I have a question about optical viewfinders. I have a Canon 70D. It works great for indoor video because of the touch screen focus. However outdoors I can't see the LCD screen. I was considering a optical viewfinder. I can see how this could allow me to now see the LCD screen. But, since I can't touch the LCD screen, how to I focus on a specific object especially if the want to maintain a shallow dept of field on some object in the distance.
If you plan to use an optical viewfinder/loupe on the LCD screen on the rear of the Canon EOS 70D for more magnification and easier viewing when shooting outdoors, you may use the Multi-Controller directional pad surrounding the button on the rear of the camera to select your focus point, then press the shutter button down halfway to focus on your selected subject. You may view the instructions on pages 233-244 of the Canon EOS 70D DSLR camera's instruction manual for information on using the Multi-controller for selecting your focus point when using the Live View on the rear LCD screen, depending on the AF Focus Mode you have selected in the camera's menu system. For shallow depth-of-field, ensure you are using an appropriate lens and a wide aperture setting for your shooting needs. bit.ly/2CmFtkO

Always appreciate your great videos - thank you
Nice tips! You forgot a CP filter for the sky and a stabilizer too for more motion to the shots!
Was expecting a monopod choice in there somewhere.
Yes I like my Manfrotto 561b so much! it's much better than a cheap rig
