zakfett92 12 Angry Men is legit my favorite film of all time. I'm not even saying that just to be retro or whatever, I really think it's one of the best films ever (more than Citizen Kane, which I didn't like).

***** but my point still stands. There are some who do not know, and kids are born every day! Is not like when a child is born you go "Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father"
Those children's Empire Strikes Back reaction videos are so precious. It makes me smile to imagine what it must be like to NOT know that twist. I can't even remember not knowing.
mr. Wldasoldmysoul4pussyasateen So you're telling me kids will be born and just know these things? Come on, it'll always be the first time for someone.
Oh I can remember not knowing, it lasted until I got into school having seen Star Wars for the first time when it came on TV the Christmas of 1983 for the first time. The moment I got into class I started raving about it, then another boy said he'd seen all three of them. Of course, at the age of seven, he didn't know he wasn't supposed to give the twist away, so one of the first things he told me was... well, you know.
9:57 I never viewed the fan service line in this one: “Come with me if you want to live.” Was put there simply for the fan service. I always felt that that was a deliberate line to have Sarah Connor trust him, like John Connor in the future when he got a hold of this unit and was sending it to the past he knew that if it was going to help his mom it needed to say that line.
With the exception of 2, 3 & 10 I think I would choose those movies as my 11 fav sequels though they would be in a different order and I would probably replace Toy Story 2 with 3. As for the other three I think I would choose one of the MCU sequels (Winter Soldier, Civil War or Infinity War), one of the two Planet of the Apes sequels (Dawn or War) and the other would either be How to Train Your Dragon 2 or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Great list! My personal top 10 favorite sequels: 10. The Empire Strikes Back 9. Logan 8. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 7. Mission: Impossible 3-6 6. Mad Max: Fury Road 5. The Dark Knight 4. T2 3. Aliens 2. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 1. The Godfather: Part II
Yeah Winter Soldier is really good, you’re right, I‘m not a big fan of Civil War tho, generally not a big MCU fan, even though I love Avengers and Iron Man.
I would argue a few of the MCU films actually have already reached that. Sure, they're not generally as dark and gritty as that movie was, but in terms of just being good movies. Though the Marvel movies could do with a few more interesting villains. It's funny that their movie villains are generally a bit meh, but they have amazing villains in their tv shows xD
What amuses me is that after literally decades of critics and audiences complaining that most superhero movies gave us a charismatic, fun villain, they mostly gave us bland, vanilla, uninvolving heroes, as if they expected us to root for the hero just because they were the heroes. This is true of all the Reeve-era Superman movies, all the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies, the Raimi Spider-Man movies, and I would argue even The Dark Knight. Now we get movies with dynamic, interesting heroes, and what's peoples' takeaway from that? "The villains aren't interesting enough!!"
"Great characters" Luke didn't even react to the deaths of his aunt and uncle who raised him. Princess Leia brushed off her planet being destroyed and Han Solo is just a generic give no shits but actually cares character.
He did react, but we didn't get to see much of it, just that stare of shock on his face. By the time he comes back, it's turning dark and he had to have been there for a good time just trying to deal with it. The one that never made sense to me is Leia, she did not react much to alderaan being destroyed.
I don't know but I couldn't put a movie that ends on "and now we go and rescue Han .... END CREDITS" that high on the list. To be honest I wouldn't put it even in my top 11. But I am one of the 5 people that don't think the original Star Wars movies were that great ... I still like them though.
Terminator II was also probably the first time CGI animation was used to its full potential. It looked freaking awesome, and has surprisingly held up pretty well to this day.
Hell, Starwars pretty much owns the Holy Grail to "A movie twist in story" with the scene you already know what im talking about. I even heared that the actors themselves dropped their jaws hearing about it the 1st time
Aleksi Surenkin did you know that the voice of Darth Vader was actually very surprised when he had to say no I am your father even he said ''no he's lying!''
the only people who knew what Darth Vader was really saying was mark hamill and James earl Jones, even the man in the Darth Vader suit didn't know, he said something else but hamill knew the real sentence and knew how to respond.
I think Darth Vader being Luke's father and switching sides last minute is a bit common knowledge now a days. Idk if we need to put a spoiler warning on that
+Pelcogo yeah pretty much, I was spoiled by Toy Story 2 and an episode of Fairly Odd Parents, I had no idea what the original trilogy was at the time either but it was enough for it to spoil me later.
Zettai Ryouiki Jay and silent bob strike back has Mark Hamil in a cameo apperance having his hand cut off with a light saber. Carrie Fischer makes a cameo appearance as well. I didn't even know it was her.
I think it was mainly for the younger generation that may have not seen those movies yet. Hell back when I watched it when i was a kid, I was absolutely floored by the reveal. I kinda feel sorry for the younger generation that might not get the full impact of that scene as it was intended cause of a big spoiler like that getting thrown around sometimes.
20:25 "even the big reveal, which I won't give away ..." I won't give it away either, but I will give away that Romeo and Juliet kill themselves, Jack drowns, and the kid sees dead people.
Rocky 2 has one of my favorite moments in the franchise Duke: He's all wrong for us, baby. I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man kept coming after you. Now, we don't need that kinda man like that in our lives. I know what you're feelin'. Let it go! Let it go! You're the champ.
Hey Nostalgia Critic, Next time you do a sequel month? Why not do a top 11 Most Disappointing Sequels? I know you already did the Top 11 Worst Sequels, but why not 'Most Disappointing'? Like, sequels which were going to be awesome, but the final product did not live up to the hype?
sulacomarine Finding Dory and Monsters University would be on that list. (That is if I were making this list.) I grew up with the originals and when I heard they were getting sequels I was PUMPED. Saw them in theater’s and left super disappointed.
"Star Wars could have very easily been a retelling. Just finding another big ball to destroy, more comic relief, more weird creature to fight. But this movie didn't do that... It waited until the last movie to do that." So true.
+Edward Keane I agree with you as well. In my opinion though, Star Wars is at its best when its gets dark though. Though I'm probably biased due to Empire being #1 and ROTS at #2.
I remember going to see Mad Max Fury Road, my grandfather wanted to see it. So my dad and I took him. Neither of us wanted to see it and thought i was going to suck. We where both pleseantly surprised when it turned out to be amazing! We both kept repeating "What a lovely day!" For the rest of the evening.
Well the movie didn't come out at the time so if he did it for say now you may have different sequels on the list but if he made it longer there will be a lot more
If Nostalgia Critic had honorable mentions Captain America: Civil War Shrek 2 Indiana Jones 3 Avengers: Infinity War How To Train Your Dragon 3 Kung Fu Panda 2
Not everything. The secret ingredient soup analogy from the first film has no equivalent in the sequel. And that's one of the smartest things I've ever seen in any family film.
Who could play the younger version of the oscar winning marlon brando? the oscar winning robert de niro. The character won oscar as both the young and old version, that's some amazing writing and acting
Personally would have added Captain America Winter Soldier. It was a major improvement over the original and probably top 3 best comic book movie sequels.
Cap2, UC BvS, Spidey 2, TDK and X2 are how you do comics sequels. Let´s see how long it will take till one of them will be up for Best Picture. It can only be decades...
Ah, but WW1 has the best scene hands down. When all the soldiers on both sides stop fighting for one beautiful night of peace on earth, that restored my faith in humanity. WW2 could never top that moment, plus it also led to that terrible spinoff by Micheal Bay.
From what I heard on Toy Story 2, the director gave it to someone else to direct. When he went to check on how it was coming, he didn't like what he saw. He tried to get the release date postponed without success. So, they started from scratch and got it finished just in time and still had time to make it so much better than its predecessor.
what does having the internet have to do with knowing the reveal?!?!? even if you have the internet if you dont bother looking up anything about star wars then you'll never know what the reveal is until you see the movie
don't tell anyone what happens with the titanic, it's super secret you guys. oh, did you hear about hitler making a comeback for germany? don't spoil next week's episode when they tell us what his plans are. *rolls eyes*
His younger audiences don't know, sorry you have to shit on all of them. But they don't read all the shit and know all the shit we do. So stop being so negative. #thumbsup
Josh Sinclair True, but it's highs were just as good as the other two films. The final confrontation with Vader and the Emperor still gives me shivers to this day.
Mr. Maskie Just because he can doesn’t mean he has to. Especially since he was most likely wanted to not reveal it for those that don’t watch his channel or aren’t fans of Star Wars. (Although Yes, everybody knew that twist.)
Did he seriously say that it was kept a secret that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the hero in T 2? They literally say in the trailer "he's here to protect"
Bride of Frankenstein really got me. I've seen it only once, but that's because I see it as a very sad movie. When Frankenstein's monster begins to learn and become aware, it's bittersweet. He realizes how much the world has, but the world wants nothing to do with him. He goes on a journey, basically just becoming increasingly depressed. Finally when he gets what he asked for, he just can't bear the sadness anymore. There are moments of happiness, but it's what the monster does that breaks my heart.
It's also a good movie, Yeah it's a part of the original trilogy but people have been critical of the second Death Star and the Ewoks. The good outweighs the bad and the story wraps up in a great way.
Brian Collins the thing is tfa was going against huge odds, the prequels destroyed a lot of credibility that star wars had so they needed to show us that it actually has something more in common with the original series that we love. Let's just hope the next one tries something new.
Not everyone knows them on the internet. This comment was very stupid. If you think people your age are the only ones who escape into the internet and know things you are fooled, because there are many who do who don't know things from our generation. So please, just shut up.
Pierre Perras - Guess what not everybody has been a viewer of Nostalgia Critic from day one, young people who have discovered his channel recently wouldn't know, and some don't know the twist. Lol, so calm down. Don't ruin it for everyone else, and stop being a dipshit. Haha.
Holy crap! As a man who despises spoilers, the fact that you withheld the twist in Empire Strikes Back is so respectable. You literally did not want to spoil a movie that is over 20 years old.
When was the last time you watched Rescures Down Under? Because it's just every bad sequel cliche wrapped up in a bow. It's pretty, but that's about it.
@@CherryBomb_Games Respectfully, I disagree. This film is a great sequel with good, engaging characters, one of the best Disney villains ever made, one of the best soundtracks for a Disney film to date and a story that's well plotted and paced. Any cliches were earned and well executed.
+Jinhunter Slay I didn't like kung fu panda 3 as much. For me it just felt okay. The whole thing just felt lazy to me, and it seemed like more of a comedy movie than the last. And some parts were just cringe worthy or embarrassing to watch. The second one was better but I thought that the third one was kind of a downgrade.
Promateur Ent. I've claimed the right to watch the original trilogy with my 2 grand-nieces. Family & friends are sworn to secrecy on that and a few other things. Thanks NC for not blowing it, a fine example to us all, to consider the younger generation!! ;)
My runners up... Shrek 2. Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Captain America: Civil War. Indiana Jones, and the Last Crusade. Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3. How to Train Your Dragon 2. Muppets Take Manhattan. X2. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors. Logan. Deadpool 2. Halloween, (2018). Incredibles II. Back to the Future II and III. Blade Runner 2049.
BTTF3 was a waiting movie. Waiting for the train to arrive, waiting for Doc to wake up, waiting for Marty to get out of the saloon. BTTF2 was at least a sneaking movie. I'd rather watch people sneak than wait.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Back to the Future Part II, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows Part II, The Bourne Ultimátum, Superman II, X2:X-Men United, Spider Man 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Batman Returns.
Focusing more on special effects and making story and characters secondary to that. If he ever follows through with those Avatar sequels nobody wants then he will destroy his reputation.
That depends on how he approaches the sequels. If he does the same thing over again like the first Avatar then yes that would be a bad thing. However, judging from his previous works he does have and history of making the sequels different from what came before. Cameron is a master at knowing his audience and what they want out of a movie. So for me I think the Avatar sequels will be approached differently and not retread the same ground.
@@generalrygy4532 IKR IT WAS AMAZING AND ESTABLISHED A NEW FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP THAT WAS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, NOT TO MENTION THAT SARAHS DEVELOPMENT IS PERFECT
Liatin1 it's because nearly everything was practical effects and makeup (discounting army shots and overhead shots of sautons tower etc.) The hobbit did most of its orcs and goblins cgi and it looks worse than rotk because of it.
@@banterclaus3528 Agreed. People can tell what's real, even when they can't tell why something looks off. I think the best movies mesh the two. Not everything has to be practical. Sure, it's great to be able to say 'that was real', but it's not always necessary. On the flip side, well made practical effects often look and feel more real than cgi ones. The best, in my opinion, take the best of both worlds. LOTR, switching from makeup and mail clad orcs to sweeping army shots is a good example, or the original Jurassic Park. Another great example were the first few Harry Potter movies. The Basilisk, at least the first 20 feet or so, was a practical effect, as was the animatronic for Fawkes or the moving chess pieces. On the other hand, they tried a practical effect for the candles in the great hall, but after problems with dripping wax, they switched that to cgi. When you try to do just cgi, as in the Hobbit, it just doesn't work right.
Gojirawars 03 I've always wondered how Raimi actually wanted the trilogy to end because of studio interference which is not saying the third one is god awful it's disappointing when you compare it to the first 2.
I feel like Evil Dead 2 was too much retelling and not enough sequel. (both personally and for this list) honestly only about half of ED2 was an actual sequel. Army of Darkness was great though, both as a sequel AND spoof at the same time. It had a lot of dark, creepy, and even some scary moments, but it was done in a way that's light enough for a wider audience to enjoy.
I think that Kung Fu Panda 2 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 deserve to be remembered as good sequels. I think in some ways those films that might excel them above their original movies. For one thing they both feel less formulaic and are far grander adventures than their predecessors. And both have some well done darker moments: Master Thundering Rhino's hammer resting in a crater in the courtyard of Shen's palace, the death of Velka's Bewilderbeast and Draco's taking control of the Berk dragons. Not to mention how dignified both films deal with the death of a parent.
Best Movie Sequels: (in my opinion) John Wick: Chapter 2 Furious 7 Captain America: Civil War Terminator 2: Judgement Day The Dark Knight Aliens Skyfall Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Mad Max: Fury Road Transformers: Age of Extinction The Raid 2 Toy Story 2 Shrek 2 London Has Fallen The Expendables 2 22 Jump Street Kung Fu Panda 2 How To Train Your Dragon 2 Star Trek: Beyond X2: X-Men United Army of Darkness Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence Bad Boys II Hellboy II: The Golden Army Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Other good sequels are... Captain America The Winter Soldier Spider-Man 2 Kung Fu Panda 2 How to Train Your Dragon 2 Shrek 2 Dawn of the Dead Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors Evil Dead 2 Hellboy 2 That's what immediately jumps to mind.
My top 10 sequels would be.. 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Godfather : Part II 3. LOTR: Two Towers 4. The Empire Strikes Back 5. Before Sunset 6. Aliens 7. For A Few Dollars More 8. Three Colors: White 9. Kill Bill: Vol 2 10. Toy Story 2
Arc13 I don't think How to Train Your Dragon 2 was that great, it was very rush and didn't give enough time for character development, specially in Hiccup's mother. I mean, how nobody of Berk didn't recognize her? Did she even had friends, other family members apart of her husband and son? How no one of the villagers get shocked realising that the supposed dead wife of their chief stills alive?
11:50 Am I the only one who likes batman returns every bit as much as batman 89, maybe even liking returns better? I know some people don't like the penguin here because "it's not accurate to the comics" but I really liked Danny devito as the more deformed penguin in its own right. I also liked that the penguin was taking over Gotham legitimately, making batman powerless against him for the majority of the film and even going on to frame batman for murder. Don't get returns it rarely get spoke about.
For the record, I don't think returns should be on the list, dark Knight is better in my opinion, I just don't get why it's never spoke about and why it's glanced over as if 89 is infinitely better and that returns is just mediocre or something
I used to love Returns as a kid. But as an adult, I see a lot of problems w/ it. If it was released as a new movie in this decade, people would immediately point out how much Batman sucks as a hero in it. He just watches a woman fall to her death even though he has a glider, gets his Batmobile easily hacked by remote control, and accidentally reveals his secret identity to a villain in a party. The title also might as well be "Penguin & Catwoman" instead.
I liked it a lot, but people I've noticed things about it that now irritate me. A) The mousy secretary suddenly gets supervillain ninja skills from nowhere after falling from a building. B) This movie started the dumb "two or more villains" trend that DC can never get away from. Usually neither villain gets the development they deserve. C) The Penguin deviated from the source material too much; basically giving him Killer Croc's backstory. Max Shreck wasn't needed and The Penguin should have filled that role as the shifty aristocrat.
Possible sequels he could review : Smurfs 2, Flinstones Viva Rock Vegas, Inspector gadget 2, Garfeild 2, Spy kids 4, and Alice through the looking glass.
@@blahhblahhblahhpoo Fury Road still takes place after the last 3 films. But films in The Dollars trilogy have no real connections. Many people say that Clint Eastwood's character is the same, but he really is not. His personality changes in each film. Also the time period where the films take place changes in each installment. Saying that it's a sequel is like saying that Casino is a sequel to Goodfellas. They have many of the same actors, the same director, the same style and themes, but they are not connected in any way.
With the Bride of Frankenstein, I wish NC would've mentioned that it was THE first good sequel made. Back in 1935, making sequels, especially good ones, was not common. BOF was one of the few sequels made and its success gave Hollywood the courage to try more. Other than that, I agree with its #3 spot!
Shrek 2.

Thanx I was looking for this haha
john wick 2
Where's Shrek 2?
Agent Prime I was getting worried that no one is mentioning MCU and Infinity War in particular in the top 10 comments and their replies
Great list!
My personal top 10 favorite sequels:
10. The Empire Strikes Back
9. Logan
8. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
7. Mission: Impossible 3-6
6. Mad Max: Fury Road
5. The Dark Knight
4. T2
3. Aliens
2. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
1. The Godfather: Part II
No marvel?
@ibzdagamer Logan
No disney marvel?
Maybe honorable mention to Ragnarok but it’s nowhere near the movies on the list.
Yeah Winter Soldier is really good, you’re right, I‘m not a big fan of Civil War tho, generally not a big MCU fan, even though I love Avengers and Iron Man.
No superhero movie to my knowledge has even come close to the greatness of The Dark Knight.
Michael Biland I'd have to agree with you in this. I really can't think of any others either
Spider-Man 2
lol wut, the heroes are dynamic and interesting? everything is just grey mashup mixed in a blender.
Some might say The Godfather is better than Star Wars, but The Godfather doesn't have light sabers does it
No but it does have far more interesting characters and themes which beats lightsabers in my book
Tell me when you can cut through things using "interesting characters and themes". Star Wars has great characters and simple yet relevant themes.
Spider-Man 2 also was an amazing sequel
Don't you know... I'm Electro!
Pelcogo wrong Spiderman.
Pelcogo Nope wrong version he's talking about Spider Man 2 with Doc Ock and it's still the best Spidey film ever.
Deric James The last time you did laundry, you turned everything blue and red.
Pelcogo Hey, the tag didn't say "dry clean only".
Terminator II was also probably the first time CGI animation was used to its full potential. It looked freaking awesome, and has surprisingly held up pretty well to this day.
Hell, Starwars pretty much owns the Holy Grail to "A movie twist in story" with the scene you already know what im talking about. I even heared that the actors themselves dropped their jaws hearing about it the 1st time
Aleksi Surenkin did you know that the voice of Darth Vader was actually very surprised when he had to say no I am your father even he said ''no he's lying!''
yeah yeah,, thats where i got it from
Aleksi Surenkin lol me too
the only people who knew what Darth Vader was really saying was mark hamill and James earl Jones, even the man in the Darth Vader suit didn't know, he said something else but hamill knew the real sentence and knew how to respond.
But then again, Darth Vader translates to Dark Father. So there's that.
I think Darth Vader being Luke's father and switching sides last minute is a bit common knowledge now a days. Idk if we need to put a spoiler warning on that
Yeah I'm surprised people don't just absorb that knowledge through Osmosis at child birth, it's so ingrained into are pop culture.
There's always a few stragglers and there is no real harm in a little warning
I think it was mainly for the younger generation that may have not seen those movies yet. Hell back when I watched it when i was a kid, I was absolutely floored by the reveal.
I kinda feel sorry for the younger generation that might not get the full impact of that scene as it was intended cause of a big spoiler like that getting thrown around sometimes.
20:25 "even the big reveal, which I won't give away ..." I won't give it away either, but I will give away that Romeo and Juliet kill themselves, Jack drowns, and the kid sees dead people.
Don't forget tha ark kills people in indiana jones.
and dont forget the soylent is actually people!
Sarah Trachtenberg No you ruined Citizen Kane!!!!
I had the twist of Empire spoiled for me as a kid, and I resent it to this day. Please don't assume everyone watching knows that already.
wasneeplus
You think that's bad? I had the twist of the fucking Usual Suspects spoiled for me. I've been so angry about that for YEARS!
Rocky 2 has one of my favorite moments in the franchise
Duke: He's all wrong for us, baby. I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before, and the man kept coming after you. Now, we don't need that kinda man like that in our lives. I know what you're feelin'. Let it go! Let it go! You're the champ.
Al Pacino's performance in Godfather part II was the greatest performance I've ever seen. He should have won the Oscar for best actor.
Much rather that than Scent of a Woman!
Art Carney is the worst.
ukhistorian That was prettt much my opinion on Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.
ukhistorian Yep. How he's only won one is beyond me. Best actor ever.
Hey Nostalgia Critic,
Next time you do a sequel month? Why not do a top 11 Most Disappointing Sequels? I know you already did the Top 11 Worst Sequels, but why not 'Most Disappointing'? Like, sequels which were going to be awesome, but the final product did not live up to the hype?
sulacomarine Finding Dory and Monsters University would be on that list. (That is if I were making this list.) I grew up with the originals and when I heard they were getting sequels I was PUMPED. Saw them in theater’s and left super disappointed.
sulacomarine, I think he's done with sequels for a while (except for Alice Through The Looking Glass).
Yeah like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3
Tron: Legacy?
I honestly really enjoyed Monsters University.
"Star Wars could have very easily been a retelling. Just finding another big ball to destroy, more comic relief, more weird creature to fight. But this movie didn't do that... It waited until the last movie to do that." So true.
And the best part is that it could be applied to either 'Return of the Jedi' or 'The Force Awakens' :P
Rinaldot Completely agree, hence why I prefer Rogue One. Although I do think TFA is a stronger film than ROJ, but both are at that similar quality.
+Edward Keane I agree with you as well. In my opinion though, Star Wars is at its best when its gets dark though. Though I'm probably biased due to Empire being #1 and ROTS at #2.
Rob George Same, Empire is a great film, by far the best in my opinion, and ROTS certainly has its moments- really takes off in the last act.
Edward Keane The novelization of ROTS is better (if you get the OST to play in the background).
The visual effects in Aliens, particularly the Queen, still look amazing today and has aged far better than many CGI effects that have come since.
Love him or hate him, James Cameron always has amazing visuals in each of his movies.
Besides Empire, I think "Logan" could be considered one of the best sequels of all time, if not at least the top 5.
Well the movie didn't come out at the time so if he did it for say now you may have different sequels on the list but if he made it longer there will be a lot more
Logan? Top 15 for me.
Endgame and bladerunner would have also been here as well
@@rjcorreia3788 Endgame? Not really
Did you just avoid spoiling Empire Strikes Back?
+Goat And Dog
No, that was in Jedi.
Goat And Dog
You really should.
Yeah, I think that's why only children are recorded with their reactions, since everyone above the age of 10 knows it.
Homer Simpson spoiled it for me.
Good man that critic.
If Nostalgia Critic had honorable mentions
Captain America: Civil War
Shrek 2
Indiana Jones 3
Avengers: Infinity War
How To Train Your Dragon 3
Kung Fu Panda 2
Winter Solider over Civil War imo
Dawn Storm respectable, but I personally just have a slight inch for Civil War over Winter Soldier, mainly for the action.
@@knyte8706 And that's totally okay! I just really like Winter Soldier : P
The reason I picked Civil War over Winter Soldier is that it broke apart the Avengers and as a result losing the battle in Infinity War
@Michael Kim Why don't you like it?
Before watching
Aliens
T2
Empire
Godfather sequels
Dark knight
Star Trek movies
Boss Man Godfather sequel*
Damn son.
Ayden McGee actually there's sequels
T2 came out after this was made-but yesss one of the absolute BEST sequels to anything for sure!
Most by-the-books answer ever
how to train your dragon 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2 better be on here
to be fair he did praise them in his sibling rivalry's but its true in the grand scheme of things they are high but not that high
Two of the best sequels ever.
And Shrek 2.
How to train your Dragon 2 is one of the best movies ever made. ever.
L33TBrownGuy prepare to be disappointed
Kung-Fu Panda 2? That's my favorite sequel. It upped EVERYTHING the original had to offer.
Isagail Carshuen Damn that's a good one. Also, How to Train Your Dragon 2, that one hit me hard!
Not everything. The secret ingredient soup analogy from the first film has no equivalent in the sequel. And that's one of the smartest things I've ever seen in any family film.
You misspelled Shrek 2
I've seen it, and Shrek 2 improved on the first more than Kung Fu Panda
Whatever helps you sleep at night
Who could play the younger version of the oscar winning marlon brando? the oscar winning robert de niro. The character won oscar as both the young and old version, that's some amazing writing and acting
Personally would have added Captain America Winter Soldier. It was a major improvement over the original and probably top 3 best comic book movie sequels.
I would also throw in Civil War in as well
and we would throw you out of the room for saying that
+Armlace nah ist fine
I would watch Winter Solider over it though
Cap2, UC BvS, Spidey 2, TDK and X2 are how you do comics sequels. Let´s see how long it will take till one of them will be up for Best Picture. It can only be decades...
What about world war 2? it was so much better than ww1
***** You can't deny the villain though, who even was the villain in the first one? so forgettable.
***** There is a strong possibility that there's going to be a reboot of the franchise
Ah, but WW1 has the best scene hands down. When all the soldiers on both sides stop fighting for one beautiful night of peace on earth, that restored my faith in humanity. WW2 could never top that moment, plus it also led to that terrible spinoff by Micheal Bay.
I hear the movie got a small loan of a million dollars.
Xanthia Geist Yeah, and it had too many children die and the motivation to fight the war was hard to grasp.
SHREK 2 SHREK 2
SHREK 2 SHREK 2
He also said he thought it was one of the best comedies ever, so what the HECK?
At least 11 better movies- you can like something and still like a ton of other things more!
He really felt like he was leaning more on popular opinion than personal taste with this one, referencing academy awards and stuff.
From what I heard on Toy Story 2, the director gave it to someone else to direct. When he went to check on how it was coming, he didn't like what he saw. He tried to get the release date postponed without success. So, they started from scratch and got it finished just in time and still had time to make it so much better than its predecessor.
20:26 OH COME ON! Anyone on the internet knows the "big reveal".
what does having the internet have to do with knowing the reveal?!?!? even if you have the internet if you dont bother looking up anything about star wars then you'll never know what the reveal is until you see the movie
don't tell anyone what happens with the titanic, it's super secret you guys. oh, did you hear about hitler making a comeback for germany? don't spoil next week's episode when they tell us what his plans are. *rolls eyes*

I'm surprised Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade didn't make the list.

To me, there is no weakest film of the original _Star Wars_ trilogy. They were all a beginning, middle, and end of an amazing story.
Personally I never saw them.
Josh Sinclair True, but it's highs were just as good as the other two films. The final confrontation with Vader and the Emperor still gives me shivers to this day.
Terminator 2.
The four musketeers.
Empire strikes back.
Aliens.
The two towers.
Dark knight rises.

Critic talking about Empire Strikes Back: The big reveal, that I won't give away...
Me: Bruh, It's Star Wars. Literally everyone knows the big reveal.
Mr. Maskie
Just because he can doesn’t mean he has to.
Especially since he was most likely wanted to not reveal it for those that don’t watch his channel or aren’t fans of Star Wars.
(Although Yes, everybody knew that twist.)
He said that for us to chuckle :)
Did he seriously say that it was kept a secret that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the hero in T 2? They literally say in the trailer "he's here to protect"
Ripley Harvey I didn’t see the trailer so it shocked me lol
I don’t think many people saw those trailers.
There are moments of happiness, but it's what the monster does that breaks my heart.
i wish more people would notice it.
I don't know about you guys, but I adored How to Train Your Dragon 2!
Jamie Wilde aside from empire strikes back it's my favorite sequel.

Comment of the year.
Pretty sure TFA is more guilty of repeating A New Hope than Return of the Jedi.
Brian Collins that's because people blindly protect 6 because it's an original
It's also a good movie, Yeah it's a part of the original trilogy but people have been critical of the second Death Star and the Ewoks. The good outweighs the bad and the story wraps up in a great way.
Brian Collins the thing is tfa was going against huge odds, the prequels destroyed a lot of credibility that star wars had so they needed to show us that it actually has something more in common with the original series that we love. Let's just hope the next one tries something new.
TFA did A New Hope better than A New Hope.
Wow, how dare I have a different opinion
Surely you already know that you're gonna have to redo this list after Space Jam 2 comes out.

Says he won't give away the twist ending of Empire Strikes Back, yet *_EVERYONE_* knows the twist more so than their middle name!
Not everyone knows them on the internet. This comment was very stupid. If you think people your age are the only ones who escape into the internet and know things you are fooled, because there are many who do who don't know things from our generation. So please, just shut up.
From ''your'' generation, dude, everybody knows this line and every body that watches The Nostalgia Critic knows too.

It's pretty, but that's about it.

James Cameron aka the master of sequels and the box office
He's Lucasing himself
Dick pole In what way would you saying James Cameron is George Lucas-ing?
Focusing more on special effects and making story and characters secondary to that. If he ever follows through with those Avatar sequels nobody wants then he will destroy his reputation.
That depends on how he approaches the sequels. If he does the same thing over again like the first Avatar then yes that would be a bad thing. However, judging from his previous works he does have and history of making the sequels different from what came before. Cameron is a master at knowing his audience and what they want out of a movie. So for me I think the Avatar sequels will be approached differently and not retread the same ground.
Jo$h Hopefully he will focus on both special effects world building character arcs and avatar 2.

That came out in 2003.
What about jurassic Park, also stunning, from 1993 and Looks better than many Movies today

Solomon Wyatt yeah, I'd have to say Evil Dead 2
I feel like Evil Dead 2 was too much retelling and not enough sequel. (both personally and for this list) honestly only about half of ED2 was an actual sequel. Army of Darkness was great though, both as a sequel AND spoof at the same time. It had a lot of dark, creepy, and even some scary moments, but it was done in a way that's light enough for a wider audience to enjoy.
Army of Darkness. Hail to the King, baby.

The Godfather 1 and 2 are the
greatest pieces of cinema.
Agreed, and nothing can touch Part II in the discussion of sequels......
Citizen Kane
@@CherryBomb_Games yes even citizen Kane
@@CherryBomb_Games more influential than Godfather, but quality-wise - Godfather is a better film.

Batman Returns >>> Batman.
Nicholson = OVERRATED JOKER.
Danny De Vito = BEST Batman Villain EVER
Callum Dent I'm right with you. Batman Returns in probably my favorite superhero movie.
YOU FORGOT ACE VENRURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS!!!
cool, early and doug we love you
+Christian Diaz
Thanks for watching!
Channel Awesome can you do 2001 a space odyssey?

Toy Story 2 is my favorite of the 3
same though
And if Empire Strikes Back isn't on here I will find you.
Me too.
Shrek two is better than shrek but worse than both toy stories, and toy story 2 is better than 1 imo.
Gojirawars 03 same
Possible sequels he could review : Smurfs 2, Flinstones Viva Rock Vegas, Inspector gadget 2, Garfeild 2, Spy kids 4, and Alice through the looking glass.
Nathaniel Foga He already covered inspector gadget 2 in Disney month
***** Yah, but he also did disneycember video on hocus pocus and ponyo , which he did Nostalgia critic videos on so i dont see why he cant.
he needs to review Garfield 2 the first one he reviewed made me laugh
Synchaos Oh i tottaly agree!!!!
I think he'll review Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 and Garfield 2.
The ending of The Bride of Frankenstein blew my mind
What about the good, the bad & the ugly?
I don’t know if that counts. It would be like calling the worlds end of hot fuzz a sequel
@@nateds7326 Fury Road shouldn't count then.
@@blahhblahhblahhpoo how
@@blahhblahhblahhpoo Fury Road still takes place after the last 3 films.
It's a prequel
Not giving away the big reveal from Empire Strikes Back.
Bless you, sir.
Perfect way to start off the New Year :)
I saw Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
It was so awesome!! It truly is a masterpiece.
I'm sad spider-man 2 wasn't on this list but still a good list none the less.
Justin Tolley, *nonetheless
It is good but not one of the best ones
yes it is one of the best
Another good call
I don't get why people call it overrated.
I hate the poo sound effects so much oml
College Kid ASMR same it makes me cringe and want to turn down the volume
