- Hey Folks, Today on the bar we have a classic Islay dram, the Lagavulin 16-Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky, this bar staple is the dram that got me very interest in Islay scotch and the peaty characteristic. Being one of the big 3 on Islay, they have acquired quite a following of fans who love their special releases and peated offering, but does it still deliver as a classic malt or is it destined to be replaced with more craft expressions? My gateway into peated scotch and it’s still my fave Lagavulin!!! I also adore the Offerman 11 Lagavulin 3rd and 4th editions! The new Offerman is delicious!!!

Wow! $200 including taxes in British Columbia. I just bought a new bottle today!
I have several bottles of the 16 floating around, both gifted...so no complaints from this peanut gallery!
It's not my favourite Lag though, oh no. That would be the Distiller's Edition. Same age, but (in my opinion) far superior. I do have to admit to a pronounced bias though, it was my first major hook into the world of whisky.
Now that being said, at a whopping $200 nowadays, it's WAY too expensive. I simply can't justify paying it. Nursing very slowly what will likely be my final bottle...😢 Gotta draw a line at some stage.
You're right, going for the 8 is a better deal.
Notice the Islay Mist peeking out from your shelf. At below $40, it's a steal of a deal, perfect for those 'by the firepit' evenings. Never without it.

The Islay Mist is a main stay on the shelf. Makes a really tasty Rusty Nail. Going to have to get to work on that video. Lol

I am sipping on a new bottle tonight. I wish it wasn't $200 with taxes here in BC but I do adore my Lagavulin 16 and pretty much all of their expressions!! Lagavulin smoke is amazing!! 🙂Try the new Offerman 4th Edition - rum casking. I am not usually a fan of rum casking but it's delicious! Perfect for summer sipping!! Cheers! 🙂
No longer interested in the Laga 16! Prefer integrity whiskies.
