on the colour but once it seems that the colour does not change after applying more, that should be even enough.
Do you have a secret to Super Clear iii? I'm switching from 2K as it's not as readily available here. Tried SC3 with 3 light coats (10min interval) & 2 heavy coat (4hr interval), can't seem to lay it smooth enough as in your video, 1:4 ratio @ 19 psi through Infinity 0.4mm. Any tips would be awesome! Thanks!
Yes... but it’s a secret so I can’t tell 🤫 Just kidding 😂 so the key is to thin it LOADS with self levelling thinner (from Mr Color again). Straight from the bottle I suggest start with a 50/50 mix and see how you get on. I sprayed this thinned to around the 50/50 mark and laid down 2 mist coats to get it bedded in. 10 mins between cycles. Then after that 3 wet layers waited 45mind between cycles. To get it to sit flat you have to get the thinner to do the work or it will orange peel. My method still gets a little but is easily sanded smooth. I spray H&S Evo Silverline. Working pressure 8/9psi on a 0.15mm nozzle/needle setup. Hope this helps you out!
Constructive critisism: You could've thinned down the exhaust pipe with a drill, and personally I think they look better with a matt black inner coat. Other than this it's very nice, and love the color choice, but damn Aoshima is nowhere near the quality of tamiya :'(

How did you mask at 4:17? Did you base it in the blue first and then mask the accent lines and then give it a black coat! Thanks!!
