Hey there; the main body of the video actually ends at 33:40 for those who are interested purely in that, though I'd super appreciate it if you stick around until the very end to hear what I have to say. I basically worked a sort of mini channel update into the end of the video because no one ever really watches actual channel updates (and because it's my channel, fuck you) and because I had a couple of important things I wanted to say. I just wanna say that the problem I talk about at the end of the video really isn't as big a deal as perhaps I (unintentionally) made it seem, but I wanted to respond to it regardless because I think it was worth addressing and because as I say in the video - I value communication a lot. Only a handful of people have shared this sentiment. Thanks very much, and enjoy.
I love this game so much! It’s my favorite game of all time! I 100% the game twice in normal and master mode when it game out, now I’m in quarantine I am playing the game again and I’m still having so much fun!
I too am british and have aspergers. I absolutely LOVE your voice and happy listened to every word. I quite like both styles and wish I found your channel sooner. I too much prefer when people are more real on this platform as for me at least, that's kind of the main point of it and we do need more subjectivity within reason as long as it's respectful. Keep up you mental health, try not to push yourself too far and put yourself first and I'll look forward to the video. We need more people like you in this world. Stay safe.
I totally understand how you feel. I’ve been wanting to get into UA-cam, but I have no equipment or experience. I’m also a tad insecure with myself. I just remind myself that judgemental people are not the arbiters of what is and isn’t valid. We’re all unique and should express our individuality. Holding ourselves back from engaging with others and leaving our comfort zone will prevent us from reaching our full potential.
Fudj, it is really rare that I feel the need to leave a comment on a video, but this one really pushed me to do so. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your video and how much I enjoy your personality. Ever since I found the channel I can't stop watching your videos because it feels so good to listen you talk about anything. Gotta say that I love your voice! Can't quite pin down what about it is so good but I could listen you the whole day, your voice is just that soothing and unique. Keep up doing what you love, because we love you and what you do.
I actually feel like the weapon durability system solves one of the major issues with loot-based games, which is trash loot If every weapon breaks, then it's always worth looking at a weapon, even if it's a sidegrade or worse
I found with every weapon breaking it meant that I was more inclined to use the physics of the game to preserve weapon durability and it created clutch , memorable situations
For me it just made me want to avoid combat when I had filled my inventory with powerful weapons because doing so wouldn't really reward me with anything, it would just make me waste weapon durability on the same enemy types that I have already fought over and over.
Oh I feel that. With games like Skyrim it really sucks to do a really long quest just to be rewarded with a weapon worse than what you're already using
Now which would I prefer: -Actual Footage From My Stand-Up Comedy Stint | Fudj's Thesis LIVE -Why I Was So Wrong About Skyward Sword (125k Subscriber Special)
This video is very relatable for me. I also recently decided to finally start my own channel, and make videos. Also about Breath of the Wild. I also have a general distaste for my own voice. But I managed to ignore it, and just go for it anyway. Very inspiring video. keep it up!
I see lots and lots of people writing similar stuff, but here's my comment: You are seriously awesome. First thing, off the bat, the production quality is insanity. I thought you must have had a few hundred thousand subs, at the very least. This is evident straight away. Two, a suggestion about distinguishing your comedy from analysis: you could make the thumbnails of your comedy videos more obnoxious/clickbaity? Big red arrows etc? Subconsciously, a viewer is less likely to take the video seriously. It sets the tone differently, yet still maintains the comedic surprise element. Three: the content, analysis, and comedy is so, so, so, good. I watched a fair few reviews of SwSh. Most of them feel samey. Meh, Pokemon downhill, etc. When I watch your videos, you totally accomplish your goal. They are unique in tone and style, and they have an awesome and unique point or insight to make. Keep it up. My friend asked which UA-camr I had "been with the longest" and made "the most profit." What he meant was which UA-camr had I been since they were small and made it big. I think I had the best record (first 4k of Michael Reeves from his first video to 4.6M, and first 50k with Mandjtv to 1M). If someone asked me who I thought would be my next big one would be, it would be you for sure. With this amazing content, 100% going to make it big. No doubt in my mind.
@@NocturnalFudj This channel is truly something extra. I've watched most of your pokemon analysises(sorry) and I those videos really appealed to me. Your video on 2D vs 3D platformers gave me an entirely new perspective on both game design and innovation. Keep up with what you're doing and stay safe.
The thing is, you just gotta do what you want and make what you want. The best creators on this site are the genuine ones who make what they want, not what everyone else does. They’re the ones who seem happiest and, in the long run, most successful, and they’re the best of what UA-cam has to offer; just people doing what they love. Just keep doing what you’re doing man, you’re great at it and it’s apparent that your heart is in it.
I know this may be odd. I don't always comment but I felt I should this time. Something about your videos keeps me entertained. Both your more comedic and analysis videos work to entertain me personally and it's much appreciated. As someone who tried to make videos and gave up due to family obligations I can understand your feelings on not liking your voice. However I and I know others really like it. I find it somehow soothing and the accent charming and works really well when doing some of your dry delivery jokes. At any rate. I came because of your smash video but I stayed because I like your content. Make what you want to make and your long lasting audience will come in time. I know I'm a fan and wish you all the best. Also I really like your profile pic character. I don't know why but it's really eye catching.
Also another thing that doesn’t break the immersion for me is that most things you can do in this game end up making you stronger and help you prepare for your fight with Ganon, so wandering off and doing other things almost always feels like making progress towards finally being able to take on Ganon rather than wasting time since you’re always working towards getting better gear and upgrading your heart piece/stamina limit for that eventual confrontation.
If I wasn't already subscribed, this would definitely be the video that would make me want to. I love your honesty and openness. Your backstory hits a little too close to home and was by far my favourite part of the video. I quite like these videos more than your analysis ones, and I would be more than happy to just chill along for the ride, where ever it may take me. Keep doing what you're doing and just be yourself. That is more than enough for me.
Its great how I can revisit BotW a year or so later after playing it, and still discover new and exciting things, so raining praise on this game once again just feels right. On that note, great video man, looking forward to more from you!
I actually like the comedic bits sprinkled with the analysis and criticism, it's like making a good pasta sauce, you gotta have some sweetness between the saltyness and bitterness to enrich the flavor.
I really really love when you talk about yourself and be all personal. It feels like I'm taking a peek into a diary. "Humans on youtube" is a phrase that's going to stick with me. I was literally clapping and pointing at the screen with the dumbest smile on my face at 16:20 when you were talking about "stories don't have to be interesting, they just have to be your own". That part really speaks to me and the type of person who I am. I'm a highschool student and my ride doesn't pick me until about an hour or two after school is over, this leaves me with a lot time to kill on a daily bases. So one day I just approached a stranger (who didn't look too busy, im not that obnoxious) and started chatting them up, eventually, our conversation took an incredibly deep turn, the kind that have with your best mate at 2AM, we still don't know each other's names to this day. I went home that day with a giddy grin on my face that day. So I decided to do so again, and again, eachtime with a different stranger (who seems friendly enough). I'd keep doing this untill these 25 or so strangers became familiar faces each with a different story to tell. I don't know where this was all going im just gushing about. TLDR : 16:20 really means alot to me and thanks for saying that
Also... I totally understand that Stand-Up struggle. I'm a stand-up in Tokyo who has been struggling with my personality and getting people to laugh in the weekly club format.
Since you value stories so much, maybe you'd be interested in mine. I recall the first time I made it to kakariko village in botw. it was back in 2017-2018 or so, I had first gotten my switch and stayed up the entire night playing zelda, and as soon as I finished the great plateau games like oblivion had conditioned me into following the quest marker. so, i went to kakariko the entire opposite way it was intended, climbing along the mountainside in the technically most straightforward fashion. had to run from my first guardian there, it's an experience i'll remember always! thanks for listening to me ramble, whoever reads this
Actually side mission like shrine quests, all memories and finding all shrines are one of the best side missions i ever played in open world not in terms of story but due to gameplay. They emphasis exploration.
Your videos are really well produced in my opinion and I can easily watch tonnes of your videos during quarantine because they’re super entertaining :)
Your videos make me so happy, not like that fake internet dopamine kick happy but genuinely enjoying myself from start to finish unlike most other youtube content i consume. Congrats on the 10K you deserve every bit of traction and success this channel has gained :)
Your continued support from the start has honestly been a real factor in me keeping on going man, people voicing their support when you're not big is so rare and so hard to come by Thank you so much
I think that the weapon durability is not an issue and is actually a strength. I know people might think that I'm crazy, but having to think about when/if a weapons going to break, when I need to have a surplus of strong weapons when attacking the castle or going into a major combat test or whatever, is a strength. I also think that there could have been a rebuild/refresh system on top of what we have and it would have worked out well. But having to think about weapon durability is a good thing. It forces you to use your entire arsenal and be creative.
On the off chance you see this i just wanted to say, I honestly love your videos and your personality man. You're an inspiration to me personally for someone who's stuck in uni after being snowballed into reaching what teachers and family tell me I have to do to get a good job (fuck the UK education system for that). I've never really felt motivated to follow things I'm interested in and hearing your monologue made me reflect on myself and what I really like to do. What you said about needing more "human" youtubers is very true, and hearing that you are making the videos YOU want is really refreshing to hear because getting tied up in trying to appease the algorithm drives people crazy. I feel that the reason why open world games are always in high regarding because some critics always look for a sense of "realism" in games, by realism I mean just as in depth and complex as everyday life (the "everyone will remember that" type of games) because people look for an escape from everyday life (and there is no problem in that). People overlook games like Mario cart and Tekken because they have a straightforward format to it that cant be put in such depth and that format (rightfully so) has remained the same since its beginning. I personally never feel like I'm in the drivers seat when playing Mario cart or actually fighting someone in tekken, but in open world games you can immerse myself into the character you want to create and that has a different impact on people. But that isnt to say games like Mario cart are "worse", you cant judge a game like that in the same way as open world games in the same sense that you cant tell a fish to climb a tree. Apologies for the long paragraphs. XD
Hi! I just wanted to say I really enjoy your work; seriously good stuff. And I also found the "ramble" at the end of this one very interesting. As a washed up ex-UA-camr myself, I think you've got the right idea. Make the things you want to make; no more and no less. I think some content creators lose sight of this eventually, and when they do, people can usually tell.
You, my friend, have a gift. You managed to advertise a 40-minute Breath of the Wild gush, make it only 39:59 long, devote almost a third of that to completely separate topics, yet still leave me satisfied and wanting more from your channel. Love it. And of those "separate topics," they were personal stories. Which in some situations could come off as self-agrandizing. But here they were enjoyable, engaging, relatable (haven't we all been that struggling London comedian?), and (like the rest of the video) left me wanting more. And I don't know if it was intentional, but it even felt like it led into your points about BoTW being Nintendo's first try, with them STILL knocking it out of the park. And even if it were WHOLLY unrelated...I still felt like it fit perfectly well with the video? Again, you have an amazing gift to make "clickbait" (lol) that is not clickbait and satisfies me wonderfully; to go on tangents that engage; to be self-depricating while still being inspirational; I bet you could even talk about sausages for a half hour in a 15-minute Metroid review video and make people praise it as the best Lord of the Rings analysis ever. I don't know what that means, but it's a compliment. Take it. It's yours. Kudos. I'm serious. Have yourself another subscriber! And also you're British which means your voice is great. And yes, all Americans/Canadians want an English accent of some sort.
This video is a masterpiece. Might sound crazy but this is my third watch now and I love it. This channel deserves a whole lot more attention than it gets. Keep up the great work.
loved getting to know you in this video as much as i loved playing botw for the first time-which is to say, a lot. have been working through your catalog of videos since a friend sent me the most recent pokemon one, and haven't come across one that i didn't find entertaining. i think the fact that you're doing your best to focus on putting out what you want to is really big. seems to me that it lets your personality shine through, and i've found it really fun to just listen to you talk about whatever you decide to talk about, in whatever manner you elect to do so. it's been a long time since i subbed to a new youtube channel, glad yours could be the one to break that. as an extra aside, im definitely gonna try and keep a couple of the things you mentioned regarding content creation in mind going forward with my own stuff, thanks for that stimulus
One thing I’d add about the weapon fragility thing is that it also infinitely increases the game’s opportunities for the little, personal “stories” you talk about. It forces you to interact with the world more via resource management. It gives risk-reward excitement when you stealthily snag a cool weapon from a dangerous Hinox you’re dreadfully unequipped to fight. Because you’re constantly encouraged and rewarded for scouring the scenery for weapons, you have a greater chance of finding all the little secrets in the world, both practical (like Korok seeds and hidden shrines and fairies), and cool/mysterious sights (like the dragons or Ganon’s horse or Kass or the small cliff with a hundred of all kinds of mushrooms on the side of a mountain, etc.)
I usually rate a game by how much fun I had and how it made me feel. I tend to prefer a nice story that leads me along like the witcher. Even with that said I loved breath of the wild. The reason I enjoyed it so much was that I played it with my 9 year old sister. Seeing the different ways we approached the game really made me appreciate it more. I approached combat like it was a souls game, just perfect dodged or parried everything and didnt pay too much attention to the surroundings. My sister on the other hand was terrified of everything. so she would sneak alot and payed attention to boulders barrels and grass she found weird ways to fight alot of things if she could.
After seeing dozens of “BOTW is overrated” vids and reading comments of the same, I’m so glad you made this vid, it’s a huge breath of fresh air. I’m glad more people are finally appreciating the game for what it did. It’s very flawed yes. But what it did well, it did so well that it deserved the praise.
Rayyan Karim I tend to fall into that camp, but I also think this was a huge step in the right direction. I hope they stick with what was done right so it can evolve into something amazing. Definitely a breath of fresh air
Hou Isthis exactly. It’s okay to think BOTW is overrated, but where I think people just start hating is when they say it’s a bad game, or that it “ruined zelda”.
"It's very flawed", then it's clearly not a 10/10 though 🤔 The only reason one would have to put it like that is because every even midlyl mediocre game seems to get a 7/10 instead of a 5/10
MaakaSakuranbo every game ever made has flaws, it doesn’t mean it can’t get a 10. That’s not what a 10 means, because no game is perfect. A 10 usually means the best games can get, or the game did something incredible. Which breath of the wild did do.
@@RK-zc6gj I disagree that a game doing something incredible warrants it getting a 10/10. Is Super Mario 64 a 10/10 for revolutionizing/founding 3D platformers even though later iterations of 3D Mario vastly improve upon it? Do each of those later games get 10/10 too for continuing to improve? Breath of the Wild assuredly pushes the boundaries of exploration in open world games, but it has major flaw in every other aspect of design. To me, that doesn't make sense for a 10/10. To properly rate a game, you should take all aspects of its design (exploration, combat, puzzles, music, story, visuals, etc.), rate each of them and then average the scores to find the final result. I can see BotW being a 10/10 for exploration, but all of its other aspects (other than maybe visuals) would be lower, so a 10/10 overall score wouldn't be the case.
I think that the symbolism of the game is done so well through the gameplay. Hyrule Castle as a metaphor for Zelda's struggle of being forced to stop the great evil is amazing to me. On the outside she is forced to be defensive and strong and have a stiff upper lip, yet on the inside her true colors come out and she is complex and invaded with monsters. You can see the inklings of what the castle used to look like and how grand it used to be. I love also how her basically laying dormant inside Ganon is a metaphor for her becoming consumed by her guilt and inner demons, only for Link, who represents courage, to give Zelda the courage to grow into a powerful woman who can accept herself for who she is, rather than what she is expected to be by her father or kingdom.
I really enjoy the weapon durability system. Its goal was to make you try something new, and for me, it did just that. I wouldnt have known that spears would be my favorite weapon if didn't break all my swords during a lynel run.
I think it is impossible for an open game not to have "flaws" since they are so big in scope, so I totally agree BoTW can still be 10/10 while it has some "flaws". I find it especially funny how people disagree about the flaws. For instance, I have had discussions with people who think the stamina system is a flaw, while I think that without the stamina the game would become so easy it would become boring. I think the stamina system is genius since it sets a limit to an otherwise limitless game. A limit that easily is surpassed by elixirs, food, doing shrines, gear etc... Recently I have also played the witcher and skyrim and while liking both they don't give the same feeling as BoTW to me. At first playing witcher 3 after BoTW for a while, I thought it surpassed BoTW but it really didn't in the end. It's like you said I was looking at the minimap all the time, I tried turning it off but that was cumbersome to me. On BoTW I always play in pro mode without the map and it is the only open-world game where I don't look on the mini-map. It is one of the only if not the only game where it doesn't feel I go from checkpoint to checkpoint and just enjoy the art style and the experience as a whole, rather than just following the narrative.
Haven't watched the entire video yet about 8 mins in, but just on the point about the exploration in Botw compared to other open world games, god I entirely agree so much. Like, I enjoy Fallout and other open world games, but never has a game made me feel like I'm actively discovering new land marks at a pace that I decide. The fact that nearly 4 years later I can still recognize the same land marks and areas of the map from miles away is a crazy testament to how well designed it is. Being able to literally walk anywhere besides the outside borders of the map is absolutely insane as far as the power it makes you feel like you have. When my friends and I all started playing it, we were constantly sharing stories about the routes we respectively took. While they may have started off in one direction, I went in a completely different one and that felt like a reward in itself: just being able to carve your own unique path is amazing. Blah blah blah, I could go on for paragraphs more.
You have no need to ever be insecure about your videos. You've been many times more successful in a year than I have been in 5 years. You should be proud that you have the skills (and luck, because let's face it that's required to do well on UA-cam now) to do this well.
You know you've always talked about how important stories are. Until now, we've never really heard _your_ stories. And I'm glad we got the chance to see that. Wonderful video.
Something I find amazing about Breath of The Wild is the surprises it still gives me, I never knew about the enemies throwing tantrums over frozen meat and the game has been out for 3 years.
This was the first game I sunk over 100 hours into that was not an online game and I had so much fun with it. It took me 3 months total just to finish it but I was never truly finished. It was a amazing game and something I’ll remember for a long time
Damn! This video is everything I wanted to be said about the game! That’s a good feeling to have; that someone understands what this game really is and what it can mean to a person. Thanks for this video! And thanks for using the Rito Village soundtrack as the intro, it’s my personal favorite!
Tbh your voice and accent is a huge part why I watch your videos. But the biggest part is that I love people being passionate about stuff and you're also passionate about cool stuff so it's a win win situation, keep it up!
This is totally true dude. More than any other game I remember all the notable moments like my first lynel fight or the first time I saw the dragons. It stuns you and develops these stories for you that are different for each person. It has more of a lasting impact then any story based game I've played as well
Ahhh I absolutely loved the personal bits. It did, in fact make me smile multiple times. Its good to hear more people think that 'your stories' are the most interesting, cause I wholeheartedly agree. I can't wait to see more for you~
I get why a good number of people didn't care much for the story but just for me personally, I really liked a lot of the story and the lore. I agree the narrative itself really wasn't that grand and definitely was a bit cliched, but I think it did an excellent job setting the overall mood of the game. There's this bittersweet feeling that I could feel throughout the entire world, you'd see it in npc dialogue, old ruins and shells of houses and towns, you could hear it in the music as well. But then there's that little bit of hope shining through, with the return of link, the new champions and places like Tarrey Town. I found myself completely engrossed in the world of Hyrule. Walking into a finished Tarrey Town and hearing that music all come together, after all that hard work, genuinely made me feel something special, like what I was doing really mattered. One of the moments I will never forget playing this game. One of my few 10/10 games as well. Great video!
What irony, I've been replaying this game for the past 5 days already and it's still captivated me in a gameplay perspective to just enjoy it. It's some of the most enjoyment I've had in a game in a long time and I'm glad it exists and heres hoping botw2 is a sequel done right, nowhere to go but up with this game world they have made.
cant speak for anyone, but i absolutely prefer personal essays about things you're passionate about. like, there are enough critical videos about anything on youtube - which are fine, but can be a real downer sometimes. i really loved listening to you gush over BoTW bc i like knowing that other people experienced the same feelings i had when i first played BOTW... anyway this video was written really well. and it was really lovely (also your voice sounds fine! and is actually very calming). great work!! subbed!
Bro your voice is just works with what you are doing. Because your voice is serious enough that it doesn't stand out so that you can give your point across. But your humor really stands out and created a great blend with your voice and I think its great. Its beautiful.
I just want to say that I think I enjoy the videos where you just speak passionately about games/things you love. You really just have that captivating quality in your writing I love your videos and genuinely get excited whenever you upload.
The way I got to the Cryonis Shrine is by climbing the mountains(not very high) right next to the stasis shrine. From there as long you don't get too sidetracked, you won't need much cold durability before reaching the shrine.
I love how your vids feel like a conversation; granted I’m not saying anything back (sorry, I get anxious and I also watched this like months after it came out) but its nice hearing someone talk about this stuff and be so like. Chill. I like it
The lack of urgency you mentioned is actually intended by the developers, they've talked about this, (I've forgotten where, maybe making a champion.) but part of that also involved Link's missing memories, he used to be pressured by his position as the big chosen knight, but now he isn't burdened by that or any real emotional attachments, until he regains his memories that is. Link regaining his memories made me feel some sense of urgency and it worked really well to motivate me to defeat Ganon, but that's just my personal experience. Edit : Nice fashion Link.
Great video. Not only do I share a lot of the love for BOTW with you but I also got to know your personal background and how the game connects to it. Nice job and congrats on 25k.
Hi, new subscriber here!! That part at the end where you talk about how much this video was a passion project. That is sooo evident; I was invested the whole way through. There are WAY too few humans on UA-cam, I agree, -- I think that phrase is gonna stick with me, -- and even in your more "objective"-ly framed videos, your grounded perspective that takes production/historical context of a game into account is so, so great. I'm not normally the type to look up reviews of the games I'm into; watching videos where people try to seriously 100% "objectively" rate a game is so frustrating, like..... media isn't contained in a vacuum. The environment preceding the release of a game, or the environment it was made in? That's fascinating as hell, and you clearly know that inside and out because every video of yours so far that I've binged, you've knocked it out of the park. Really looking forward to the 20k special, and more videos of this style in the future!! Your channel's a gem.
I find the ludonarrative mention for witcher is interesting, and by that i mean in my experience it did the same thing BOTW did where there is a main story, but there is no rush to it. Yes Geralt wants to find Ciri, but Ciri is also a fully capable warrior in her own right who has been doing fine. Geralt is just a protective dad (and screw anyone who doesn't let Geralt be a dad!). Geralt also just has the job to slay monsters. It's kinda his purpose and how he funds all of his searching. The example I'd go to is Fallout 4 where you are looking for a literal infant in the post apocalypse, but there's also a quest to go be a costumed superhero.
I really like both the comedy and the analysis. I'm glad you're dedicated to doing what you care about! I'll enjoy the analysis when it comes but I am interested in whatever you put out.
Humor is probably more subjective than taste in video games. I love your sense of humor personally, and I think it adds a great flavor to your in-depth analysis videos.
For some reason I have to mention this But regarding certain shrines or puzzles, that annoyed or might have irked others. The one in particular you kept glaring over at the 3:17 mark is an experience or funny story I had. Which would resonate to you why I like many would incline to agree with this video. In why we all loved about this game is the personal story or experience I should say, that I kept having during my time with this game. I remember my first play through with that shrine annoyed me like many that experienced it. But the unique moment (that I typically had) that I vividly remember was frustrated with the countless attempts. Then curiously but cautiously thought what if I could.......Then I realized I had received an epiphany, I quickly flipped my pro controller upside down. I was then enlightened by the fact I had a flat surface with no maze I just swiftly and easily got the ball on the other side I felt like the smartest person in the room. I Shared this story countless of times. With many similar crazy unique moments, where my ingenuity and the games boundless creativity with its game engine & Physics. I’m right here gushing and smiling thinking to myself man I love this game.
As a longtime Zelda fan, the story was pretty detrimental to my enjoyment of BOTW. I love stories in video games almost as much as the gameplay. I’m one of the nuts who enjoyed Skyward Sword and it’s story, so I expected a better story than the one we got. I did enjoy the game for what it was and for what it was trying to do. Its strengths are some of the best moments I’ve had in gaming. I just expected a Zelda game that felt more like Zelda. It’s nice to see someone who is willing to overlook this game’s shortcomings to enjoy it for what it is, rather for what it isn’t. I really like your content and I hope I see more of you.
You're doing a great job on this platform, man. Nobody else has your voice, and if the UA-cam community didn't value it, you wouldn't have hit 25k subs. I think you're super unique and I thoroughly enjoy all your videos, because I enjoy your creative voice, no matter what you're trying
the point you make at 23:00 The good old legend of zelda games (im thinking minish cap, links awakening, but probably others) also did that. Its a very zelda feature. As a kid i was horribly confused but so proud when i figured stuff out :D (like how to swap items)
I'm glad I found this channel. The good stuff on UA-cam always gets overshadowed by clickbait and cringe compliations. I know this has been said a thousand times already but you truly deserve more subscribers. The quality is amazing for such a small channel and your arguments are rock solid. Even if I don't agree with everything I can see where you're coming from in most of your arguments. You're probably one of the most honest youtubers there is. You don't follow stupid trends or make clickbait and instead focuses on making good videos. Your voice is also very soothing and relaxing to listen to(you'd make a perfect audio book narrator) We need more creators like you Fudj on this platform. Also your comment about how we need more humans on UA-cam is something I can wholeheartedly agree on. Peace, love and stay safe.
I loved this video. Botw is one of my favorite games and while I have a lot of issues with it, which why I'd give it a 9 instead of 10, I agree with you that the positives far outway the negatives. Also about the voice thing, I think your voice is actually really good. It sounds both informative and comedic.
I very much appreciate how passionate you are for what you’ve been doing on the platform. You’ve quickly become one of my favorite UA-camrs and I’ve recently started binge-watching your stuff. Your script-writing and/or off-the-cuff discussions are all super interesting. Either way, I’m gonna stick to watching this channel for as long as you make vids. Absolutely adore the content!
In response to the ending bit of your video about what people expect or enjoy, I wanna say my favorite part of your channel is all the little things you do during long videos to entertain others (and presumably yourself). You're joke about "a little quip that makes you go 'pff'" made me go 'pff' and that's exactly what I like about your content. Appreciate your openness to work on the things you care about, so definitely keep up with that, but also know that your style of comedy makes videos like this more fun to watch even when talking about things I don't care about or even agree with. On the topic of not agreeing, I'd like to say breath of the wild succeeds at creating interesting scenarios and being unique for everyone. I had a lot of fun doing the desert area first cus I had no clue where the best place to start would be, even if it resulted in the other major areas seeming more linear and piss easy by comparison. But the biggest flaw I have with the game is that unique experience is mostly a first time thing. I've replayed the game a few times since my first time through and my knowledge of the world and enemies makes it so all I'm really doing is trying to beat Ganon. The unique discoveries have less appeal when they aren't discoveries. This leaves the flaws of the game to sit on their own without any support; the poor performance in and pacing of the main story stings more without the charm of the NPCs and side content, the constant weapon breaking is a problem without the endless supply of weapons and items you find during genuine exploration, and the lack of variety in weapons and enemies sticks out without the period of time in which you are still learning about those few things. While the first play through was an enjoyable experience, a solid 8.5/10 for me since the flaws already kind of bugged me, on repeat playthroughs I feel my impression of the game getting worse and worse until eventually I fear I'll forget I ever got any enjoyment out of the experiences I had. While I don't think replay-ability is the only metric for review, and some games clearly build themselves on the first experience only, I am curious what you think about replay-ability in a critical sense, as well as how replaying BotW has affected your feelings for it. One last little topic you covered that I am also interested in discussing is how a game like Mario Kart 8 is unlikely to ever receive universal recognition. I wonder if critiques will ever be able to look past games as strictly a means for expressing stories or ideas and more for what intrinsic value they offer to players. Almost anyone with a phone has played some form of game as a form of passing time, but would anyone praise a game for being a good waste of time? Multiplayer games like Mario Kart allow for friends to grow closer and to share in experiences, but could a critique justify praising a game because they had a good night hanging out with their friends? Arcade style games offer the ability to express mastery over something or assume complete control of a character, but the modern idea of a critique for games doesn't include the kinds of people who would invest themselves in a game that deeply. While I think open world games can do a lot, it seems strange to say they do any more than other games, they just do things in ways that are easier to notice, and it really is a shame that titles like "Game of the Year", which define what future games will strive for, are decided mostly through the most obvious of qualities. Anyway, congrats on 10k and almost 25k already! Hope to hear more from you either in the comments or just the rest of your videos, and hope you keep making me breath out of my nose in amusement.
4:00 made me exhale from my nose quickly and escalated into full blown laughter. Love your videos and your sense of humor in them, please keep making them UwU
Not that anyone's feelings, thoughts or opinions should ever be validated by someone else's. BUT MY GOD THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME FEEL VALIDATED. This game is honestly on such a peak for me that I never thought I'd hear someone else talk about the key points that actually make BOTW that godlike and personable. Was an immense watch and brilliantly put together, thank you. Greetings from the North West and I hope that one day we can get a UK inspired dungeon with a Greggs on the side.
ngl, I wasn't originally planning on watching this video because the length turned me off, but holy shit, this was one of my favorite videos period. The time honestly flew by and I was surprised it had already been 40 minutes by the time I hit the end of the video. Keep up the amazing content, but more importantly, keep up doing content you love!
Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your videos. Even though I disagreed with several points in your Pokemon black and white video I still found it informative and entertaining, and this video was also great. You really have talent so please keep up your great content!
I 100% support you just being a guy giving your opinion. I love hearing it, partially because your pacing and delivery are so good and partially because, I don't know, people's opinions are... cool? I feel like we get hung up on trying to craft objective arguments about why a game or movie or whatever else is good or bad, and I think those conversations are interesting, but they aren't as important as our subjective experience, at the end of the day. Your honesty and humility are a breath of fresh air, which is why even as someone who's never met you and just watches your videos, I value your opinion quite a lot. Keep doing what you're doing!
this is one of your best videos this isn't a special this is a special special this is one of your best videos you've made thank you for the entertainment :)
Hey, I don't usually come to this side of youtube let alone comment, but just wanted to say thank you for sharing your genuine, earnest story. (Also imo you hit the nail on the head with the "being shoehorned into the content you blew up from" and i'm glad you're growing while producing the content you want!)
Fudj I really enjoyed this video and most of your videos that I’ve watched! I don’t comment often but I want you to know your very entertaining and I love your content (and your voice too!) I have no problem watching video after video or hearing your voice at all man. We can all feel a little insecure sometimes but just know we’re here to support you and we enjoy you for who you are! Stay well and keep your head up buddy
It really surprised me to hear you say that you don’t like your voice. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to which content creators I watch, and a lot of that boils down to voice. When I first came across your channel, your voice was what pulled me in! It’s so smooth, your accent is great, and you really have a way with words. I think your content is very compelling, largely in part to your voice. So even though I’m speaking for myself here, I suspect that there a lot of people out there that actually LOVE your voice. :)
I can't say enough how glad I am I found this channel. I think your ideas about games are really interesting (the platformer video about originality vs innovation is one of my favorites) and I think videos like that where you discuss your personal interpretation of things in a non-review context are the best ones. I think those kinds of videos are your best because you're never associated with objectivity or being a review, just putting your thoughts out there. I can't say I came here for your comedy, that would simply be untrue, but it's sold me. I loved your Antonio stan video and the Gen 5 Pokemon roast (Sigilyph really is awful isn't he), and I completely support you and look forward more videos like that. Best of luck for the future of the channel, I can't wait to see what you do next!
i resonate with 11:20 so much and to be honest i had this video playing in the background not paying much attention until you started talking about this and i honestly dont know how you got onto the topic (very sorry) but there are so so many things that i want to do in life and i'm just being held back solely by my brain and nothing else
Weapons not having durability would have made BotW worse. Enemy camps always give you more weapons then you lose so its not like you ever really run out of weapons. But with the durability who are constantly having to change your play style and think of creative ways to win the battle.
I really like your voice xx
Stay safe.
Hope you're recording the 25k subscriber special already mate ;)
I totally understand how you feel. I’ve been wanting to get into UA-cam, but I have no equipment or experience. I’m also a tad insecure with myself.
I just remind myself that judgemental people are not the arbiters of what is and isn’t valid. We’re all unique and should express our individuality. Holding ourselves back from engaging with others and leaving our comfort zone will prevent us from reaching our full potential.
The length of this video is torture to perfectionists.
39:59?! Aaagyhfhjfyyhf@#$&!
At least Mista is happy
Fudj, it is really rare that I feel the need to leave a comment on a video, but this one really pushed me to do so. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your video and how much I enjoy your personality. Ever since I found the channel I can't stop watching your videos because it feels so good to listen you talk about anything. Gotta say that I love your voice! Can't quite pin down what about it is so good but I could listen you the whole day, your voice is just that soothing and unique. Keep up doing what you love, because we love you and what you do.
Thank you so much for this my friend
Bri’ish?
@@hongkhor381 oY yah think ya better than ME, mate'?
I actually feel like the weapon durability system solves one of the major issues with loot-based games, which is trash loot
If every weapon breaks, then it's always worth looking at a weapon, even if it's a sidegrade or worse
With games like Skyrim it really sucks to do a really long quest just to be rewarded with a weapon worse than what you're already using
I just wish that you could gather materials and repair them. Hopefully BotW 2 has something like this
It encouraged me to repeatedly go to hyrule castle to scavenge for good weapons. I love hyrule castle in botw.
Now which would I prefer:

This video is very relatable for me. I also recently decided to finally start my own channel, and make videos. Also about Breath of the Wild. I also have a general distaste for my own voice. But I managed to ignore it, and just go for it anyway. Very inspiring video. keep it up!
I didn't expect to see you here - love your videos!
I see lots and lots of people writing similar stuff, but here's my comment:
You are seriously awesome.
Keep it up.
My friend asked which UA-camr I had "been with the longest" and made "the most profit."
What he meant was which UA-camr had I been since they were small and made it big.
Man stuff like this is so reassuring and awesome to read ahaha
Thanks so much! :)
Woah what a nice community
Fudj: I don't like my voice.
Also Fudj: My accent is superior.
I'm willing to bet that Tropical Freeze is part of that "10/10" list
Almost lol
Thanks so much!
Your continued support from the start has honestly been a real factor in me keeping on going man, people voicing their support when you're not big is so rare and so hard to come by
Thank you so much
Watching breath of the wild videos makes me realize how much I still have to explore in the game
I have quickly grown very attatched to your channel, by now it pretty much is already a comfort channel for me.
Very glad to see you doing well.
It's ONE SECOND AWAY from being a 40 minute video WHY
Mista gave him a death threat
I really like your content and wanted to let you know that what you're doing makes a lot of people happy! Keep up the good work Fudj.
Just found this channel and wow, I absolutely love everything that I've seen.
That Sonic Unleashed music during the "chill narrative" segment was perf. Loved this.
I really enjoy the weapon durability system. Its goal was to make you try something new, and for me, it did just that. I wouldnt have known that spears would be my favorite weapon if didn't break all my swords during a lynel run.
Storytelling and one's own story... that's a pretty new light to shed on BotW.
I'm really glad I kept watching your stuff. I really like you.
Your story you told about your experience getting into doing this is incredibly relatable. Congrats on breaking out of it. Your videos are fantastic
Talking on comedy- the old seal sound ("gbeh") you made in your video intros used to make me laugh for up to 20 minutes.
I can't wait to see more for you~
21:33 ... was that an Adam Neely reference?
If it was.... well... uhhhm that's pretty cool.
Chill. I like it
Loved the honesty in this video. I think your approach is better in the long run than chasing clicks
Your channel's a gem.
i love how personal this video ended up being thanks for your work
I find the ludonarrative mention for witcher is interesting, and by that i mean in my experience it did the same thing BOTW did where there is a main story, but there is no rush to it.

I like how this channel is, Brad does youtube in a different way, he creates a great atmosphere but honestly...
I like it
For some reason I have to mention this But regarding certain shrines or puzzles, that annoyed or might have irked others.
Arlo might have made a 3 hour review, but this is good too!
I think putting the updates at the end of videos are very good. I couldn’t leave, and now I’m glad I didn’t. I feel more informed
Really love this type of laid back style would love to see more
the point you make at 23:00
The good old legend of zelda games (im thinking minish cap, links awakening, but probably others) also did that.
25k special better be coming soon, man! I've loved all of your videos, and looking forward to future ones
"how effective I've been at making you smile and laugh I can't say" You've done a very good job on me
This channel has been growing on me exponentially. Great video, as a fan of this game, I thank you, man.
Love your videos!!! You are definitely hilarious and have made me crack up and snicker many times!
Oh Fudj, i really love your videos so much. You're my favourite UA-cam channel. Keep it up
i resonate with 11:20 so much and to be honest i had this video playing in the background not paying much attention until you started talking about this and i honestly dont know how you got onto the topic (very sorry) but there are so so many things that i want to do in life and i'm just being held back solely by my brain and nothing else
Weapons not having durability would have made BotW worse. Enemy camps always give you more weapons then you lose so its not like you ever really run out of weapons. But with the durability who are constantly having to change your play style and think of creative ways to win the battle.
Unrelated to my earlier comment, I genuinely do appreciate your videos. Keep it up!
You’re a class act Fudjy boy, keep the great quality vids coming please 👍🏼 bless ya
I’ve watched a few videos, but this is the one that made me subscribe.
