The breakup tone is so insanely perfect… if I ever got an amp guitar combo that sounded like that I would hot glue the knobs on both guitar and amp in their current position as to avoid ever deviating from the objectively perfect tone. Obviously a lot of tone is how you play but I would venture a guess that this guy is a bit of an obsessive tone chaser.

This definitely sounds like "I don't need no doctor" era mayer playing with some of the later tapping bending vibes mixed in with some Dead & Co. Era scales for good measure. Almost every one of those licks have been in a Mayer solo.

He uses: Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, Yamaha THR10, TS808, TC Electronic Flashback Delay, J. Rockett Archer OD, Xotic Soul Driven, an SM57, and Bias Effects so you can kind of get a sense of what he uses :)
