Must be good because it’s Canadian 🇨🇦
Yep, just like the channels host lol. Cheers.
Looks like Bridgeland did well at the Canadian Whisky Awards, would love to try them at some point. Don't mind the small bottles, as I don't have a ton of space left on The Shelf, and I'm good with variety and quality over quantity these days. Dipping into a few Canadians this week. Fils du Roy 'New Ireland' from NB, Triticale from Junction 56 in Stratford ON, Magnotta 10 Single Malt Vaughn ON, and of course Maloney's BC. The Fils du Roy is an interesting one. Instead of proofing down with water, they use beer made with the same recipe as the whisky. So basically still water, but richer. Tasty! Heading into the deep freeze this coming week...woo hoo! See a few hot toddys in my future 😉 Cheers, my friend 🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Ive never tried any Canadian whiskey. I probably should....
You definitely should. And why not start during #cadwhiskyweek ! Cheers.
@SeawayWhiskyWire I'm on it👍👍
Cant go wrong with Ledaig!!
Absolutely agree. Such a great value dram! Cheers mate. Thanks for the comment.
Not able to get very many Canadian Whiskies here in Western Australia stores Usual suspects of CC, and Bearface readily available Got a Black Velvet and Crown Royal but impossible to find nowadays, Collingwood sold out quickly and didn't obtain one. Can get a Sortilege but waiting to come on offer I prefer a store pick up rather than buying online Enjoy the thrill of the hunt 🥃😁
Thanks for the comment. One of my goals in 2025 is to promote and inform folks on Canadian whisky and grow it in the world market place. I hope that Canadian producers will expand into other regions like Australia. Cheers mate.
@SeawayWhiskyWire I've over 400 bottles in my collection, all types of whiskies Got a few decent West Australian ones Some decent ones to look up: Upshot - Whipper Snapper distillery Limeburners distillery Grove distillery McRoberts distillery for you to check out
Love it! That’s great.
Happy CDN Whisky Week right back! I've been meaning to try Signal Hill. There's a standard release widely available at the moment. Which expression do you have there? Cheers Ty 🇨🇦🥃🥃🇨🇦 "m"e
Happy Canadian Whisky Week M. I was sent a bottle of their standard release. A real tasty dram. Sweet and smooth. 40% with no chill filtration. Made in Newfoundland.
@SeawayWhiskyWire I've had Gunpowder & Roses rum, from the Newfoundland Distillery in Clarke's Beach. Phenomenal juice. Not a sweet rum, but wow! Haven't had their Single Pot Still whisky yet, but I hope to at some point. I don't think they were making whisky yet in 2018 when we were last out there, though they may have been. We got sidetracked by the rum 😉 Might just have to pick up this Signal Hill.
Great to hear! I hope you enjoy it! Cheers.
Buddy, as you know i love me some Octomore. I'm a big fans of the 10 year old editions and the .3 Islay Barley's. But these .2 wine finishes are a ton of fun. Glad you're a fan of it man!
Thanks Matt! Yes this was fun and a great experience for me in my whisky journey. Always happy to try some interesting expressions. Cheers mate.
Where are you located
Hi Paul. Located in the Canadian Seaway.
There are a lot of $300+ whiskies that I've resigned myself to doing without. Sample exchanges are definitely the way to go (although I hate falling in love with something I'm probably never going to buy.)
100% agree with the you on this Chuck. Thanks for the comment sir.
Love this one! Got a 15.3 on the way and keep myself occupied with a Glenturret 10 peated 👌
Both excellent Parcello. Cheers and thanks for the comment.
What a blast...of smokin' goodness! Haven't had an opportunity yet, but it's on The List. This version would be my pick, as my preference tends towards sherry to be underlying smoke. I'll bet you could still taste it the next day, that's a LOT of peat. The one Bruichladdich I really want to try is Black Art. Someday... And that first sip you took? Killer editing! 😂🤣 Enjoy the rest of your weekend Ty 🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦
lol. Thank M. Trying to up my editing game this year. It was a heck of a dram. This was the 2023 release so not too sure how available. Price is pretty steep but worth the adventure. Or a bottle split with friends lol. Cheers.
Lovely whisky but not at that price point. Good review
Indeed. I looked up the price soon after film and i was shook. Great dram, but not ready to give up my Kilchoman for 1/4 the price. Cheers.
I generally do not do peated. It’s like sipping from an ashtray in most cases for me. You make this one seem interesting at the very least. Cheers!!!
If you are not a peat fan I would Stay Clear. This is one of the most heavily scotch I have ever tried. LOADS of smoke and ash and campfire. Filmed this yesterday and can still taste it. Wicked dram if you like the peat. Otherwise, worth trying just to say you experienced it. Cheers Bourbon School Crew!
I like trying new things, that's the fun in whisk(e)y, and this is certainly an interesting combination, though I don't think I would actively seek it out. Hopefully you'll have more chances to continue to share and enjoy. Absolutely can see it as a mixer in some future C-slams. Cheers Ty! 🥃🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Thanks for the comment Marian. This is what I love about whiskey. Always something different to try and explore. This one was interesting and tasty. The folks over at Proof and Wood have shown me some serious love to the channel and sent over some lovely expressions. So grateful to have had the opportunity to try their stuff. Cheers.
@SeawayWhiskyWire Such positive support is really nice to see. And kudos to you for being completely honest with your thoughts on the products, no matter where they take you. It's very much appreciated and certainly helps the rest of us with decision making, especially when it comes to spending our hard earned.
Always.
I haven't seen this here, but an interesting concept. Of course I'm hanging around to the end! I prefer a cross border blend that has Canadian Rye and American Bourbon. General Canadian whisky seems a bit sweet. The higher proof would help here though. Cheers!
Thanks Jon, interesting combo for sure. Proof and Wood put out some great stuff. This one wasn’t their strongest release but worth the adventure. Cheers sir.
I'm sad I didn't get a bottle of this
You and me both brother 😔. I just wasn't fast enough. Cheers.
Gary is the man! Great video, dude! Love that Whiskey
Gary is the man! Glad you enjoyed the video Korn! Enjoy the samples man! Cheers.
@ it’s funny as soon as I saw that sample bottle, I thought to myself, that looks like a sample from Gary
Most definitely. I love how he goes the extra mile!
One of the best parts about whisky is there is no right or wrong! Our palates can all be so different, and as long as we enjoy it that's the most important!! Great video, congrats on the first year of reviews, looking forward to the next.
Thanks so much for the comment and kind words of encouragement, Owen. Much appreciated and glad you are enjoying the content. 100% whisky is a very subjective subject for sure, which is one of the reasons I find it so enjoyable. Cheers mate. Happy 2025!
100% it’s all about enjoyment! Every collection will have a bottle to suit somebody, and you can share the enjoyment with different bottles! 😎
@@truthfulremedy_aka_lennybee one of my favourite parts about whisk(e)y!!!
@ well said! Cheers.
Looks so good, great video, thanks for sharing!
Absolutely. And thank you for the comment and checking out the video. I just finished up drinking this year’s batch and saved some to try next year at 1 year old. Cheers
Got two of this.. looking for 3rd ! Love it. Stuff and whiskey channel even preferred this over Russell Reserve 15 lolz
It doesn't really make sense comparing the two, a peated scotch and a bourbon
@ you’re right but EOD both Sprits !
I wish would have gotten 1! Thanks for the comment. Cheers.
I have been looking for this one week at the LCBO. But its seems there is none in the whole entire province. Im a huge Ardbeg fan and need to add this to my collection. As a chef, I love anything smoked meat and food. So adding that profile to a scotch sounds something right up my alley. Great review brother!
Thanks pal. It was there and gone. I wish I had gotten one. The FOMO wasn’t strong enough. Next time.
Love this one. Very meaty. Nice review
Thanks you sir. Appreciate thr comment and the sub! Cheers.
This is one of my favourite bottles from last year and favourite Ardbegs full stop!
Definitely the best special release i have had from then in a while. I see why this was cleaned out in my area so fast. Cheers.
This is a solid solid dram, glad you like it as well 🥃
Thanks for the comment. Definitely one that I have gone back to a lot these past months. Just sooo good. Cheers
Ima be honest with you guys. I live in Europe and don’t pay that much but still I think it’s to much not a hog I would ride. If someone gave me this I wouldn’t be mad but I wouldn’t buy one myself
Thanks you for the comment sir. I would never turn away whisky especially this one. Cheers.
Great video!!! I love the BizzareBQ, huge, huge fan!
Yes sir. Still kicking myself for missing this one. Cheers.
Just poured myself a Port Charlotte 10 and stumbled across your video. And your intro got me hooked. Out of the pure coincide that I just out some spirit in my glass 😅
Welcome aboard! Thanks for stopping in and checking out the video. Hopefully you also subscribed as well the Port Charlotte 10 is on my hit list this year. Cheers and thanks for leaving a comment!
Gary introduced me to that, too, with a highly appreciated sample. I was one of the lucky ones to grab it at the LCBO in November. It's the first special release from Ardbeg that I've really loved since Dark Cove (8 years ago).
I briefly remember that someone spilled the beans on it on like a Thursday and I remember trying to locate the. On Saturday morning only to see the out of stock on the page. The price was very good even for LCBO standards. Great to hear that Father Gary is spreading joy with the sample train. Great guy! Thanks for the comment sir. Enjoy your Sunday.
Many enthusiasts love Ardbeg with good reason. I bought a few when I tracked some down in Vancouver a couple of years ago. Fabulous. Moderation! Be well.
Thank you very much Christine for the comment. Happy New Year! Lucky that you able to grab a few bottles. Definitely a terrific dram. Cheers.
Sounds amazing. Cheers brother. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Shaman!
Yeah, it was here and gone from shops at pretty much light speed. I'm not generally an Ardbeg enthusiast, but this one had intrigued me. Even though I missed it, very glad to get your take. Bet it went well with that prime rib! My neighbour has a Big Green Egg smoker. Love the smells that drift over from next door at times. He smokes turkey too, and WOW it's delicious! Very different than what we're generally used to. Nice that they're good friends, invites are not uncommon 😉 Enjoy what's left of the weekend...☕☕ "m"e 🇨🇦
Thanks so much M! It was a nice treat pre dinner. Was sad I missed out but luckily I have some friends that don’t mind sharing. The prime rib was excellent on a night capped of with my family watching the ball drop and again…a dram of Glenfarclas 15…I really need to pace myself with this one. Cheers.
@SeawayWhiskyWire That Glenfarclas 15 is just as good as I'd heard, from you and others. I can see it will be hard to reach past it. Definitely more ish!
I am still committed to the incorrect pronunciation! 😂 darn good dram, though!
Darn good dram and sitting atop a darn fine piece of craftsmanship. Thanks again pal. Cheers.
Yea buddy.
She is a beautiful dram pal.
Was going to mention that glass board last week. It's fantastic! Nice gift 😁 "m"e 🇨🇦
I was so surprised to receive it. My buddy Jake’s and his dad made them up for me. They are always encouraging me to enhance the layout of my “set”. I guess the got impatient lol. Cheers M!
Helped a friend with a move to Saint John NB in October 2021. Before we headed back, she gave me a bottle of this as a thank you. It was unavailable in Ontario at that time, so I was thrilled to receive it. I had seen Ralfy's review of it earlier that year, thought it would be right up my alley, but wasn't expecting to be able to get hold of it. Since then, Ledaig does show up here with fair regularity. Only a $10 increase in cost as well, which is amazing considering that's over three years ago now. Bang on with your notes. I was really impressed with this whisky too. Still am. I hope for a chance at some point to try the 18. Great memories of a long haul trip, spectacular autumn show of colours, and thoughts of far away friends on the East coast, will always be connected with this bottle for me. Cheers, my friend 🥃 🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
Great story Marian, I love it hear stories about people’s connections with bottles. It makes it that much more enjoyable to sip and reminisce. I have a sample of the 18 ready for a shootout video. I am very excited to see what’s is all about. Cheers and stay warm.
I think I'm fortunate that I didn't grow up on a farm (or spend a lot of time at country fairs) or spend much time in machine shops or garages: a 30 year old Brora is the only whisky I've ever described as having a barnyard nose (and that was one of my favourite drams of all time!). I agree with you that the nose and palate here are almost unrelated. That said, this Ledaig 10 pushes all my happy buttons. I do love peated whiskies from the Highlands and "Islands" (except for most Talisker)
Thanks so much for sharing Chuck. My dad used to take to farm auctions as a young lady and the peat takes me back to those days. Cheers fella.
Good Choice, Tylor. Did you already try the Sanaig Cask Strength? This is a must for a peat lover. Cheers Mate.
Thanks for the comment and checking out the video. I am hopeful that the Sanaig CS comes to my area or that I break down and get it brought in. Kilchoman is high on my favourite distillery list so I have no doubt that this release is amazing. Cheers.
This was fantastic to watch. I have been so impressed by the number of videos you have shared and how the community has responded. Your mail calls are incredible, your relaxed, humble, knowledgeble demeanor is whay I come back each week! Also, so good to hear the first shout out to Mrs. Seaway. We truely can't do what we do without our partners. Say ... would you be open to a live chat? I would love that. On anything or any whisky. Some Tuesday in the New year, hit me up through email if you are interested. Great year, and cheers to 2025!
This sounds like an awesome and excellent opportunity Jon! Thanks for the offer! I'll reach out to you shortly!cheers to 2025.
Nice list I thought you said SAQ. Are you in Quebec?
Thanks for the comment and checking out the video. No, I am not in Que but am only about 45 mins to the border so I do frequent the SAQ. Cheers and all the best.
Happy New Year, Tyler! I've enjoyed following you here on UA-cam (especially your Scotch reviews (because, as you know, I'm almost exclusively a Scotch guy.)) Thanks for the shout-out here: that's the closest I've come to fame in decades 😜.
It's about time you were made famous Chuck! At least until you are featured in one of my upcoming video. Stay tuned pal lol. Cheers.
My journey started with Johnnie Walker Black Label on the rocks. Once I got that taste I was immediately hooked.. Glenlivet 12. Lagavulin 16 and Ardbeg 10 where some of my earlier bottles I loved and taught me so much about my journey..
All of there are great places to start and terrific to revisit. Cheers mate.
The only good goals are goals that are a little bit scary to say out loud. Before you know it you'll smash through the 1,000 subs mark man. I'm glad to hear that some of my advice was helpful and I'm always happy to encourage you to keep going. I like the plan to keep focusing on Scotch and Canadian Craft. Thanks for the shoutout and keep up the great work man. Can't wait to see what 2025 has instore or you. Cheers and happy new year man 🥃
Thanks again Matt for this past year. Looking forward to seeing what’s in the pipeline for Whisky on the West Coast in 2025! Cheers.
Nicely laid out plan... Now we can call you out if you slack off!!! Ha! But seriously, this SHOULD be fun for you. That ought to be the main goal anyway. Very much looking forward to following along in 2025. Scotch lover too, but I'm definitely on board with continuing to highlight Canadian. Can't get over the quality we're seeing from The Great White North craft producers at the moment. From sea to shining sea, I'm finding that my CDN shelf is beginning to groan a bit with the increasing weight of these beauties. On your way to 1000 subs... over 400 now! Cheers, my friend 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦
Cheers to 2025. And yes having fun and having a great time is imperative. All the best.
@@onewomanswhisky I'm also finding my Canadian whisky side is growing more and more. For instance my Canadian whisky white whale I've found is Signal Hill Founders Select Over proof. One of the most delicious whisky I've ever tasted. High proof at 56.3%. Notes of buttered popcorn, honey and a nice spice. It's a shame I can't find more bottles of it at the LCBO
@@OakandGrain Now THAT does sound good. I just checked the LCBO site and all of the available bottles are up in the Toronto area. Well, poop... I may have to enlist my Toronto dwelling cousin to find her way to one of the stores that have it in stock. Now on 'The List'! Fun fact: Did you know that Dan Ackroyd is one of the owners of SH Distillery? Hope your holiday season was fun, and that you got some downtime as well. Cheers O&G! 🥃😁🥃 Marian 🇨🇦
@@onewomanswhisky Its the best Canadian Whiskey I've tasted so far in my collection and journey so far. Before it was the new Canadian Club 18 year old High Proof. This just does things to my palate. High proof, reminds me of buttered popcorn at the movies with a hint of maple syrup and some spice which I'm staring to love more and more. I am in the Durham Region so I may have to either adventure down there or find some way to get multiple bottles as the say its limited release. I just read that literally the other day while researching the bottle. I like that, if they make the mix like this more in the future they deftinalty have a life long customer. Holidays was fun and much needed time with family and gaining to much weight with amazing food, and too much sweets. Hope yours was amazing and you got to spend it with family with some good food and of course Whisky. Make sure you get a bottle of that before it leaves but if you cant pick up a bottle of the Canadian Club 18, similar profile just more refined if that makes sense. I like my whiskys sometimes more complex .Cheers Marian....
Great list! Happy new year 🎉
Thanks for the comment and dropping by to check out my video. Cheers and Happy New Year mate!
@SeawayWhiskyWire you commented on a post I made on the FB group of Ontario whisky lovers, and noticed you have a YT channel. Very happy to have found a new channel with an Ontario perspective, cheers 🥃
Wonderful! OWLs is a great group! Everyone on there is pretty chill and open to conversations. Thanks for engaging me on FB and checking out the channel!
Availability then price of the Springbank range is a killer down here in Aus. It's a lovely drop but ... I can get a Ledaig 18yr for less $$.... I prefer the Glen Scotia range. Ardnamurchan... Can't wait to grab one. Got an open std abv ... and loving it. Yet to open my 3rd 105 . Can't see myself getting that Ardbeg. (love the others). Sanaig.. yep lovely. If you haven't yet... The Aberlour A'Bunadh and Isle of Raasay. Love the vid mate , looking forward to more, thanks, AL
Thank You Allan for the comment, the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. I agree, the availability of Springbank especially outside of the UK is a tough one which is why I grab them anytime I see them. Generally price isn’t an issue so long as you stick to the primary market. I WISH we could get Ledaig 18 in Canada, unfortunately the 10 and the annual Sinclair release is all I can get here. I must try some Glen Scotia this year, any recommendations on which expression to start with? Appreciate your comment and sharing your thoughts and feedback. Cheers mate. Happy New Year.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me and being there to lend an ear. I can’t wait to see what you have in the next year. It is a chore to release episodes and think of new ideas. And if you need more Texas whiskey I will be happy to help.
Thank you Sir. I will definitely take you up on the offer, but let me return the flavour first. That Lady Bird was excellent as well as the Andalusia. JT rice whisky was awesome too. Cheers.
With you through this crazy journey of UA-cam and 2025. Excited to see you grow as I'm starting my journey doing the same thing. Live streams are something foreign to me as well, you def got the personality for it... Here is to 1000 subs and beyond brother!
Thanks for watching this one. It’s a tad different than my usual fair and was kind of an impromptu video as I decided last minute to share it with “the world” lol. I like this approach. It will keep me honest and push me to strive and reach for my goals. Thanks for your support. Cheers!
This is one of my favoutie bottles of a peated scotch I've tried yet. I started my spirit journey in Rum so when there is a scotch aged in a rum cask I'm always all over it. I love the sweet taste it has next to the peat. Reminds me of eating a piece of smoked fruit next to a campfire with a hint of salt and molases thrown in. Good review brother.. Im definitely waiting for a sale to pick up a few bottles of this...
I definitely hear ya on the profile. I believe I am well past the half way point on this release and should have grabbed a 2nd. I managed to grab mine from out west which saved me some dough even with shipping. Will be watching the LCBO for clearance. Cheers. Happy New Year.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire I think Alberta has some on sale in the $90's right now or around that price. Ill be sure to check the clearance at the LCBO as well, and if I find some ill shoot you a message. Cheers man. Happy new year. Here is to drinking some amazing scotch and whisky, and good health in 2025!
@ I’ll cheers to that. Currently sipping on a dram of Glenfarclas 15 while watching the world juniors
Happy New Year, Ty! Guessing you've got some fun plans in the works. Heading out in a few hours to share time with dear friends. Taking along Arran 10, Benromach 15, and Benromach Cask Strength to share. Three bottles, to be newly cracked tonight. I know, I know... it's about time 😜 Cheers 🥃🥃 "m"e 🇨🇦
Sounds like an excellent evening M! All those choices sound awesome. Nothing big planned for tonight. Chilling at the house with Mrs and Mini Seaway. Smoking a Prime Rib Roast for dinner. Then pour a final dram for 2024…too many choices, but I will likely start with Sons of Vancouver Realms of Rye and then finish off with Ardbeg Corry. Hope you have a great evening and a very Happy New Year. Cheers!
@SeawayWhiskyWire Sounds to be a perfect way to welcome in the New.
Ardbeg BizarreBQ sample pre dinner. Delightful. Cheers.
@@SeawayWhiskyWire From your review, that Ardbeg sounds pretty darned tasty! Enjoy... By the bye, of the 3 dusties opened last night the Benromach Cask Strength was the clear fave. The 15 was delicious too, but a far lighter offering. Arran 10 will need some time to oxidize methinks. Had a bit of a bitter edge, which I suspect will smooth out after a little more time. All were neck pours, so too early to judge.
All solid whiskies! After seeing this list, I'm absolutely sure you're gonna love the Sanaig Cask Strength! Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words and the comment. I really hope the Sanaig CS makes it's way to my market here 9n Canada. Will definitely be checking it out! Cheers mate
