New to the channel, great video thank you for your time. I almost pulled the trigger on a ktm GT until i looked online for the normal "issues" check. Ended up trying a XR, GS and multi strada. Liked them all for different reasons but ended up getting a great deal on a tripple black XR te with a top box and tbh havnt regretted it at all, bike is spot on for me at the mo but in a couple years a GS will probably be next. Seat height wise, when i stop i hold down the suspension button for a sec which puts the bike into min mode. This lowers the suspension dropping the bike down so you can get your leg over it easier, so many well thought out features.

Hi pal. I test rose this and the r1250rs on the same day. The r1250rs I absolutely loved that boxer twin was loads of fun and also the shaft drive helped! The s1000xr I did like but just wasn't for me plus standard bmw bikes start at 15k but by the time you get the spec you want your near 19k.

Thanks for the explanatory video about the bike. By the owner’s perspective I can confirm everything that is said here is in deed accurate. The slight vibrations that we feel riding the bike aren’t annoying and make part of the sport nature of the engine. I like them.
I got the bike with the side panniers and they fit in the bike perfectly, I don’t feel their presence when riding the bike in every place including city riding, the bike behavior is impeccable!
Finally I found a big bike that’s a keeper, after having prior a bmw GS 1200 R and the 2021 GS 1250 R, and the KTM SDGT,the BMW S1000 XR made me fully satisfied and it’s a bike that ticks all the boxes for me. ✌️✌️

Nice review. I ride a 22 M Sport version, low suspension with all the options and packs, custom ordered. One of the best bikes I have owned, period. I agree with all your findings. The M Sport has an extra screen with lap timer and all (activated by high beam flash switch), also comes with lighter forged wheels, lighter battery and some other goodies. GS is another great bike from BMW you can consider (I am sure you are well aware), but for me I liked this one better (though I am not a very fast rider). This one gives me that smile and I like this i4 engine much better than those boxers.

I took out the GSA1250 TE afterward the XR and both were great bikes, the GSA handled a lot better than i thought it would with the extra tank size, the wide handlebars and the low slung engine really helps with that. 12 months ago i would have probably gone for the XR as its what i wanted out of a bike, but times have changed and I’m going for the GSA ready for some touring this year. Either way as long as it isn’t orange and works ill be a happy man :). Ride Safe on your XR.

How is the reliability on the bikes with the S1000 engine on BMW ? I have not heard much bad about them. I am more interested in the S1000R and RR since I do not like to sit that upright as on the XR. Since I am 2 meters tall I get all the wind in the wrong places even with a taller screen. Coming from a 690 smc, Aprilia Tuono v4 and now the GT 1290, i personally didn’t feel any vibes in the seat and the engine being in i4 is a lot smoother than the previously mentioned bikes. I have had it in the past where different trousers means i have a different range of flexibility which was putting my legs/bum in different positions to each other, i found this on the tracer 9 GT, vibes when wearing textiles, no vibes in riding jeans.
Something to think about, also the seat is very bucket like, you don’t have any space to move around, it forces you to sit in the one position, there may be aftermarket seat that could fix the shape of this seat. Hope this helps. Ride safe.

Thanks for the recommendation. When I was looking at buying the GT I looked at the Multistrada. I did only manage to get out on a 19 plate Pikes Peak edition and I was pretty disappointed with the engine. I’m looking forward to hopefully getting out on this years but for my next bike I’ll be going second hand, so price wise I’d be looking at a 19 plate for it which obviously brings me back to my test ride experience last year. Which year is yours?

V4S = worse fuel economy, sound and looks against the outgoing 1260, I owned a Pikes Peak for two years, V4S also needs a pikes peak edition to get a more road focused 17" front wheel, meaning you're looking at £25k new unless you get lucky with used one year old bike.
