I LOVE cheap turkeys! I slow cook them and get the meat off. The bones go into the crockpot for a 24-hour simmer for bone broth. Any meat on those bones gets picked off for bone broth soup with vegetables added. The plain turkey meat is used in recipes, but to save freezer space I pressure can it, using the broth a the canning liquid. One pint is perfect for one casserole. I also can "dinner in a jar" by making teriyaki turkey, turkey fajitas, etc. The soup also gets canned. I call this my "fast food" for the days I don't want to see a kitchen. One big turkey can yield a LOT of meals. For a beginner pressure canner, I recommend the Nesco electric pressure canner, which holds small amounts of jars. It makes preserving leftovers very easy.

Golden Crisps are what they are called now, but in my childhood days, they called them Super Sugar Crisps. Honey Smacks are a variety, too. I just always got the Super Sugar Crisps.

What a blessing a free turkey is, especially for a family of 6! Turkey here, in New Zealand, is dreadfully expensive, with the largest weighing well under 20lbs and costing over $120 NZ! So it is a rare treat, one I've not had for years and can't honestly see myself affording again! A good thing Christmas is during salad season! Hahaha! Lots of love to you all! The Christmas cakes are normal size. Little Debbies has 2 sizes. The larger cakes are in a box the size of two of the small boxes. I know this because I've purchases them. Take advantage of free turkey's.
