    I went through many radios due to condensation under the bonnet... Some fitted nicely some I just couldn't fit under the wiper motor... And yes my cables are looking exactly like yours. Good job and thanks for video...

    man these bugs are a rat's nest of wires. I got really lucky with the electrical not being disturbed too much in my 1970, that being said the person who installed the radio did a terrible job. I appreciate the help.

    Found this video very helpful but I am still having a problem. I bought the same stereo, so the wiring harness is the same. Yellow wire to a constant 8amp slot, Red to a ignition 8amp slot (white 8 amp fuses), well grounded. But every time I re-connect the battery, I blow the 10 amp fuse on the back of the stereo. I returned the first one after I went through 5 fuses, 2nd unit doing the same thing. I am at a loss. This should be such an easy project.

      Marc Bernash I would suggest that you check your wires to see if you have a short somewhere. If you have other equipment installed then you might need to try and use higher fuze (blue or red). These are just somethings to consider. Hope you find and fix the issue.

    Hey thanks for this video but is there another way to install the deck that if you turn the key just once it comes on before the second turn and the ignition lights come on?

    Good job. The only thing I would change is when you are checking for your power (constant on, and ignition on), you want to start the engine, since turning on the ignition without starting the motor can burn out the points in your distributor if the points happen to be closed, and you leave the key turned on too long. Why take the chance?

    Great video, I am installing the same radio and Im getting power just like the end of the video but no sound when or static when I turn on the tuner. I checked the speaker wires and they look to be correct but wasn't sure what to do w/ the blue/white wire. Power antenna. I left it unused, could that be my problem? Thanks

    Question is you’ve connected your 12v constant wire to the headlights but it’s only constant when the headlights are on. But doesn’t need the ignition on for the headlights to be on. But does that mean to turn your radio on you have to turn your head lights on ?

    CCCvwBUG, nice video my friend! I do have a question though. I believe the vw bugs up to about 73-74 have a proper One DIN hole for the radio and I noticed you did not cut out the hole on your 70. Did you cut out the hole prior or was it like that when you got the bug? And if you did, how much material do you have to cut out to fit the One DIN radio? I have 72 SB...it still has the standard hole...

      @cccvwbug4646  5 років тому

      Keith D thank you for the comment. Unfortunately the car already had the hole on this one. From my experience most stereos come with an instal kit with the needed dimensions. I wish I could be more help.

    What should I do if the radio “hole” is to large for a standard 1 din head unit?

    • @cccvwbug4646
      @cccvwbug4646  5 років тому

      Andres Chica if the while is too big then you may need to go purchase a kit that will allow you to install.

    I drive a 69 VW beetle. He didn't have any type of music in him before so I went and got a system put in. I got a kenwood stereo face plate Two amps, two 12inch subs, two 6x9 speakers, and two 6 1/2. Speakers. I don't know anything about wiring stereo systems.
    Would you or anyone be able to tell me why does the vocals in the songs cut out as soon as I turn the volume up, Or as soon as the bass in the song drops?

    what u wire the ignition switch to the stereo?

    • @cccvwbug4646
      @cccvwbug4646  8 років тому +1

      Miguel, I used the wires that came with the radio. The previous owner had a loose thin wire that was connected to the ignition switch terminal so I used that wire. I just did a whole new wiring job on the beetle and will soon do another video on how to install the radio with new connectors.

  • @austinbrown5326

    did the stereo come with the wires?

    • @cccvwbug4646
      @cccvwbug4646  8 років тому

      AUZDAD 123 the stereo came with the wiring harness that connects to the stereo. The long wires that connect from the harness to the fuze box I had to purchase. I went to Lowes and bought them there.

    will it work the same way for a 71 squareback type 3?

    • @cccvwbug4646
      @cccvwbug4646  7 років тому

      soccer wearhouse as long as you find the constant power fuse to keep the memory on the radio and a fuse that has power once you turn he ignition key to turn the radio on your radio install should work just fine. I hope I was clear with my message and good luck. Please post another comment letting us know how your install went. Thanks.
