1980 Mercury 70hp starter removal

Well, after all the work I did to get this 1980 Mercury 70hp outboard "Syncronized" I put the spark plugs back in and the starter is No Good!
So I ordered another of Amazon, and this is what you need to do to remove the starter.

The engineers couldn’t have given you a 1/4 inch clearance lol, love the rooster 👍😁
