I’ve got the Bose, they’re , quite simply brilliant..
They sound great, but the inline controls on the bose is absolutely horrid
@@highball7347 these would work fine, but as I said, the inline controls on the headphones is terrible, you can only use the right on by itself, you can't turn volume up on both earbuds, you can't pause or skip on both earbuds, I would recommend you buy the new Sony wf1000xm4's they have anc and much better inline controls
So glad I found this video. I kept hearing reviews of how insane the noise cancelling on the Sony's are, and look, while it does have good ANC, it's nowhere near what some reviewers are making it out to be. Hell some people are even saying "I can't even hear car horns as I walk down the street!" If you can't hear that you have a problem, lol. I can see not being able to hear that if you have music going, but with music off, there's no way it can cancel that out. I live near ongoing construction, and while the Sony's do numb the noise quite a bit it's definitely still there/I'm able to hear it with ANC on. Same with the Bose. The Bose definitely have better ANC since I've owned a pair and I'll stand by that statement, however, I DEFINITELY prefer the Sony's because they just sound so much better, plus, the EQ helps immensely. Definitely sticking with my Sony's over the Bose, but thank you for an actual honest review!
Hmm, exactly how much better is the bose anc? I'm really struggling to choose between both of them, and the main thing i want is anc. But if the anc for the two isn't too different , I'd like to get the Sony earbuds because of the sound quality, but if the anc is no good on them, I'll get the bose.
@@justsomememingbigyoshiwith4832 I have tried both. The bose ANC is noticably better. The bose block off more consistent lower and higher pitched noises. When testing both earbuds next to a loud server rack in an office space , the sony's could not completely block out the mid/higher pitched consistent sound. The bose on the other hand blocked virtually everything out (almost as good as my QC 45 headphones)
@@justsomememingbigyoshiwith4832 another factor to consider is fit. The fit on the bose is superb- the quiet comfort tips with ear hooks are both super comfortable and secure.
The sony earbuds, on the other hand, appear to fit worse in a greater proportion of people's ears. In the case of my ears, the seal is not as good with any of the provided ear tips and less secure (especially without ear hooks of the quiet comforts)
But more importantly, the comfort of the sony buds are just not that great. The foam tips do not cause my ears pain unlike other people's complaints, but make the ears feel really 'stuffed' with the plastic part of the earbud pushing against the outer concha of my ear. Furthermore, the provided sony foam tips cause an itchy feel especially on warmer/hot days. Finally, the foam tips make bass verberate less and affect the sound signature in a way that I feel makes the music less pleasant.

I'd pick the BOSE. The better quality of the SONY's isn't very helpful if I can still hear some music and weights smashing in the gym. Also, I use my headphones a lot for making phone calls on the go, while riding a bike or doing housework and I'd like for my call partner to hear me clearly so I don't have to repeat myself all the time.
The EQ of any Sony headphones is game changer. They are also one of maybe 3 sets of earbuds that stay in my strange shaped Vulcan ears.
Eq and fit is garbage compared to jabra.

Hands down the best overall review I have seen comparing what I consider to the the 2 superior model earbuds. Your comparisons were really spot on. In the end noise cancellation is key for me, so I went with the Bose [I also took advantage of their holiday sale (making them $200) but that's beside the point]. If by chance I loose one of buds over the next year or so I will purchase the Sony's just to experience the sound quality difference. That said I think I'll be more impressed with the comfort factor that Bose provides over the Sony. Excellent video and thank you for covering all the important facts.

I own both, my opinion: get the Bose for sound quality, especially the bass which is much better on the Bose thanks to bigger driver sizes, also get them for comfort. On the other hand get the Sony for features, you will be amazed by how many features it has, sound quality is also great. Noise Cancelling: both are fantastic, call quality: I had less people complaing about call quality with the Sony. Battery life: both have similar battery lives in real life. If I had to keep one, I will keep the Bose though.

I lost my Samsung Bud Pros, so I've been messing with earbuds. I just returned WF-1000MX4. Sound quality & ANC were great; just the comfort was not there for me after trying all tips.. I'm currently trying the Bose right now. App does lack in features compared to the Sony, but so far, no ear soreness in 30 minutes compared to WF-1000MX4.

I have Bose, which are, perfect fit for my ears. I will be testing Sony, but previous version caused me a real pain after wearing them for 20 minutes. So far, Bose are really good in many ways.

Just picked up the Bose earbuds for 80 dollars less. ANC on Bose blew my mind. I'm a part time audio engineer and I can tell you I am extremely pleased with the sound quality of the Bose. All things considered, I'm really happy with the Bose. One feature neither Sony or Bose has that I really wish they did is Multi-point connection. I guess I'll just have to press a button to switch between laptop and phone. Thank you for your excellent review!

I currently own the Sony WF-1000XM3 buds. I purchased them before the Bose wireless buds were released. Now I'm looking to buy again, & it comes down to the upgraded Sony XM4 vs the Bose.
My main use for these will be on longer motorcycle trips. You have to have good noise canceling, & most of that comes down to the fit. The new Sony tips sound like they seal much better than either my current 3 series or the Bose. Another issue is when taking the helmet on & off. Bigger buds create 2 problems when putting the helmet on. They can dislodge the buds, or if the padding grazes the touch controls you then have to squeeze your hand into the helmet to readjust. When taking the helmet off the padding can dislodge the buds. Several times I've had to go hunting on the ground for my XM3's after taking my helmet off. The Bose are similar in size to my current Sony's. So this new Smaller XM4 with its better seal in the ear canal, coupled with the great audio quality & improved microphone sounds like the way to go.
I also use my buds when I cut the grass. I sweat a lot in the humid weather around here, which killed my current XM3's. So the increased moisture resistance of the new XM4's will solve that problem as well.

First thing everyone notices when putting on earbuds is comfort. I tried both Sony XM3 XM4 and there not that great. You have to adjust every time and ears get sore from time to time. Bose and AirPods Pro are still the best for me.

For me personally my use case is mainly in gym and while traveling so i think bose would be a better fit because of more secure fit and the better ANC. I would have to pass on those features with sony but yeah bose can still release additional features with updates... so yeah getting the bose!
Used both. The Sony sounded a lot better and had much more realistic transparency mode and slightly better anc but they hurt my ears. Qc earbuds are nice
Great video, as always, Aaron. With my experience, I found the ANC to be pretty much on par with each other. I give it to the Sonys for their sound quality. Its just amazing sound. Also, that case is so so small and compact. Sony really set the bar here I think.

I'll be getting my XM4 today. I lost Bose QC Earbuds last month. With these earbuds getting so expensive, I don't know why they don't have a location tracking capability? Airpods are really nice in that sense because you can see its location in iphone. Unfortunately for an android user, we don't have that option. Considering how small these earbuds are, you are bound to misplace them sometimes. Having a location tracker would really help! Do you know if Sony's app has any such feature? Bose used to have it for their older wireless earbuds but not for the QC earbuds which doesn't make any sense

Have Bose, and completely satisfied. Aside fron Mic Quality and ANC, where bose is much superior than Sony, bose is more comfortable. Doesn't have buds that really goes deep into the ear canal.
I love my bose. It might not always top out the competition, but I have always gotten consistent quality with all bose products. I trust them a lot. Mostly because my Sony experiences have been with lower quality and lower priced headphones. Not their top of the line.

Bose pros (xm4 cons): comfortable and easy fit, more control over the anc, audio control on bud, better battery after 1 week of using both buds.
Xm4 pros (bose cons): functionality, anti wind anc, motion detection and auto transparent while walking, smaller case to carry in pocket.
I would say over all bose is better due to the fact that they are more comfortble generally. ANC is same level i would say. My ear hurts after wearing xm4s, but bose is 100% no hurting and very easy fitting in.
Quality call is very important to me, since I talk a lot through my earbuds, and bose blows the sony out of the water in the mic, so I'll go with Bose, the ANC is better too. They are really comfortable to my ears and the music sounds is amazing. Sony might have better sound quality, but I can't tell a big difference since I'm not an audiophile person. Only downside is the case is too big.
Have you run into the problem with background sounds amplified to callers? Has caused a number of Bose users terrible problems (me included)
@@mundo472 no so far, my friends tell me that I sound way better than my others earbuds. The only problem that I had was with Google map, that when it started speaking to give directions first the right earbuds started followed by the left earbud, and the sound was cutting in and out from right to the left just like 2 seconds, it was kinda annoying. But next day it was not doing that.

I have both and to me there is no comparison: the XM 4s have better ANC. It may be the way they fit in my ears but they are noticeably better. I can use them when I cut the grass with a power mower and it cancels as much as my WH1000XM3s. Much better seal for me, plus the equalizer makes them the obvious choice.
I don’t have either. Yet. However I do have Bose SoundSport Frees
One thing I am concerned about is whether the XM4s will be comfortable. I’m concerned I won’t like the feeling of them further into my ear canal than the Bose
I personally hate headphones that go in too deep into the ear.
It would be so awkward to have to constantly prevent the earphones from falling into liquid while cooking😂

I recently bought the bose. The sound wasnt as good as I had hoped. But im really loving the noise cancellation. I can choose to either clearly hear everything in the room or with a quick tap turn all noises off. I like that it has good voice calling clarity. It also fits my ears very well and would never fall out. I wish I could remove one and keep audio playing. If you do a lot of calling/flying and work in noisy places and want to choose when you want to hear your surroundings, get these, theyre fantastic. But if you're going for the very best sound quality and good base for music, maybe go with something else.
I just purchased the Bose earbuds as well and took advantage of their seasonal sale knocking their price down to $200. These will be used in places such as a gym (where their music isn't always great) and walking through Philly. I had done months of research on noise cancelling earbuds which is why I decided on the Bose. However now that these new Sony's have entered they playing field perhaps I will give them a try years down the road.

@@GAMERCASB I own a gym and never take these things off. I have the smallest earbud wings and tips in and they have never once fallen out during a HIIT class, hour on a rower/ echo bike, or free weights. Being the owner everyone wants to talk to you but when I'm on the floor with these things in people have learned I'm not ignoring them, I simply can't hear them as I'm focused on my routine.
Thank you for the video. In terms of deeper sound. There's a trick Sony use. If you Jam the headphone in further to your ear canal the sound will be deeper and richer. So if you press the Bose in hard they sound even better than the Sony.

I'd pick the Sony's for this one. That odd voice on the mic can be addressed, like what they did for the WF-XM3s. The initial mic was horrible, while the latest ones were good enough to match my Huawei Freebuds Pro.

Oh very nice. I'm glad to see that the voice on the Sony can be altered. I just purchased the Bose but for good measure I'll get the Sony's in 2 years or sooner if I'm not sloppy and loose one of these guys when I'm biking.
I have just gotten the Bose Earbuds . while noise canceling is fantastic as expected, the sound quality is rather disappointing; But the main reason why i bought the Bose Earbuds is how comfortable it is. It is the only one that I can wear for a long time without hurting my ears.

Awesome review buddy thank you. I bought 2 pairs of Bose QC. I love those ear buds. It took me awhile to like them though. I'm also a huge Sony fan and for that my 3rd pair of ear buds will be the sony's 1000XM4. I don't really think you could go wrong with either. Bose & sony has the best audio out period. I can't really picture buying any other brands.

Both of them are great but unfortunately bose case is too big and the buds themselves look more like the old bluetooth ear pieces than modern earbuds. I want an earbud that is comfortable and also sounds good while being small which thankfully sony have those features in the xm4
I own many Sonys and liked ANC and sound quality when play, but I think all these generations of Sony buds are still less ideal for phone calls. I will wait.

If you are sad about having to sacrifice volume controls for some other controls or the opposite, use google assistant. Using google assistant you can simply say: "Hey google, volume (0-100)%"
This way, volume changing is very easy.
I pick both and the Airpods Pro - all three are excellent in my opinion.
If you had to choose one, which would you pick? All 3 are solid for sure.

Just bought the Sony ones!! In this video the noise cancelling doesn’t sound too different to me and it was the battery life and portable size that won me over. Bought instead of the Apple Earbuds pro bc while I have an iPhone I’ll probably change phone in the next year or so and the battery life!!

Awesome video, thanks so much for putting this together as I'm struggling right now as to whether or not to keep the Sony's. I have both and have a bit of different outcome. When testing the calls in a noisy environment, callers said the Sony's are much clearer and in a quiet environment the Bose sounded as if I were in a drum. Noise cancelation is very close; however, I give the edge to Sony but not by much. The Bose are more comfortable for sure but it took me a while to get used to them so I'm gonna give the Sony's a couple of weeks for comfort. I definitely like the size of the Sony's the best, easy to slip in the pocket.

Sony's update came but woefully Bose still reigns in ANC and call quality.
Had the bose for 4-5 months. HEAVY usage & wear both earpods for 6-8 hours a day Mon-Fri. Sound quality GREAT, music GREAT, podcast/talking things GREAT, noise cancelation GREAT and Im usually working with heavy machines while the sound comes out great. Now the bad.....comfort is ok for about an hr than your adjusting. Not being able to have only one bud in at a time is kinda annoying and they are ugly as hell. People always think I have a Bluetooth from 2008 in my ears but I just bought the Sony can't wait to compare

@@yaeyoeboma I've had the Sony for a week now and must say the comfort is way better, sound quality with heavy machinery in background sounds just as good if not better than the bose but the earphone buds got stuck in my ear when I pulled it out to fast. Still need more time with them but will probably be using them more than the bose for the comfort and how small the case is

@@xperiaz8557 Honestly, I love how the Xm3 "stick" in my ear, never had any problem with them (it's all about "screwing" them into the ear as you probably saw on reviews), and for me, the xm4 are a step down in this regard, because they don't go as far into the ear canal. The only things I love better on the xm4 over the 3 are the tiny charging box and the overall look of the device. As for the rest, I'd choose the xm3 every day of the week.

Im still choosing it but highly likely I would choose Bose. Largely contributed to my taste of music and I love the bass so much while listening to soundtrack and staff. Also I heard Sony earbuds are a bit bigger and will hurt if you have small ears so Bose wins comfortability. Sightly need to compromise as Sony might or should be better in sound quality when it comes to pop music and Japanese songs.

I listened to the ANC portion on my XM3s, and the XM4s seemed to cancel the same amount of noise but with no additional sounds. The Bose had a strong sub-bass rumble that was annoying. Also the average tone was higher on the Bose and more unpleasant that the XM4s imo.
I heard that humming / rumbling sound too! It seems to go in an oscillation /periodic manner!

I am a bose fan but I hate to say this but Bose qc earbud is not as good as the bose soundsport free wireless earbud.. The older model have richer and more natural sound than the QC earbud. Also the eartip is much stiffer than the older model, and it is uncomfortable compared to the bose soundsport free wireless earbud. I am very disappointed with this product..

I rely heavily on making phone calls so as much as I was looking forward to invest into the new Sony XM4, and as much as I dislike the Bose size and footprints, IMO Bose is still the winner in ANC and call quality.

I owned the headphone sony wh1000xm4 did compare with my brother's bose qc earbuds and I gotta say the noise canceling on bose is noticeably better than Sony but the sound quality on sony is better but not really much tbh.Use wavelet on bose and it can throw stock sony out of the ring ...overall I prefer bose for comfort and convenient but bit pricey ngl
Bose is a giant. Im a music lover and and recently tried both side by side and if you love listening to detailed music Bose is the way to go Sony isnt no where near the sound quality Bose provides. Theres a reason Bose QC is still expensive than the sony's XM4's even though they were released a year ahead of the sony's.

Went with Bose because I hear the Sony wf1000xm4 fit similar to the AirPods Pro which is the exact reason why I'm considering the Sony's and Bose. AirPods Pro kept slipping out in the gym whether because of sweat or some oils, not sure.
Still, super annoying and forced me to upgrade. Bit annoying that I can't use the left by itself which would allow more battery life but it's not a dealbreaker, for me anyway.

Is it just me or did the bose sound like a repeated hiss and bass?(anc test).
The xm4s are looking great and the improvement on sq is really welcome.
Just the call quality isn't good at the moment.
I'm very confident they'll improve allot with the first couple of updates.
For now i won't get them maybe I'll wait on a couple of updates or maybe they'll come as a bundle with the 1/5 iii
it seems the xm4 microphone quality doesn't improve a lot compared with xm3. Kind of worry about their bone conduction sensor
That can be fixed with firmware updates soon.
@@Fabonikazell Not sure if they'll fix this. I got the WH1000MX4 and microphone quality was one of the key improvements (they added additional mics too) but call quality still sucks compared to the Bose and firmware updates improved nearly nothing.

it's not 24hr total charge on the XM4 case, it's 36. the usage may vary depending on what kind of extra functionality you have enabled, like ANC.

It's 24 hours total with ANC on which is how they are most likely to be used. Unless I really needed to stretch the battery life I'd never turn ANC off.
Don't forget that with the S21 ultra, Samsung gives you the option to synchronize Bluetooth audio lag right from the phone volume settings. So even if the Bose earbuds lag, it's a quick fix.
How do you get to it? I can't find the sync option
@@aaronloudnwireless download GoodLock in the Galaxy store, you'll find a TON of different things to change on your phone directly from Samsung. After you download it go into the 'Family' section and then tap 'Sound Assistant' you'll find it in the bottom of the screen as 'Bluetooth Metronome' you can attach it to your volume panel so whenever you're using another device with Bluetooth lag, you can fix it from the panel a lot quicker.

Aaron when do you think they will do a firmware update addressing the microphone issue ? Honestly, 300 dollars for a Bluetooth with terrible microphones is…meh. Starting to regret my purchase.

Hmm, you declare Bose as better in regards of ANC, but at your sound sample they are generating this constant "whistling" sound when the ANC is engaged.
Sounds to me that call/anc Bose is the way to go. However, comfort and longterm wear... Sony (all day and twice on Sunday). Firmware updates are coming to Sony..how many has Bose had already? Btw, i'm watching this wearing the Bose NC 700

I had the Qc earphones and still having them, they are amazing and so conformable. However, when I got the bose earbuds QC I thought it's gonna be the same but it was tougher rubber and harder and the shape inside the rubber is bigger, because I tried to change the rubber to the one that comes with the earphones but didn't work. If Bose company could make it the same as the earphones QC but with better microphone it would be amazing. Otherwise i don't recommend it although I am a customer and fan of bose.
But there is no doubt the sound and audio are amazing

Lolz, no offence but your review was aimed at selling Sony's rather than drawing comparison between both the devices. The bose offer better noise cancelling and music quality then sony. There are so many reviews, where Bose lacked at their app software and doesn't offer an equaliser option. Which is correct. However your review focuses on just selling Sony. Well mate, well done your comments reflect the same
You basically repeated what I said about the Bose, except for music quality, which the Sonys win. Compare these for yourself in a store and come to your own conclusion.
There's a low frequency rumbling sound on the Bose in its noise cancellation mode if you listen with your earphone. I wouldn't call it better noise cancellation.

Sony have pretty good passive noise isolation with the earbud tips. Also they sit pretty tight in my ears which is not comfortable after 20-30 min. The anc in my opinion on Sony is much weaker.
However, Sony has good connection for my zoom calls over windows laptop while Bose perform poorly on zoom calls.
I agree...the NC700's are not great on zoom calls over PC

Great video! For me, the most important features are a snug fit that won't fall out, and an ambient noise mode that is lots enough for quiet conversations, which I find that most headphones seen to struggle with. Can you tell me how they compare in these categories?
