    another adventure to west Scotland on the for a giant skate , all fish where returned with no harm ,
    no gafs where used , fishing marks left spotlessly clean as if we wasn't there, please do the same :)
    we also do not use barbed hooks ,
    200lb mono snood
    150lb rig body
    100lb leader
    80lb briad
    was my choice of set up using up and over rig with a 10o hooks you need heavy rods and big fix spool reels to be in with a good chance .

    Great Lads thats how its done! Perfect I go after allot of Skate dont use a gaff fish care spot on guys. you get odd Halibut as crazy as that sounds skate fishing not been lucky myself but saw pictures of guys that have. Usually in the 30lb-40lb range and returned

    You deserve that luke 👏 yep she probably snagged up,,,however using the right gear and patience meant she went back really well ,,,and wasn't left by an under equipped impatient angler who just snapped off, top man top vid 😁👍

    Great video..I have a TTR and an SS. I am thinking of getting a penn spinfisher..do you fish with fixed spool for most of your fishing?

    • @SALTWATERADVENTURER
      @SALTWATERADVENTURER  Рік тому

      Hey, thanks carnt wait to get back... No I use multipliers, but not brave enough to use briad on them😉 so to get the right lb line had to be on a fixed spool and the spinfisher is a decent reel for heavy work perfectly suited to larger fish skate tope ect, or where a quick retrive is needed such as rocky marks or kelp beds

      @@SALTWATERADVENTURER Yea I usually use myltipliers but I always get a slight over run when the lead hits the water after the cast. A lot more to go wrong hence why I am thinking of switching to fixed spool and got my eyes on the spinfisher for rock fishing for tope conger huss and ray. What I am also thinking about fixed spool is that you can just purchase one reel but as many spare spools as you like and tie different types of line and bs on each spool and if you need to adjust just a quick spool change but with mutlipliers you have to buy a few of them just to do this and no need for clicker just set the drag on thhe fixed spool and you go. Will the spinfisher be ok for conger??

      @SALTWATERADVENTURER  Рік тому

      @@gavinlangford2984 spinfisher will do you proud solid reel.... I'm always tempted to go back to fixed spool and stick with them for all the reasons above, I had a few different multipliers before I found one suitable for me...

    • @gavinlangford2984
      @gavinlangford2984 Рік тому

      @@SALTWATERADVENTURER There are a lot of things to worry and keep in mind while using a multiplier. they have to be set up correctly you hav eto keep thumbing th eline on during retrieve which doesnt always result in a good line lae causing more coiling which can cause a birds nest during the next cast. With modern fixed spools and good line laylays the line tidy. Just cast without worrying about anything. If the Spinfisher can handle a 175lb scate off the rocks I am sure it can hadle a20lb conger. I am thinking the shallower spool for braid and the deeper spool for 30lb main line close in for conger also another spool with say 20lb mono. I also think braid will be ok for long distant ray
