Hearing Kashmir played on acoustic this way, with no backing, makes you really understand how wonderful a guitarist he is and how wonderful his riffs actually are
Whenever I watch a Zeppelin concert video, it's hard to take your eyes of Page. His movements, his whole demeanor was like the guitar was just a part of him. I'm sure some of you have a better analogy but he was so mesmerizing it was almost like he could put you in a trance and it's where you wanted to be. If the wizard Merlin could play guitar, Jimmy would kick his arse. He is the master musician.
PreserveBigCats I'm not even really a zepelin fan, just currently getting guitar inspiration but yes as I have always felt that way. something about him
PreserveBigCats, perhaps you were caught in an occult energy that he was putting out without (you) realizing it. This is not a good thing. Did you know Page was into the occult ? He once bought the house of a famous black magician.
It may be a "cheap" guitar, but for a priceless cause; the Children! Actually, Yahama makes nice inexpensive guitar's with a descent sound. Any guitarists out there that can confirm this?! He may be getting old, but his music is timeless!
He's a genius with all the faults and failings of every human. He and his music are wonderful but not magical( good or bad). All this soul stealing stuff is nonsense. Are we living in the middle ages when anything you didn't understand must be "magic"? Get a grip folks.
Simply the most influential rock guitarist of all time...you can argue technique, ability, or how prolific....but in terms of the most influential to the following generations of rock..blues rock...etc...he is simply the one.
A living legend. Having met the man himself in November 2005, the memory of which will live with me forever (and it ultimately led to me meeting and marrying my beautiful wife Fiona - she recognised him in the pic on my profile), I can assure the world that Jimmy is the most humble unpretentious Gentleman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Inspired by him from the age of 12 to play guitar, and oh lord, the world is a better place for Jimmy and Led Zeppelin. Blessed be!
He's a man with no soul! Believe it or not! At this age he would've been far out in his health wise! He's some kind of a man with young soul and very old on the outside! Like what happened to his first wife, Patricia Ecker? She died because this man took her young soul to extend his life time! It's a heart breaker 💔! Imagine!🤔
It's so funny hearing people whining about Jimmy Page plagiarizing other peoples' songs. If that is the case, you have to wonder why all those supposedly lifted songs remained unknown until magically Led Zeppelin made them famous. Jimmy Page is resented and envied. Maybe because he is the best rock and blues guitarist alive and made Led Zeppelin the greatest band ever.
Fuckin spot on mate. People seem to not understand what plagiarism is and most of the songs they are criticized for plagiarizing isnt even plagiarism. Artists find inspiration from other artists and it is the circle of music everyone including when it comes to blues and rock has their own style if you use the bass of a song and completely rearrange it its not plagiarism or if you write a song and just a certain section is taken from a song changed abit and slot into yours its not plagiarism and his ability to do that and conpose some of the greatest songs ever written with his god given talent is exactly why hes the greatest guitarist to ever live
Exactly! I don't understand the people who complain when he "plagiarizes", but not when their favorite rap artists buy all their lyrics from poor indonesian writers. Its ridiculous. And there isn't a sing musician out there who hasn't redone one of their favorite artists songs.
He's still great even though he's getting to old! But James Patrick Page! Who is next on your list, which girl are you looking for now since Scarlett Sabot is in her 30's! She's getting old too! You left your other sweethearts with your babies around those ages! So whose coming up next! Make sure she's so pretty!😁
Jimmy... You were, You are and ALWAYS WILL BE the best guitar player to ever live! With that being said... If you went and signed everywhere in the world (From corner to corner) The world would be a much better place. Not that it isn't already with all the angelic masterful licks you have bestowed upon us! We love you Jimmy Page!
For me Jimmy Page tops the list of great guitarists. I mean no disrespect to Hendrix, Clapton, Beck and many others whom I also love. This is coming from a guy who's favorite band is the Stones followed by Led Zep the Beatles, Who etc...(mainly British rock). Cheers!
Man, if I wrote one of the songs Jimmy Page wrote, I'd be mighty proud of myself, but he's got decades of awesome playing and songwriting. The combination of blues, country, folk and rock that Zeppelin did to me, is unmatched. I'm glad they did the 2007 show with Jason on drums. I also get why Plant doesn't want to go back and try to recreate what he's already done, even though I'd love to see them live.
Most bands made maybe 2-3 records then self destructed.Alot of the great musicians lived the rock and roll life either die way to young or burned out never to be seen again.I am just glad we still got Page and most of the guitar gods of 80s which was my era.
Respect to you Jimmy if you read this, did you ever get round to doing some Art? (ref the Acomplished Artist video, or Biological research? ) i enjoyed the Jeff Koons interview about your works and life and was hoping to find out some of the answers, my guess is the Art and Biological research ideas were put on the shelf while you followed the music path as a recording artist. A great gesture for donating your guitar for a good cause. all the best to you Jimmy.
Hello Paula - well, it was a heartstopping moment, that's for sure! I mean, I walked into this big, very plush bar and there was the man who had inspired me from the age of 14, and continues to do so, just stood in the room casually talking to Pat Cash the tennis player! My heart literally skipped a beat. It wasn't until later in the evening that the opportunity arose to speak to him, and I very briefly mumbled about the gig we had done for his charity. There is a photo,I'll try and show it here.
I really love the way it sounds Raw, can really see how he accomplishes writing and arranging of the song, before it was mixed in the studio with all the other instruments and tracks really good to see ,"rock on Jimmy" from the "Heavenly Mead" of the Taos Pueblo, NM " it reminds me of the way we did it"!
When you reach at this stage you will only see some goodness, he has so many controversies during his younger years speacially when he has relationship to a minor and he hide her on his place
Musos who travel don’t want to take a high end instrument & have it thrown around in buses & planes & be mistreated by rough handlers;( there is also the humidity factor) They just want something that will do the job until they get back home. Hence a workable instrument like a Yamaha, Takamine, Seagull etc…that can be picked up easily & cheaply & left behind at the airport or hotel without regret when its time to go. It keeps the ‘fingers & ears in’ until the return to the babies back home.
Jimmy Page visited Hiroshima a few years ago and laid flowers as a tribute. Back in the 70's Led Zep played concerts in Japan and all their proceeds went to help victims of Hiroshima.
PreserveBigCats - Getting old beats the alternative. Well, so far, at least. Jimmy Page is still a monster player and always has been. If you dismissed his Zeppelin work, his earlier studio work would still give him a 5 star rating. When you listen to the 60's British Invasion bands, a huge chunk of what you hear is Page... but that doesnt mean yamaha is crap. yamaha has always been well built quality guitars rivalring top brand guitars in a very affordable price. pretty sure when page picked the guitar he would have been impressed
When you sit back and just think about what that man has contributed to rock, and the people he has played with - it is absolutely intimidating. When that dude walks into a building, the foundation rumbles.
Wow! I used to stay in Pattaya Beach, Thailand when I was stationed nearby during the Viet Nam war. And I bought a Yamaha 12 string over there that I brought back to the US in 1971!

Jimmy in Thailand, what a trip. I had a girl in Thailand that was my lady, same day as Jimmy-- Jan 9th birthday. Jimmys daughter, Scarlet, has same birthday as me.
Under the current rate exchange, this guitar fetched $13,448.61 at auction. I'd say that's a healthy bit for a guitar once owned and played by Jimmy Page.
When I met him in Kensington last May near his house, he said to me after my salute "Hi guys! Sorry I'm late. I'm in a hurry and I have to go", holding my hand. Well, since that day I did not have more washed it. :D
