As an expat who lives in Bali the best advice I could give is if you have an Indonesian consulate in your country and it's not too much of a hassle then go get your 30 day holiday visa there before you come. The visa on arrival process here is very simple and quick once you get to the visa counters but depending on how many flights happen to arrive at the same time yours does you could end up standing in the queue for several hours, it can seem very hot and humid in the airport if your not used to the south east Asian tropical climate and as of now you also have to wear a mask in the airport, this straight after getting off a long flight can be a bit unpleasant, if you already have your visa you pretty much just go straight through to baggage collection, it also lightens the load on the immigration staff if visitors already have their visas when they arrive. And just to add, its not usually that bad most often it will take around an hour to get your visa, comparable with most busy international arrivals worldwide.
@@Kokopuffs_s The first thing you have to do once you get off the aircraft at any international arrivals is go through immigration/passport control to officially enter the country, then once you have done that you collect your baggage then go through customs which is where they monitor and control what is being brought into the country by you, customs is usually just a declaration of what you have and don't have in your baggage and on you and occasionally it involves a baggage search. The customs declaration for Indonesia is now done online via the Indonesian customs website, you enter your personal details then check a list of prohibited items to declare you're not carrying any of them then submit, the website then gives you a QR code that you present on your phone to be scanned by customs here, it's meant to make things quicker and easier but I always see a huge number of tourists struggling with it at the last minute here, obviously they don't have a local sim card in their phone when they arrive so they have to use the very slow free airport wifi and on top the name of the customs website is in Indonesian language, the airlines are supposed to tell you how to do it when you checkin to your flight to Bali so that you can do it in departures while you wait to board the flight but I think many airlines are not doing this.

@@Kokopuffs_s Yes everyone needs to pay the IDR500k (US$35) for visa on arrival now, and yes you need a return ticket regardless of what your plans are here, if you arrive on a one way ticket and they ask to see your ticket to leave you probably won't be allowed into the country, definitely if you plan to extend for a second 30 days you need to show your leaving ticket as part of the visa extension application, if you want to extend for a second 30 days just go see a local visa agent its worth the money, I use Easyvisa they have various offices around Bali, the 30day extension costs another IDR500k and a visa agent will charge around IDR400k on top, but that saves you 2 visits to the immigration office here with long waits in queues and lots of paperwork, the agent does it all for you. * edit, I doubt very much an airline would check you in to a flight here if you only have a 1 way ticket, it's actually prohibited for them to do that and if you are declined entry when you arrive it's the airlines problem and they are then responsible for returning you to where you came from again at their cost.

And the fast track you told us here is only for Immigration, they dont have fast track for customs bcs last time I was there, everyone went on the same lane, no special lane unless you're G20 delegates or person in need.

@@manickams9166 I used their taxi services and its good, would recommend, about activities, they seems to be expensive, look at other options of booking directly with the activity centre like watersports, adventure sports and day tour. I had an wonderful cab driver for my entire stay who suggested me some good places and the cost was also less than klook.
Spent the longest 7! Hours of my life getting through arrivals, was probably a bad day, but no staff available to help, no proper queuing, just a mass scrum with 4 people dealing with about 3000 hot sweaty and thirsty people. Still had a wonderful time

They ask when you are planning to leave the country. They might ask for proof to see the ticket, as well. But when you are checking in at your origin the airline might also ask for proof.

Your vaccination doesn’t expire. They won’t scan the QR code for vaccination certificate, only customs declaration if you choose to do electronic. Paper ones are still available.

No cards are given out on the plane. You either do it online and receive a QR code or you fill out a paper form right before customs. You also just simply show you have the app downloaded on your phone
I thought AirAsia hand luggage is 7kg max. The backpack on the guy leaving the plane is surely over this weight restriction. How come? I ask because I travel with AirAsia, but I try to stick to their rules.

It's okay, if the status still waiting for approval until your departure, you just need to prepare and show your vaccine sertificate in immigration,either digital or printed. Have a nice holiday.

Indonesia requires you to be fully vaccinated. There may be exemptions if you have a COVID-19 recovery certificate.

They did not scan my QR code. I don’t think the country has set a time limit on vaccine expirations.

@@ats-3693 no, it's because I was one of the first to get the vaccine but the QR codes only last like 6 months and then get refreshed so I have to order a new one from post which takes time. Was just thinking of using the old paper certificates

Yeah I'm a non indonesian who lives in Bali, when I came in last I just showed them my digital certificate that is in my Google pay app on my phone, the person just took a quick look at said ok, as far as I know they don't even have QR code scanners at the visa on arrival counters.

IF YOUR NOT VACCINATED THEY WONT LET YOU IN , EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ON THE EMBASSY WEBSITE THAT ALL YOU WOULD HAVE TO DO IS QUARATINE FOR 5 DAYS , THEY WILL SEND YOU BACK , IF YOUR NOT VACCINATED GET A DOCTORS NOTE , I MADE MINE IN THE AIRPORT 😊
