- Microsoft has just recently layed off over 10,000 employees, including over in their Xbox game division. 343 Industries has reportedly taken a massive hit with even more layoffs, and their recent acquisition of Bethesda wasn't safe neither.

Yeah you ain't lying. The only Xbox exclusive franchise I've played in recent years that made me feel like people who only play on Playstation were missing out was Ori. And I guess Sunset Overdrive, but that was Insomniac, which Sony later finally bought, only took them damn near 30 years.

Not really anything new. Bonnie Ross, Frank O' Connor and Kiki Wolfkill have been running this franchise to the ground since they took over.

This is why I don’t care for the Activision deal. This is also the reason a lot of Ponys keep saying Sony takes the time to build up their devs even if they are bought or not. Microsoft just can’t handle it, Perfect Dark, Banjo, Halo, Bethesda, Fable, Playground games, the problems just keep stacking.

343 were literally handed a golden goose egg in halo CE, 2,3,odst, and reach .
All they had to do was tend to it and let it hatch into a golden goose . But instead they literally put it in a glass jar, fell off the shelf and broke , tried to pick it up and threw it in a pan and scrambled (still scrambling) the living fuck out of that egg .

Many tech companies (even one I work at) have had layoffs due to inflated revenue growth from during the pandemic. Not really a surprise that tech giants such as Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon had layoffs. This is Microsoft not just Xbox.
Now sure what percentage of Playstation’s workforce is in the states, but it could very well be the same for them in the near future.
EDIT: To add a bit more context, imagine this example. You have a team where you have a supervisor, manager, and senior manager; that’s 3 managers on the same team each with salaries that need to be paid. Quickest way to cut operating costs is to cut salaries. Even if a company isn’t broke, they want to be lean.

As an og in the game since the Original nes days I’ve had pretty much every console since then except anything Xbox after the 360.
I feel for the people that lost their jobs. Feels like at the start of pandemic when errbody was getting cut. It's a shame we keep letting these mega corps get bigger so they can lay off more and more each time. Ever continued growth will always come at the cost of those that made that growth unfortunately. Seen it myself as someone who got laid off early 2020 (although of course I got laid off in the telecoms industry) took me a while to get back on my feet but eventually things came good again.

halo infinite was there last chance to get the game to be main stream again but messed up big with the campaign being unfinished and no content for multiplayer. they had 6 years and it was like they made a game in only 2 years lol. time to give the franchise to another studio or multiple studios. Honestly have certain affinity do multiplayer. have anither studio make a flood horror game. and have another studio make a fire campaign with either chief the arbiter or Jerome as the main character.

Gamepass is the plan. I think Sony gamers don’t understand this. It’s like when Sony said we believe in generations but didn’t , Xbox said we won’t leave anyone out. So you play on anything for $15 month. The box is not the point.

MS went on a spending spree for the past 5 years acquiring studios, and they have nothing to show for it. They can't even deliver on full backwards compatibility. I might be trading in my Series X if the PS5 Slim comes out.

Less than a tenth of the OG Xbox library is playable and less than a quarter of the 360 library is playable. There is a lot of room for improvement but they pulled the plug on their BC program before 2022.
I’ve got a Xbox series X, and a ps5 disc version, the ps5 is the better console in my opinion just for the exclusives and controller i like the series X though hopefully things get better or it’s a game pass box lol

(I said it a few times already) Sony fumbled the bag during the PS3/360 era! They allowed two competitors in Microsoft and Nintendo to creep back into the race. And how does Microsoft respond? By COMPLETELY shiating the bed right out of the gate! They overcharge for the XBO by adding that damn Kinect that NO ONE asked for.. THEY threaten to make ALL of their software DRM.. And they had the same tired old franchises. It was literally Their race to loose and they tripped and fell out of the starting gate.. never to recover. This Gen is literally an extension of last Gen for them. As tragic as CV19 was, it actually HELPED the XBSX by creating a demand for SOMETHING to do..

They should drop the Activision deal, i was never an XBOX guy, but I always respected the system. Were witnessing the end of XBOX. No exclusives, no taking risks, awful exclusives. Nintendo and Sony innovate with each console, and Xbox Chases trends. Nintendo makes amazing exclusives, and is family-friendly Sony tries to innovate and push the envelope, and Microsoft cares only about teraflops, and money.

I recently picked halo infinite back up and have been having fun with it on PC. I finished the winter contingency battle pass and got a steam achievement for completing my first battle pass and that 2.9% of other players have completed this achievement..... WHAT?! It's a damn shame man. The bones of this game are actually really good! The gunplay is the best 343 has ever done. Sadly I think this is the game to put halo in the ground for good. It's no longer a tentpole release for Xbox and it will most certainly not sell an Xbox to a new gamer. Microsoft out here trying to make moves in the cloud gaming space and fleshing out game pass but in the end the only thing that sells game pass subs is GAMES.

I think Stanfield and Redfapp might be decent. I'm more concerned with what's going on with Perfect Dark and Fable. Also Elder Scrolls 6 would come too. As far as Halo goes I rather have a Quake reboot for Xbox and PC exclusive and a new DOOM game.

This was bound to happen. Big tech companies are already doing layoffs and Microsoft is too big not to do the same. Especially when parts of there gaming sector has not been productive. No matter how profitable a business has become it can always do better. I think 343 should create a 16bit 2D side scroller Halo game just to prove to everyone that they have the skills to pay the bills.

I think something to keep in mind with this whole thing is that since 2019 to 2022 they went from 144k to 221K. This legit might be because they are just trimming a lot of fat since they overhired during the pandemic. Not a fanboy of MS (I laugh at their shitty catalog all the time) and it fucking sucks so many people are going to be out of a job. But we should still paint a clear picture when talking about the news.
