At the start of this series you were fighting the wind. Now you have tamed it and ride it like a Baus. Such a change in attitude and approach is the way of the playa.
Totally confident in your theory of playing the clubs that one has the most confidence in making a good strike. Excited about the next round of golf, what course and the results. I think what your doing is genius and I hope after this scratch golf series, you’ll do it again. Perhaps we’ll be boyfriends on the course some day. Shot my first round of par golf since I was 14 years old! Thanks for your help and continued advice, to go below scratch is my next goal at 65 years.
Thanks for this video Matt. I played there with my father-in-law in 1996 who we lost in 2017. Great memories with the exception of the green side bunker on 17!
Giday to you, just wanted to say a big thanks for all your help with my game. With the instruction from yourself I have gone from a 20 handicap to a 14 handicap in six months just by playing the smart game as tort by you. Can’t thank you enough. Mark Stradbroke Island, QLD,Australia.
I’ve been following Matt for a month now, and am taking in a lot of his approach and tips. Today, I tried to play boring golf, and it worked great. I only tried one hero shot, and ended up hitting it from the left rough to the right rough. I used a lesser club on the tee three times, and it worked great. Thanks to a late double, I shot 11 over, which is about the best I can do. Hope to play more boring golf!
I’ve been recovering from a back injury, retooling my swing. I’ve doily committed to sidekick club golf philosophy. Very free-ing, I’m really enjoying the game more than I have in a long time. Still figuring out how to play long par 4s. Thanks, love your approach to the game. Playa playa!
I just wanted to tell you Matt that I love your videos and your attitude to golf. You are a very likable person don't change. PS I also really loved your earlier videos where you played the lady pro golfer.
Thanks matty after watching your channel and applying your theories and mental application I finally broke 90 today, I’ve found the rule of 12 has helped me the most as would always reach straight for my sandwedge around the green but that 7 iron is a beast on the longer ones ❤
I'm so glad you topped that ball and showed us mere mortals that us even 2 handicaps are capable of topping the ball. As always, great advice boet, now I just need to try and tame the beast that is golf ego.
Never really comment on videos but man… thank you! I was struggling so much with my game and went from averaging scores between 90-95 to 100-105+. I wasnt having a good time on the course and beginning to dislike the game. Then I implemented the ways of the playa… and boom! 89!! Could’ve been a 85-86 too but i dont care. I had the best round in a very long time and it was all thanks to playing simple stress free golf.
Loving this series of Scotland golf. New to the UK and links golf, we are watching closely. (husband LOVES his new Waddaplaya shirts I gave him for his birthday a few days ago)
Dude! DUDE!!!! 9 seconds into the video, why is the Old Course suddenly in South Wales on the map, kind of in the Brecon area? It really freaked me out for a minute! 🥴 From Brecon to St Andrews is a fraction over 400 miles!!! Absolute class content as always other than that comic slip-up. Cheers ma bru!
All i can say is this. Not ling ago you were struggling with golf.you are playing absolutely beautiful now again! I never comment, but been 2 in a row comment guy! Has to be said!and you are the man putting!!nice golf bud!
Playa. I didn’t realize it till i edited these videos. I went to Scotland in search of the love of the game. It took me to a higher dimension. I’m grateful for Scotland
Yep…one of these days I’ll check off the bucket list play golf at home of the greatest game known to man…🏌🏿♂️⛳️. I’m certainly jealous of Matty during his recent travels. Great stuff.🏌🏿♂️⛳️😎🇺🇸👍🐊
Dam, I know i can't or should😢 revise my 3.2 guess.. but if the wind zip and pants are part of the swag bag.. New guess .5... new gear looks amazing Baus
You wouldn't remember which hole had the rock wall separating the Old Course from the New would you? Played it back in 1993 and the Old Course was closed for the Dunn Hill Cup. So, i hit one over the wall, so I could hit my second from the Old Course. Had to, so I could say I hit one off the Old Course. Great videos and learning a lot.
Great round. Great putting!. I thought you were unlucky past couple of rounds, it all evens out. When you posted the Levin video you had a 4.0 differential got the round it’s now a 3.2. I thought I missed a video because I didn’t remember a round with a 3.2 differential. My 2.2 still looks good. Let’s say you use 3 of last 5 toward your score you need to average 2.6 on those three.
03:06 how would you have played this shot differently if you could? Chip and Runion? P.s. amazed at your putting. What a Baus! the greatest putting mind, all-time in the deep annals of golf. Srsly great stuff !
For future reference you can hit driver at 8 (double fairway), 10 (favour the right side), 12 (favour the right) and 16 (double fairway). Your putting is pure banditry Matty boom boom.
I take about 3-5 seconds Commit to first instinct as I stand behind the ball Then I putt Looking from all sides of the hole doesn't do anything for amateurs Your first instinct with commitment is better than over reading into oblivion
Whats in the bag Matty Boom Boom? I can't hit a 1 iron because i don't have one. I don't even have a 3 iron. I think i see 2 head covers there. Is that Driver and your beloved 7w?
@golfsidekick first couple of seconds in the video, that’s a photo of wales, my home country, not Scotland😂 got excited thinking you were playing in wales
The advice is generally good, but when you can hit a 7 Iron 210 yards uphill you can afford to keep your driver in the bag. We're not all so lucky lol.
The New Course doesn't get the respect it deserves. They say you can miss to the left all day on the Old Course and to the right all day on the New, but that isn't quite true. The New Course isn't a simple out-and-back. It changes directions and makes for a really fun experience. It probably helps that I also shot a 76 there, with a 3-3-3 finish.
What if the PIC just trolled us for weeks and just keeps releasing this video with different commentary and never drops the old course video ferda boyfriends
I don’t see hate. I see one of the best questions to begin asking. From there, you will find the answer to golf. The answer is…you don’t need a driver. If you can grasp that, then you are a scorer not a spray and pray artist
@@GolfSidekick I get that very much but at the same time I’m thinking if I’m spending as much time as I am personally trying to practice and play golf why not learn to hit every club well in any situation
@tangie517 but no one is saying you shouldn’t practice the driver. That is a thought people create. Why didnt i hit driver? It was brand new and the temperature was not hot enough for me to feel confident hitting it on brand new links golf courses. Does it mean i would never hit a driver? No. I hit the driver on this very course the next round multiple times because i now know the course. There are levels to this.

It's a good day when you log in and see another Golf Sidekick upload 👍
Thanks for this video Matt. I played there with my father-in-law in 1996 who we lost in 2017. Great memories with the exception of the green side bunker on 17!
I'd love to see a collaboration with you and Rick Shiels! Two of my favorites!! Thanks for all you do, brother.

Can’t wait to watch you go round the Old Course.
Dream course for a lot of us so we’ll be living it through you playa.
Being from Wales, seeing St. Andrews Old Course of Scotland on the map of Wales confused me a bit :D
Haha its ment to be funny

Nice round Matt. The attitude after the topped 1 iron is something I really try to emulate.
Hi, was this not uploaded yesterday? Anyway, looking forward to seeing you on the Old Course :)
1,5 as a new guess
I've just done groundhog day 😂😂

I played the New course in March. That par 3 along the coast. You hit a 7 iron. I hit a driver! 😂
Glad to hear you got in at St Andrews. After your back in Thailand video I was worried
The advice to hit a comfortable club with confidence has done wonders for me. Thank you and keep up the great content, playah.
Your putting is insane
I'm so glad you topped that ball and showed us mere mortals that us even 2 handicaps are capable of topping the ball. As always, great advice boet, now I just need to try and tame the beast that is golf ego.

I’m playing the new course tomorrow! Crazy that you posted it today 😂
Can’t wait for the Old Course video! Best of luck Matty BoomBoom
With your strategy....and a calm day's weather..... you can nail the old course.
that is what i was hoping would happen and looks like the form is getting good at the corretc time

made me want to golf again after 10 years
making me think about how to approach the game

That was a decent round mate, and you picked a beautiful summer's day on the east coast of Scotland 😀
I love playing that punch shot, possibly the most satisfying shot in golf

Leven had to take double on that bunker hole.
@@GolfSidekick good thing you didn’t take a double in the video that would have upset a lot of viewers. I like your puttable in regulation.

give it a little toe down 8 iron
The putt in hole 2 🎉 You are a beast.
Wasn’t this video posted yesterday?
When you get the chance to watch a golf genius at work you better take notes!
This one was funny as hell! Thank you. Now that's how I golf😅
enjoy the old course hope we can see the video
Deja vu This has been on already ?
This has only been out 5 hours on yt but feel like I've already seen it before!?! 😊

A nice group of boyfriends you were playing with here Matty.
As Clint Westwood said, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

Best putter on UA-cam!
Are you going to play north berwick whilst you are in scotland
Hey, how long do you take to read your puts? Do you go and look at the shot from both the hole side and from behind the ball?
I take about 3-5 seconds
Commit to first instinct as I stand behind the ball
Then I putt

@@GolfSidekick It would be cool to see your take on some of the mountain courses here in Virginia.
I guess the Red highlighted picture of Wales is to wind up the Jocks before you play the old Course? You devil 🤣🤣🤣
Deja vu bro!
The pants in this video have the Waddaplaya above the right pocket😎😎 ...are they available? I only see label above back right pocket.
I am still hoping for a final handicap of 2.7 for some fire gear🙏🏼 but want to see you bring out the inner bausssss when you play the old course!

I can't hit a 1 iron because i don't have one. I don't even have a 3 iron. I think i see 2 head covers there. Is that Driver and your beloved 7w?
Only a double bogey through hole 15, amazing strategy!!
Great round, handicap guess of 1.1
Double post? De ja vu..
I guess I'll add another guess... 2.1. Still incredible.
PUTT FOR DOUGH!! waddaplaya
At 15.31. I had no idea that the Old Course had relocated to Wales

Right, I was like damn, lol I would go with 3viron, 190 maybe lol
This is either a reupload or I had some type prophetic dream about you hitting out of that small bush
Matt is this not the same video as two days ago???
Which putter you are using? You are a great putter!

Going to change to 1.2 handicap 😂
bro you smack that 1iron like its your meat !! Impressive playa very impressive!
Final handi 1.2!
Just ordered my Takomo irons and left feedback telling them "Matty Boom Boom has taught me the way of the playyyyyyaaa"
Waddasix!
What if the PIC just trolled us for weeks and just keeps releasing this video with different commentary and never drops the old course video ferda boyfriends
The easiest way to get to boring (full) shots is to take an extra club and lower, punchier shot, with what feels like 2/3 of a backswing.
Can anyone explain why there’s a map showing St Andrews in Wales and not in Scotland?! That’s like putting Augusta in Canada!
Am i going mad or have i seen this before?
Thats what i was thinking. Updated voiceover perhaps?
Your map of Scotland is not Scotland, its Wales. It is a completely different country 😢
Oooo im gina say 0.8
Why not get the driver in play
A very good question.
I’m not hating😂 today I made 2 birdies and a few pars on a par 3 course with your tips, but I dream of hitting a good tee shot with a driver
