In all honesty, Blade Runner 2049 deserved to be on this list. They made, what was on paper, the most unnecessary sequel of all time, into one of the greatest sequels of all time. It's leaps and bounds better than Blade Runner. It should've been second to The Godfather Part II on this list.
i wholly agree with you! Blade Runner was my favorite film before watching 2049. guess which is fave now! the way the film is shot, sequenced, written, acted... everything about it screams masterpiece! it's too bad a lot of people are scared by long run times, even though it's far from being a LOTR-length marathon or one of the later Harry Potter films, for which length was apparently not a issue....
Top 5 Sequels Of All Time: 1. The Godfather: Part II 2. Star-Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 3. LOTR: The Two Towers 4. Terminator II: Judgement Day 5. The Dark Knight Others would be...Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Mad Max II: The Road Warrior, Kung Fu Panda 2, Star-Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, & Spider-Man 2.
Easy when the original leaves (a lot of) room to improve: Wrath of Khan, Prisoner of Azkaban, Road Warrior/Thunderdome/Fury Road, The Wolverine/Logan, Hellboy II, Ouija: Origin of Evil, or Annabelle: Creation Some arguably surpass a good/great original: Toy Story II or III, Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator II, Aliens, How to Train Your Dragon II, Despicable Me 2, Bourne Ultimatum, Spider-man II, Winter Soldier, X2, Superman II, Batman Returns, Goldfinger, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Back to the Future III, Before Sunset, Evil Dead II, or 22 Jump Street One unarguably surpasses a great original: The Dark Knight
Im gonna say Godfather Part II cause it further fleshes out the two most important characters in the first one. It goes deeper into both of their lives and what their morals are. That and the Fredo/Michael conflict was extremely engrossing for me. Worth every second of its 3 hour runtime.
To all the people who don't seem to understand how CineFix lists work the real title of the video is "Top 1 Sequel in 5 Different Categories of All Time".
CrazyBiti Exactly, and that's why they give several "honorable mentions" in that subcategory before revealing their pick. All these people complaining about T2 or TDK not "winning" over Split, they just don't get it.
Godfather II has the greatest ending in movie history. The call back to before it all began to close out a story of a families rise and a sons fall into being the devil is brilliant.
How about a 6th category: The Anti-Sequel A sequel that undermines every expectation by bascily breaking every rule in your 5 categories in order to surprise the audience. I know the movie gets shamed alot by not living up to expectation but in hindsight, Kill-Bill Vol.2 basicly does everything to not be like Vol.1. It demystefies the first without killing the story, Bill gets killed in one stroke and Bud doesn't even die by Black Mamba's hands. Even Elle didn't die in the end but gets humiliated in a way that everyone agrees she's off the list. Vol.2 is so unique in it's concept as a sequel, it's groundbreaking when you think about it.
What about the Equel? That would make a good list as well. Force Awakens, Butterfly effect sequels, final destination 4 or 5, and so many others. They can basically go to the theaters and finish this list.
I personally definitely prefer vol 2 to the first one. Yea, it doesn't have a huge fight scene at the end, but it's got all of my favorite scenes in the series - Pai Mei, the ending, David Carradine beign amazing. Both are great, but I just like the second one more.
The way I described the two movies right after watching them: Volume 1 is an action movie with fantastic narrative, Volume 2 is a narrative driven movie with some fantastic action.
I don't think it really got snubbed, it was just stiff as hell competition that year. As much as I enjoyed it, I couldn't kick out any of the nominees for it.
@Tom Ffrench No way bro, both Godfather part 1 and 2 are both widely regarded as some of the greatest films ever made. Hell the first one is widely regarded as THE greatest film ever made. Just look at every list by big movie directors and critics and you’ll see that Godfather is way ahead of empire. Even in IMDb Godfather is higher than empire lmao, and IMDb is mostly casual audience and such.
@Tom Ffrench If you agree that the first Godfather is better than empire then why did you say''Empire is better than the original and part2'' were you talking about the original Star Wars or the original godfather? And Godfather part 2 is still a better movie than empire, although it’s close. But if by ''better sequel'' you mean how much better they are to the originals than empire definitely wins.
I think 10 Cloverfield Lane was a great sequel because it took the opposite direction of the original. The first movie had a huge scope and a found footage style while the sequel was focused on three characters in a bunker. There was also the meta question of whether it shared a universe with the first movie, which makes the viewer wonder if John Goodman's character is trustworthy. I think it was a fresh and unique way to continue to use a movie universe without drawing out a narrative for the sake of cashing in. That's just my opinion though. I'm not sure it belongs in the top 5 but I'd argue I liked it more than some of the other movies featured in this list.
This movie is such a departure that I feel like the cloverfield part was tacked on just for extra money to be made. I feel like it was another movie then a producer thought tacking that on was a good idea.
10 Cloverfield Lane was originally not a Cloverfield film at all, but a random sci-fi thriller. The film was developed from a script titled The Cellar, but under production by Bad Robot, it was turned into a spiritual successor of the 2008 film Cloverfield.
Bourne Ultimatum was the best of all the Jason Bourne movies, in my opinion. And the Dark Knight was definitely better than Batman Begins (it being no slouch either).
I think Batman Begins was a better rounded movie. The Dark Knight had some pretty severe pacing problems and some pretty stupid decisions made by major characters, but every time Heath Ledger is on screen it's such a highlight that people tend to forget that the rest of the scenes can be quite meh.
I see the comment section full of two behaviors: 1. This list is bullshit 2. People responding to the first ones saying that is a matter of originality. Look: this is not a common list, this is about the best movie of each type of sequel they talk about, wich means, that even if there are better movies than those in one of the five positions, they can't replace them, since they are different types of stories. As an example; Logan. Many people in the comments saying that The Dark Knight should be on the list instead of Logan, but, let's think about this: Logan is a Franchise entry, The dark knight is a second story, and the first place in the second story category is The Godfather Part 2, so, even when The Dark knight is better, it just can't replace the Logan. Now, if you want to debate if the movies they choosed are the best, that's something else
Hate to be the guy that points this out as there's a hair's breadth between them in most people's eyes but, in this video you say that you 'wouldn't quite go that far' in saying that The Godfather: Part II is better than The Godfather when, on your own list of the Top 50 Films of all time, it ranks in 3rd, where the original ranks in 4th.
If you read the description of that video it actually says that the list was in no particular order, though maybe they had to make it clear in the video because not everyone reads the description
1. Blade Runner 2049 2. The Dark Knight 3. Godfather Part 2 4. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 5. Terminator II: Judgement Day Honorable Mentions: Logan, Mad Max Fury Road, Aliens, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Creed, Empire Strikes Back, & Spider-Man 2
"Are you going to be so bold as to say there's a sequel out there that actually surpasses the original?" One of the very first sequels, Bride of Frankenstein, was better than the original. As to franchises, most of the Connery Bonds were better than Dr. No.
I haven't seen "Bride of..." but I agree with the Connery Bond comment. "From Russia with Love" has to be one of the best sequels of all time, even better than "Goldfinger" IMHO.
Totally! Where else would you see insanity like shitting dick nipples?! Yes, that is totally a real thing. Do not look it up. I'm sorry for even mentioning it. (not really)
I think it was a mistake to just title this video "Best Sequels." Clearly the video is focused on the best-executed, or most interestingly-executed, sequels. For instance, The Dark Knight is a superior film to Logan, but Logan had, as they said, the weight of a long series behind it. Personally I still think The Dark Knight would've been a better choice regardless for really beginning the serious movement in superhero films that led to Logan so flawlessly, but I understand what CineFix is seeing. The same sort of logic goes for the rest, really. Well, except Godfather Part II, which is just plain excellent. LOTR was filmed all at once and succeeded in making the "boring" 2nd film enjoyable, Creed is simultaneously a great passing of the torch and send-off of the old guard with real time behind it, and Split is a sequel in a way we've seen rarely if ever done before. I know I've essentially just repeated the video verbatim but I wanted to try and put the words into the light that CineFix may have been going for. These may not be the 5 greatest sequels of all time, as the title suggests, but I could see the argument that they are some of the greatest sequels to innovate on what a sequel could be.
Exactly what I think. People who complained why their favorite movies are not on the list clearly don't understand how CineFix lists work. They better go watch Watchmojo for their survey-based lists
Very well put, I agree. There is way too many pissed off commenters on this video who are just yelling at screen because their favourite movie wasn't on this list and forget that this isn't a countdown of 5 best sequels, it's 5 sequels that are the best in their respective category. As you said, the title is badly phrased and changing it would clear out a lot of confusion.
The Worst: 01. The Last Jedi 02. Ghostbusters 2016 03. A Good Day To Die Hard 04. Dumb & Dumber To 05. Glass 06. Blade Trinity 07. Batman & Robin 08. Spider-Man 3 09. Highlander 2: The Quickening 10. The Matrix Reloaded
T2 absolutely deserved to be on this list. Sarah seeing the Terminator walk out of that elevator has to be one of the greatest scenes in contemporary film. You feel the entirety of the first movie as this clearly, well-established bad-ass who has made short work of the entire hospital staff is reduced to a child. It's not my favorite sequel but it makes best use of the medium.
Top 5 Sequels Of All Time: 1. The Godfather: Pt. II 2. Star-Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 3. LOTR: The Two Towers 4. For A Few Dollars More 5. Terminator II: Judgement Day Others would be either...The Dark Knight, Kung Fu Panda 2, Star-Trek II, OR Mad-Max II: The Road Warrior..
My top 5 in no particular order: - Back to the Future: Part II - Spider-Man 2 - Logan - T2 Trainspotting - Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Honourable mentions: Toy Story 2, For a Few Dollars More, Aliens, Terminator 2, Superman II, The Last Jedi
T2 is way better. It's groundbreaking in so many ways while Logan is just a superhero movie with terrible villains. Yes, I liked it, but a hero is only as good as his (or her) villains. They sucked in Logan. No Sinister, no Reavers (comic book version)...
"Groundbreaking in so many ways", technically perhaps, but structurally it's quite archaic. If your nostalgia glasses were ever misplaced, you might spot that while it's an interesting reinterpretation of its core premise featuring compelling action sequences, the dialogue is both stilted and dated (even for the time, Cameron has always struggled with interpreting how people actually talk and it's most painfully apparent here) the exposition is also clunky and uninspired compared to the original and it relies too heavily on standard sci fi and action tropes. Still a great film, but not flawless and as deliberate in tone and subversion as Logan. If you think it was a boring film with bad villians, that says far more about you and your film watching process than the film itself.
@@thewall1179 T2 is good, the story fits well with the franchise but the concept is silly. You wd be very wrong of u thought Logan is a traditional superhero or hero-villain film. Its a dark and sombre character drama that serves as a conclusion to Hugh Jackman's legacy as the Wolverine. The acting is miles ahead of that of T2, moreover Logan is a dismal social commentary on the sad state of affairs in the world.. The only thing T2 excelled in was that the shot sequences and special effects and innovations in that movie were ahead of its time.... The acting was pathetic.
Hitler gave an intense and insane performance, and his “suicide” scene really makes you wonder as to it’s legibility. Wonderful direction by Joseph Geobbels as well
dont be such douches. if they would have had t2 as the last one then it would not have been a sidequel thing it would have been a (whatever kind of sequel t2 is) kinda thing!
Telling a supervillain's origin story as a psychological thriller was a fucking brilliant concept!! So glad you guys had the balls to include Split knowing full well there were going to be haters in the comments.
Fantastic list, especially how you defined each category of "sequel". It's refreshing to see the depth and thought put into these lists, unlike so many other UA-cam channel popularity list rundowns...
I love you give a spoiler warning for Split. It’s very appearance meant you’d done the spoiling, as it was surprisingly well hidden that it was a sequel.
The stages of watching a Cinefix video: 1. Depression from a lack of a Cinefix video. 2. Seein the video in your thumbnail 3. Cheer until you get tired 4. When the video starts immediately like. 5. Learn about some obscure films you never knew existed 6a. Cheer when they pick a film you know 6b. Question one of their choices which will spark controversy and cause debate in the comments. 7. Comment on video. 8. Repeat
Please do a list of good movies that would be *great* if just one thing was removed. The racism in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the end Cards of American Graffiti, and the drugs scene in The Breakfast Club all spring to mind. There’s loads of categories you could create and I know you guys could do a great job of it!
Thanks for the reminder that I hadn't seen Split yet. I DID stop and go watch it before finishing this video. And yes, you are absolutely right about it.
A lot of kickback actually haha. Lots of people angry coz their fav sequel didnt make the cut. But I guess thats better for the channel (more interactions N stuff). They sparked a heated film debate so... thats ok I guess.
It sounded like they wanted to include it, but reluctantly decided to disqualify it from the category as it wasn't a sequel "planned" when the original was made.
Godfather Part 2 and Two Towers are both amazing picks. Two Towers in particular is just a such special movie and holds my favorite monologue with Sam talking about the old tales. Logan is very good but for me I think First Class was my favorite of the X-Men collection. For breathing in new life I think the obvious choice is Blade Runner 2049, one of the best movies of the decade (maybe the best if we aren't counting The Tree of Life). The choice of Creed is absolutely baffling. It is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It's comically shitty in terms of every piece of it's writing and what it does have that's ok is entirely just Rocky cliches. Shit acting and shit writing, borderline unwatchable. Making him the son of another character previously in the series is not an innovative strategy, it's just the straightest line between point A and B. Even the semi-cool fight scenes don't save it at all, the fact that you included that dog shit motorbike wheelie workout scene has to mean this is a joke right? lol. For the sidequels, I have a personal favorite in Get Him to the Greek which if watched under the context that it is partially based on Pete Doherty and that his former band mate, Carl Barat provides help with the soundtrack holds an infinitely greater meaning than if watched raw. Beerfest if that counts is another that is always a pleasure to watch.
It wasn't cut it two to be shown to people twice. Tarantino made the film to be shown all at once but the cut (exceeding 4 hours) was way too long according to the studio, so they cut it in half.
Batman and Robin, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Exorcist 2: The Heretic, Jaws 2 and 3, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, Spider-Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Psycho IV
I choked on my coffee when you said that the x-men films "keep getting better and better". Yeah Logan is the greatest shit of all time but besides that Deadpool and X2 were really the only good ones
Tit0Matic X-Men was extremely enjoyable, but dated. X2: X-Men United, X-Men: First Class, & X-Men: Days Of Future Past were excellent; The Wolverine was fun, enjoyable, but definitely not 'GREAT'.
In all honesty, Blade Runner 2049 deserved to be on this list.
They made, what was on paper, the most unnecessary sequel of all time, into one of the greatest sequels of all time. It's leaps and bounds better than Blade Runner. It should've been second to The Godfather Part II on this list.

They should have a 2 parter (UA-cam video with a sequel lol) of this, and do a top 10. 6-10 then the sequel 1-5.
Because it was either BR 2049 or godfather 2, ano Godfather 2 is much better.
@@rafaelandrade7627 I beg to differ.
Nah Sharknado 2 was definitely the best sequel
Top 5 Sequels Of All Time:
1. The Godfather: Part II
2. Star-Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
3. LOTR: The Two Towers
4. Terminator II: Judgement Day
5. The Dark Knight

Nick Sketch
That is the list on everyone's mind watching this video.
Nicely done
Michael Abramov
Thanks..and although I love Empire more, Godfather: Part II is simply a better film..
Excuse me?? Where is Aliens? 😐😐😐😐
smoshbooz
Not here, and I enjoyed the original Alien film a little more...
Nick Sketch not a fan of the franchise? And while I also like Alien more, it's about sequels so.. and Aliens is still an amazing flick imo
"Are you gonna be so bold as to say there's a sequel out there that actually surpasses the original ?"
Terminator II.
And some would argue Aliens
Easy when the original leaves (a lot of) room to improve: Wrath of Khan, Prisoner of Azkaban, Road Warrior/Thunderdome/Fury Road, The Wolverine/Logan, Hellboy II, Ouija: Origin of Evil, or Annabelle: Creation
Some arguably surpass a good/great original: Toy Story II or III, Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back, Terminator II, Aliens, How to Train Your Dragon II, Despicable Me 2, Bourne Ultimatum, Spider-man II, Winter Soldier, X2, Superman II, Batman Returns, Goldfinger, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Back to the Future III, Before Sunset, Evil Dead II, or 22 Jump Street
One unarguably surpasses a great original: The Dark Knight
Im gonna say Godfather Part II cause it further fleshes out the two most important characters in the first one. It goes deeper into both of their lives and what their morals are. That and the Fredo/Michael conflict was extremely engrossing for me. Worth every second of its 3 hour runtime.
Short Circuit II
never understood people who like aliens more than alien, they are two different approaches sure, just aliens feels much more of its time.
I was kind of hoping that through some incredible leap of logic, the mirror would end up on the list.
Typical cinefix lmao
To all the people who don't seem to understand how CineFix lists work the real title of the video is "Top 1 Sequel in 5 Different Categories of All Time".

Bullshit. It's nothing but playing modernism.
Godfather II has the greatest ending in movie history. The call back to before it all began to close out a story of a families rise and a sons fall into being the devil is brilliant.
The lack of Shrek 2 is disappointing

It's good but it doesn't have the same excitement factor of the originals. When Rocky's fighting I'm stood up boxing in my living room.

I don't think it really got snubbed, it was just stiff as hell competition that year. As much as I enjoyed it, I couldn't kick out any of the nominees for it.
The fighting in the original Rocky movies was awful, if you know a lick about boxing you will know this. Creed was much better.

Jaycer Logan I would argue is better than the dark knight
The Worst:
01. The Last Jedi
02. Ghostbusters 2016
03. A Good Day To Die Hard
04. Dumb & Dumber To
05. Glass
06. Blade Trinity
07. Batman & Robin
08. Spider-Man 3
09. Highlander 2: The Quickening
10. The Matrix Reloaded
Fury Road is absolutely better than Mad Max or any of its other sequels.
Daniel Saldana it should've got a mention for #5 at least
I think road warrior is better
Nathan Ingle Fair to say. One of the two should've received a mention
I still prefer the original Mad Max just for it's atmosphere. It pulls that off perfectly
Road warrior is better
Updates on this channel make me so happy. Thanks for all your hard work!
The best sequel of all time is Lord of the Rings the Two Towers.
Fight me!
Top 5 Sequels Of All Time:
1. The Godfather: Pt. II
2. Star-Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
3. LOTR: The Two Towers
4. For A Few Dollars More
5. Terminator II: Judgement Day
Others would be either...The Dark Knight, Kung Fu Panda 2, Star-Trek II, OR Mad-Max II: The Road Warrior..
My top 5 in no particular order:
- Back to the Future: Part II
- Spider-Man 2
- Logan
- T2 Trainspotting
- Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Honourable mentions: Toy Story 2, For a Few Dollars More, Aliens, Terminator 2, Superman II, The Last Jedi
Shows T2 and picks Logan... yes Logan is good but how dare you not pick T2?!?!?!
Btw Cinefix is the best movie based channel on UA-cam! :)
The five movies chosen in this list is perfect.
My favourite sequel is World war 2. Can't wait for world war 3.
Hitler gave an intense and insane performance, and his “suicide” scene really makes you wonder as to it’s legibility. Wonderful direction by Joseph Geobbels as well
Daniel Day Plainview
You must also hand it to the Jews in going through such rigorous physical changes in body. It was all rather Oscar worthy.
MeidoVegeta 9000 That’s undisputed my man
1. Terminator 2
2. The Dark Knight
3. Return of the king
4. Logan
5. The empire strikes back
Split over Judgement Day?
Dope Terminator
Judgement Day is NOT a sidequel
Learn how to listen.
dont be such douches. if they would have had t2 as the last one then it would not have been a sidequel thing it would have been a (whatever kind of sequel t2 is) kinda thing!
It is a much better sequel in general, however.
This is not some dumb watch mojo list, each movie is the best in a specific category. Fist listen to what they say instead of just whining
Telling a supervillain's origin story as a psychological thriller was a fucking brilliant concept!! So glad you guys had the balls to include Split knowing full well there were going to be haters in the comments.
Bummed that Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey wasn't even mentioned on this list.
Fantastic list, especially how you defined each category of "sequel".
It's refreshing to see the depth and thought put into these lists, unlike so many other UA-cam channel popularity list rundowns...
Way to go, CineFix. Another touch-down!
How hard would it have been to put The Empire Strikes back on here. Like seriously. It's one of the best movie ever made.
I love you give a spoiler warning for Split. It’s very appearance meant you’d done the spoiling, as it was surprisingly well hidden that it was a sequel.
Nice try with re-upload, but no T2, no #Aliens = ₣Ffffffuuuuuuuuu!!!!
damn... what a way to miss the mark...
In no particular order:
1. Blade Runner 2049
2. Godfather Part 2
3. Aliens
4. Empire Strikes Back
5. Terminator 2
Fight me
A sequel that arguably surpasses the original is James Cameron's 'Aliens'.
Finally! A list full of mostly films I've actually seen or know about! Thank you!
I'd definitely have Oldboy (2003) over Split in the Sidequel category. It's part 2 in Park Chan-wook's Vengeance Trilogy.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they'd not count that in the same way they dismissed the "Man with no name" trilogy.
For Me
5. Terminator 2
4. Toy Story 3
3. Day of the Dead
2. Rocky ll
1. The Dark Knight
"they acknowledged their ancestry while drastically asserting their individuality"
This was not Force Awakens.
8. Repeat
No 'Slumber Party Massacre II'?
You snobs.. ;)
Hands down Godfather 2 is absolutely number 1
Please do a list of good movies that would be *great* if just one thing was removed. The racism in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the end Cards of American Graffiti, and the drugs scene in The Breakfast Club all spring to mind. There’s loads of categories you could create and I know you guys could do a great job of it!
Breakfast At Tiffany's is great.
Elias Crooker yes I agree but it would undoubtedly have stood the test of time if it were not for that awful 'yellow-face'
You are wrong.
Why do you want the drugs scene removed from The Breakfast Club? Just curious
Because it's goofy and cringy.
Amazing list great Job on this one you guys killed it
Terminator 2 is not on this list? Considered by some as the greatest sequel of all time and it’s not on this list???
im Unsubscribing as I write this
Great list, can't wait for part 2!
is this a sequel to the original sequel video?
Thanks for the reminder that I hadn't seen Split yet. I DID stop and go watch it before finishing this video. And yes, you are absolutely right about it.
Everyone knows T2 is the best sequel of all time
No. There are others that are just as good or better. Godfather part 2 for example
So much talent goes into these videos... It's amazing. You guys are amazing! And that's no accident. ;)
privatised, un-privatised it, regretted it
Cinefix, why not remaster some old lists you've already made?
They didnt privetised it, they re-uploaded it because they had a audio problem in the Split section.
Monoloco0849 yeah i know but i still feel they not too satisfied with it. there was a bit of kickback
A lot of kickback actually haha. Lots of people angry coz their fav sequel didnt make the cut. But I guess thats better for the channel (more interactions N stuff). They sparked a heated film debate so... thats ok I guess.
The best sequel for me is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Waaaay better than the good original but astounding in it's own right.
Why did you not include The Empire Strikes Back
William Sith as they said, they were making the best of the 5 kind of sequels.
It sounded like they wanted to include it, but reluctantly decided to disqualify it from the category as it wasn't a sequel "planned" when the original was made.
Heck yeah LOTR: The Two Towers is the best story continuation!
"The Godfather Part 2 is the first ever part 2." What about Ivan the Terrible Part 2?
God... Thank you for adding Logan. I literally cheered when you named it.
5. Raid 2: Berandal
4.The Dark knight
3.Toy Story 2
2.Oldboy
1.The Godfather part 2
The Dark Knight, in fact one of the greatest films ever made.
5: Mad Max 2 Fury road
4: Aliens
3: Shreck 2
2: Terminator 2
1: Back To The Future 2
What's wrong with those Movies???
yall mfs dont know how cinefix’s top lists work
Empire strikes back???
Thank you for adding Split
Amazing performance and story, everything just felt right.
Terminator: Judgment day, nº1, undefeated champion, best sequel EVER.
Godfather part 2.
Not sure if /r/movies or CineFix
1 Two Towers
2 The Dark Night
3 Blade Runner 2049
4 The Godfather 2
5 The Empire Strickes Back
"Are you gonna be so bold as to say there's a sequel out there that actually surpasses the original ?"
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
You guys make me want to go on rewatch binges that I will sadly never have the time for in this life
Kill Bill vol 2 isn't a sequel. it's the 2nd half of a movie that was cut in two to be sold to people twice
It wasn't cut it two to be shown to people twice. Tarantino made the film to be shown all at once but the cut (exceeding 4 hours) was way too long according to the studio, so they cut it in half.
Which is why it isn't a sequel. The studio wanted to charge people twice to see the full movie. It's all one movie, just a really long one.
It's a sequel stfusb
yeah you are right! it is not a sequel
5: Cars 2
4: Batman Vs Superman
3: X-men Origins
2: Star Wars Episode 2
1: The Smurfs 2
Batman and Robin, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Exorcist 2: The Heretic, Jaws 2 and 3, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, Spider-Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Psycho IV
Wasn't silence of the lambs a sequel?
A side-sequel, you could make the argument.
Great content! I wish you guys started doing movie reviews and roundtable discussions again.
the dark knight?
over rated?
Elias Crooker no actually its not
Actually it is.
Great movie, but no greatest sequel. This list is for sequels, not movies that are sequels.
Yes it is. Overrated to hell and back just because it's a superhero movie with a somewhat serious plot and no lame cliches.
I completely agree about the inclusion of The Two Towers on this list. It is my favourite LotR movie easily.
LOTR is over rated.
I choked on my coffee when you said that the x-men films "keep getting better and better". Yeah Logan is the greatest shit of all time but besides that Deadpool and X2 were really the only good ones
hahaha yeah, right!? I'm like "they're getting better?! Is that why I can't watch them anymore?"
I thought that First Class was decent and I like Days of Future Past of the X-Men series
Tit0Matic first class, DOFP, and the wolverine
Tit0Matic
X-Men was extremely enjoyable, but dated. X2: X-Men United, X-Men: First Class, & X-Men: Days Of Future Past were excellent; The Wolverine was fun, enjoyable, but definitely not 'GREAT'.
2:31 I believe the actual first sequel to use a numeral in its title is a relatively obscure horror thriller, “Quatermass 2” in 1957.
Logan? Seriously?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy are the greatest movies of all time in my opinion. All 3 movies are flawless masterpieces.
7:51 Did you actually pair that statement with TFA? 😂
Man . You guys really made a meal of this list !!
Aparajito? Satyajit Ray? Anyone?
Ray was spinning anthology serieses when others were in diapers.
