It has taken me 4 days to get through this video. Every single album you put up, I’d have to pause the video and listen to the whole album. Such impeccable and varied tastes, thank you for turning me on to so much new ( to me) music. Keep up the great work.
I worked with a 60 year old guy named bill in high school. We got to talking about zeppelin and he started telling me about a band he loved listening to back in the day and told me about emerge. First psych album i listened to and thanks to him I have been hooked on psych since.
Honestly, I've been using UA-cam just to watch stuff and find good music now and then and I've never felt compelled to write a comment on anything but have just watched this video and being a massive music fan with a pretty big music collection, I've never had a recommendation like this one where I LOVED pretty much almost all of the recommended. Massively appreciated you taking the time to share interesting great music. Keep up the good work. Just wanted to leave some words of appreciation. All the best, Clayton
Just found you on the UA-cam. Just got some powered speakers, broke out my old Technics TT from 1978 (Where did the Dual go? Lost in the cloud of smoke, I do believe. To bad really) and started listening to my old LP's. After watching you for hours I've spent a couple of hundo chasing down some of your favorites and recommendations. You can stop, take a pause...you're killing me! Hopefully the D.A. will not be home when all this weird vinyl starts to arrive. Thanks for delving into the little known and out there stuff. Growing up in the U.P. of Michigan, I did not get exposed to a lot of the really great stuff, but the old a.m. radio would really pick up "skip" beams from all over. I think L. Michigan pulled them in. So I did hear things out there, but mostly I did not know the artist, or the song. My interest was piqued tho, and so now, here I am listening again and collecting. Subbed 👍
Some great picks!! I picked up that Anne Pebbles this past summer at a record show. A blind buy I purchased just because of the artwork lol. That Karen Dalton looks amazing! Will certainly check that out. Hopkins, Morgan, Cannonball, Betty Davis...perfection.
Found all but Morgan - Morgan on Spotify. Thanks for the killer suggestions. You have been single handedily been improving quarantine. Please keep it up!

Wow. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I returned from Vietnam in Nov of 1971 with a reel to reel copy of an album I thought was called Suntory. I didn't know if that was the band name or the album. I got a copy of the tape from a fellow GI who went to Japan on R&R and brought it back. When I returned home I played the hell out of that tape and made several copies for friends. Everyone loved it. Somehow I lost my copy and have searched for the band or album for 50 years! Never knowing exactly what I was looking for. As soon as I saw you hold that copy up I knew. I did a quick UA-cam search and that was it. Thank you again from an old Flower Travelin' Band fan.
Just started Getting into jazz blues just listened to something else cannonball adderley sound nice and relaxing is there are are vinyl sounding albums are good would be awesome to get in 😀
I went out and bought the Lee Moses Time and Place reissue and that album has changed my life dude. i’ve never heard anything like it. & I just wanted to give you my sincere thanks for recommending all this music. It means more than you’ll ever know.
Thanks Dylan for sharing the music! Wrecking ball is great I was in radio at the time it came out and got a outtakes copy on cd I guess thats the stuff they put on the rsd album. Peace
I love this album by Neil Merrywether's "space-hard-rock" band, and the cover is really beautiful too, and i also have "Thunder Rose....., great albums.
Awesome video! I am a vinyl fan too! Albums I buy, had great, great hits on them! From RNB, pop, adult contemporary, jazz or smooth jazz, a little rock, classic country, big band, singers/standards, vinyl I own is from the 1950's to the mid 90's! Out of all the over 350 I have, I also have some '12 inches!
i agree with you SO much on that Emmylou Harris record.. everybody should listen to this beautiful album and if they dont like it, they probably dont have a heart..

This is crazy! I’m just starting my vinyl collection and your videos are totally blowing my mind. Thank you for taking the time to put this information out there! I feel (or felt) like I’ve got a pretty good taste in music and have heard a lot, but love being introduced to bands/albums for the first time! Thank you again!
I love your work and essays. I don't know what else to call them. Such a great, wide ranging ear. I always like to think of myself in that way. But I learned and picked up so many pointers and knowledge from you, Dillion. I am very thankful for that. Since you go where ever good music goes, no matter of style, age or language I need to recommend one of the greatest songwriters of the rock/pop era to you: Lucio Battisti from Italy. He sung in Italian. All his golden era material was written together with lyricist Mogol. The albums from 1970 to 1980 exactly are all fantastic. He was incredibly prolific, and wrote top charting hits for other artists as well. The greatest Italian diva, Mina had some of her very best material written by him. When you talk about 'the craft' and depth these albums are just so, so good. He went through different periods; as any great songwriter will do. There are the early 60's pop songs; there is the thoughtful, rebellious, acoustic guitar and voice period. then he basically raided all the existing Italian bands, and pieced his own TOPNOTCH! group together. This is something that doesn't get talked about too much in reviews about him: just how great the band was. Always prominent Hammond organ; and then the whole romantic Italian influence, combined with what they were hearing and processing from the UK and US. A long voyage to South America had a profound influence on him, and he released the album "Anima Latina". No hit singles; some abstract structure. But maybe his very best work. ua-cam.com/video/WeSYsIDiJag/v-deo.html. Im sorry I just had to attach a track.
You should check out these psych albums they are a little less unknown! You would definitely dig them! Tomorrows Gift - Tomorrows Gift (Germany) Ainigma - Diluvium (Germany) Raul Porchetto - Cristo Rock (Argentina) Los Vikings - La Inmensidad (El Salvador) Hako Yamasaki - Tsunami (Japan) Os Caculas - Os Caculas (Brazil) O Terco - Criaturas de Noite (Brazil) Great vid! 👍🏻 😎
Thanks for your recommendations, based on this I went out and bought Lee Morgan - The Cooker this morning, on Tone Note, in one of my local record stores. Greetings from Sweden.
Greetings Dylan from England. Have to say i have not come across these apart from the jazz albums, but what the heck it is still very intetesting video. I cannot wait for record shops and charity shops to reopen. Take care now.
Hey Dillion have you heard Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream". I found one at a thrift store this one time and brought it home to give it a listen. Surprisingly good!
Everyone finds that in the bargain bins and thrift stores EXCEPT me. I want a copy because my parents had it and it was my introduction to Herb. (Nice try Bruce I see what you did there )🤣
Holy soul!! I got as far as Ann Peebles (never heard her name in my life sad to say) paused your vid, listened on Spotify and then found the one reissue copy available in Australia on Discogs - BOUGHT IT!! Incredible album 😊 - thanks for sharing this Dillon. I hope the next 19 are terrible otherwise this video will cost me a fortune.
Who in the crap would give a thumbs down for this video? Such great recommendations. Thank you!!!!!! Ordered the Lightnin Hopkins and Sonny Terry record. Had no idea they made an album!
blackpeach right? I hate people! Why do people on youtube hate? Like what for? Its so pointless. If you dont like it, just click away. Dillon is awesome
Man thank you so much for this channel. Music is my life, I just started to collect vinyl a little bit, mostly reissues of stuff I listen to as a kid. My crown jewel right now is probably an original pressing of Metallica's Creeping Death EP with blue vinyl. It was given to me by a good friend of mine! I haven't heard of any of these bands in this video so I have some research to do. Keep them videos coming
Ann Peebles and Bonny Light Horseman have been heavy in my rotation since watching this. Awesome stuff! Would be really cool if you had a Noble Records Spotify playlist with your favorite music. Just a thought...
Robin Trower and Nektar added to the wishlist. Just streamed them and they’re fantastic! Unfortunately Nektar looking tricky to get in the UK. Maybe I should book my next holiday around a trip to your store. Or maybe I’ll wait until you have enough capacity for online sales. Probably better for my bank balance and vinyl storage that you’re not doing that ATM 😂
Thanks for the records suggestions. King of the black sunrise is actually mind blowing! I would have also suggested, in order to get a badass girls trilogy with Ann Peebles and Betty Davis, Tina Turner's Acid Queen album. Great musical taste ;)
Another solid list! Thanks for the heads up on a few of these artists. You should check out Mandalaband's album The Eye of Wendor: Prophecies, really blew me away, very hard to define.
Hey dylan or anyone else on here! Can you recommend any other albums that sound very close to Satori? It's such an awesome sound I wouldn't mind finding tons that sound like it!
Something’ Else has long been one of my favorite jazz albums. Definitely one that led me deeper into the genre. Great list and thanks for the recommendations. Will be checking them all out!
Greetings Dillion from the UK. I recently fell upon your videos and have been really enjoying them. Thanks for introducing me to some great music that I may never of even heard about. I do like a good top ten or 20 list video and wondered if you had a favourite collection of live albums. For me the 70's were the golden age of official live records - Deep Purple - Made in Japan, Hawkwind - The Space Ritual, Nektar - Sounds Like This...but I'm sure there are so many others you know that would make an interesting video. Anyway best wishes to you, your business and your family. Stay safe Stuart.
Cool video, thank you! Gonna check out Bonny Light Horseman for sure. I LOVE Betty Davis since I was young and "They say I'm different" too, but to me her Top-Album is still "Nasty Gal".
Judee Sill has been on my radar for quite some time. I’ve been wanting to work my way through some of the early American folk artists. This may be polarizing to the VC but Jazz is a genre I haven’t really touched up on and I may end up picking up a starter pack of albums for the sake of having them and I’ll be sure to wrap my head around them. Excellent recommendations, cheers!
You can’t know everything about everything. Jazz can be tough to break into, I only get into stuff that I truly like, but stuff I feel like I should like. That’s probably why I’m not as knowledgeable on jazz as blues and psych. 🤷♂️
Roy Harper - Stormcock; Crowd - Another Concert Somewhere; Heartless Bastards - The Mountain; Tim Buckley - Lorca; The Groundhogs - Blues Obituary; Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance; Philip Glass - Glassworks; The Mekons - Devils Rats And Piggies; The Index black cover album; Chicken Shack - Imagination Lady.
The Soundtrack of our Lives, a Stones type band from Sweden. Just to start with: the opening track of their first album sets the tone. And you mentioned the Cynics, a band I love. I always think of them together with the Scientists from Australia. I do apologize for throwing out all these names in the feedback section. But it is not too often I find someone who I am pretty sure will appreciate.
You’ve turned me on to quite a few artists I did not know, but Judee Sill’s The Kiss is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard, both lyrically and melodically. Although not on the album you showed, Karen Dalton’s Something on Your Mind and Are You Leaving for the Country? Have been on my playlist for weeks now. Spectacular.
Great video Dillon, I loved the records you showed. I was shocked you showed Karen Daulton she is one of my favourites. I am not sure if you have this album or not but check out Seiche it’s a guitar virtuoso jam from the early eighties I think you would enjoy it. Cheers Snowy
I've been checking out your videos and I would love to hear what you think about The Dictators Go Girl Crazy. It predates the Ramones and is of the punk genre. They were regulars at CBGB's. Thanks for turning me into so much good music .
Finally had a chance to listen to Judee Sill, Heart Food. Hmm. Intrigued but I wasn’t amazed. Too processed for me. But then I found the BBC live in London recordings and wow! I was amazed. She can write. She can play. And she can sing. If you liked Heart Food I think that you would love the live recordings. Just her and a guitar or piano. She even has a good sense of humor. The newer package called Songs of Rapture and Redemption is also very very good. There is a lot of repetition between and on them, but listen to both and decide which you would get. Thanks Dillon!
Great list. I was checking each album out on Amazon Music (have a subscription) and love every one. Btw, I've been making CD's ripped from my vinyl collection for my brother-in-law (another heavy record collector) and tried to keep them to albums long out-of-print and not on any streaming service (as far as I know). There may be some CDs still available but they're either used or imports (big bucks) or on specialty labels or individual LP songs confined to greatest hits/anthology collections. Anyway, here's a partial list. See if you or anyone has some in their collections. 😉 *Bonnie Koloc* (sublime late 60's-70's folk singer-songwriter, very big in her hometown of Chicago, LPs Hold On To Me, After All This Time) *Jim Capaldi* (former Traffic drummer/fine songwriter, solo LPs Daughter of the Night, Short Cut Draw Blood, Fierce Heart) *Ian McLagan* (talented Small Faces/Faces keyboardist, wide session work, solo LPs Bump in the Night, Troublemaker) *Simon & Bard Group* (fine early 80's progressive jazz, LP Tear It Up) *Chango* (fantastic Santana-influenced band from the 70's, LP Honey is Sweeter Than Blood) *The Brains* (cool late 70's, early 80's Rock, best known for the original version of Money Changes Everything, LPs The Brains, Electronic Eden, Dancing Under Streetlights EP) *Payolas* (superb 80's rock-new wave group and one of my favorite bands when I first started collecting back in the early 80's, LPs In a Place Like This, No Stranger to Danger, Hammer on a Drum)
Really good recommendations! Lightnin’ Hopkins has been an essential during this quarantine. What’s the name of that top right corner album with the guy meditating tho? Looks really familiar
Hey Dillon, have you ever found "Death Travels West" by The Embarrassment? I found out about them a few years ago, before I started collecting and now I'm jonesing to find a copy.
That Emmylou Harris record is easily in my top 20 or even top 10. Daniel Lanois is an Alchemist, and Emmylou’s vocals are incredible, and some of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Also working with Steve Earle (Goodbye slays me) and Neil Young, it’s kind of a perfect record.
Hey Dylan, I live here in Charlotte and never knew you had a youtube channel! Can't wait to swing by the shop when all this COVID mess is over. Any official word on when you guys might reopen? Loving the channel, keep up the great content.
Great selections! Heres,a few doomy dark heavies to feed your dark side Black hole "land of mystery" Barri watts "soulcatcher" Paul chain " life and death" Damon "entrance to hell" ex hard stuff members and the watch a newer zep type group ! That flower traveling band is a classic ! Maybe the first to cover sabbath tunes also?
Hey Dylan! I’ve been binging your videos and was wondering when you think your planning to open the shop again. Here in Virginia the lockdown is until mid June. Is it the same in NC? I’m about 4 hours away from you (your in Charlotte, right?) I’ll definitely stop by if I’m passing through! Anyway, thanks :)
Yeah, we aren’t sure, they said April 1st then they said April 29th now they are saying May 8th. So we aren’t sure, but we will post a video when we are back open! Thanks!
Hi Noble Records ! Random question. WHAT do you think about this band? "Mystic Crystal Astrolgic Band" I will be grateful for your opinions. I wonder whether to buy today. Best Regards Michael
I’ve been listening to more and more David Ramirez since my wife has been binge watching your YT. David if you’re out there please sign my album because I believe every song was taken from my diary. Planning on seeing him in the Midwest tour so Dillon put out a bunch of content in June so wife has an excuse not to join me.
Hello again! I have some vinyl suggestions to listen to: YES "Fragile" (1972), History Of rhythm and Blues: The Roots 1947-52 (1968), more History of Rhythm and Blues: The Golden Years 1953-55 (1968), The Drifters Golden Hits (1968), The Coasters Early Recordings (1971), The Platters Encore Of Golden Hits (1960), Brook Benton Golden Hits (1959 or 60), Tommy Edwards Greatest Hits (1961), Della Reese "Della" (1960), Lena Horne "Songs By Burke and Van Heusen" (1959). If you need an idea for a show, you should do good budget albums. Like stuff under ten dollars that is great and easy to get.
That’s one I have been planning on doing!
Noble Records epic.

Hey Dillion have you heard Herb Alpert "Whipped Cream". I found one at a thrift store this one time and brought it home to give it a listen. Surprisingly good!
My mom had that album when it was new!
I traded my copy for a World of Jim Nabors, and I feel like I got suckered.
Everyone finds that in the bargain bins and thrift stores EXCEPT me. I want a copy because my parents had it and it was my introduction to Herb. (Nice try Bruce I see what you did there )🤣
That's eas yto find in dollar bins; harder to find in good condition. Thankfully, I have about 2-3 in pretty good shape.
Bobbi Pasternak mine too!! lol! I may have it somewhere. I’ll have to give it a look see if I can find it.
Superb selection!! Congrats and thanks so much
Stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago, its' aweson fella! Keep it up, gonna give some these albums a listen. Thanks for sharing
We have very similar taste so you are a great source for new to me music. Thanks!
David Ramirez played my town Umeå. Amazing show!
I just want to say thank you for the excellent recommendation for Ann Peeble. Love the album, definitely gonna look for it.
Love the Spaffords. Thanks Nice to listen to new music, at least for me anyway...
Thanks for the LP turn-ons - much appreciated!
Who in the crap would give a thumbs down for this video? Such great recommendations. Thank you!!!!!! Ordered the Lightnin Hopkins and Sonny Terry record. Had no idea they made an album!
blackpeach right? I hate people! Why do people on youtube hate? Like what for? Its so pointless. If you dont like it, just click away. Dillon is awesome
Thanks for the recommendations. There’s so much I need to explore.
Saved this for tonight when I’m chilling. I just started doing my own VC vids thanks to you sir.
Dude, I need that Judee Sill now. Thanks for the recommendations! Will have to check out a few of the others too
Thank God for people like you!
I never have heard you talk about Dave Mason Alone Together album multi colored vinyl
Bought a nice reissue of Last Night Blues. Great recommendations. May be my favorite Blues album ever now.
Hey dylan or anyone else on here! Can you recommend any other albums that sound very close to Satori? It's such an awesome sound I wouldn't mind finding tons that sound like it!
thanks, loved the video and the tips. Great stuff.
Just clicked on Satori. I'm hooked 😂. Thanks for the recommendations
Thanks for watching! Yeah Judee Sill is phenomenal
Thanks for introducing me to Ann Peebles, just bought her Greatest Hits album from Amazon. I believe she's the female Al Green..
Great video Dillon, I loved the records you showed. I was shocked you showed Karen Daulton she is one of my favourites. I am not sure if you have this album or not but check out Seiche it’s a guitar virtuoso jam from the early eighties I think you would enjoy it. Cheers Snowy
Loved the Neil merryweather lp thanks for that. May I recommend a British band called church of the cosmic skull they remind me merryweather.
Thanks for suggestion Bonny Light Horseman.
I've been checking out your videos and I would love to hear what you think about The Dictators Go Girl Crazy. It predates the Ramones and is of the punk genre. They were regulars at CBGB's. Thanks for turning me into so much good music .
Oh, and the boys from Pugsley Munion were stellar!
Thank you, love your recommendations
Every once and awhile you post something that I really love. ;) Today that’s the David Ramirez Fables album. I’m gonna try to find that one.
Thanks for the recommendations. I can't wait to rip into them
😉
*Bonnie Koloc* (sublime late 60's-70's folk singer-songwriter, very big in her hometown of Chicago, LPs Hold On To Me, After All This Time)
*Jim Capaldi* (former Traffic drummer/fine songwriter, solo LPs Daughter of the Night, Short Cut Draw Blood, Fierce Heart)
*Ian McLagan* (talented Small Faces/Faces keyboardist, wide session work, solo LPs Bump in the Night, Troublemaker)
*Simon & Bard Group* (fine early 80's progressive jazz, LP Tear It Up)
*Chango* (fantastic Santana-influenced band from the 70's, LP Honey is Sweeter Than Blood)
*The Brains* (cool late 70's, early 80's Rock, best known for the original version of Money Changes Everything, LPs The Brains, Electronic Eden, Dancing Under Streetlights EP)
*Payolas* (superb 80's rock-new wave group and one of my favorite bands when I first started collecting back in the early 80's, LPs In a Place Like This, No Stranger to Danger, Hammer on a Drum)
Really enjoy your show and recommenations. Consider playing a short samples of your list, for some added flavor 🤜💥🤛
Great video, I will listen to them for sure
Started with the Ann Peebles. Wow, what a record!
Great selections! Heres,a few doomy dark heavies to feed your dark side
Black hole "land of mystery"
Barri watts "soulcatcher"
Paul chain " life and death"
Damon "entrance to hell" ex hard stuff members and the watch a newer zep type group !
Thanks!
When do you think noble records will be back open?
Hi Noble Records !
Random question. WHAT do you think about this band?
"Mystic Crystal Astrolgic Band" I will be grateful for your opinions.
I wonder whether to buy today.
Best Regards
Michael
I’ve been listening to more and more David Ramirez since my wife has been binge watching your YT. David if you’re out there please sign my album because I believe every song was taken from my diary. Planning on seeing him in the Midwest tour so Dillon put out a bunch of content in June so wife has an excuse not to join me.
Dill, we have the same taste honey, i rant and rave about judee sill too.
I own them all!
Great recommendations thanks a lot!
It was because of your recommendation that I got into Karen Dalton so thank you but now I’m on a quest to get It’s So Hard To Tell Who’s Going To Love You The Best on vinyl and I’ve not had any success so far... 😩
Merryweather is a galactic god!!! Awesome video
Dillion, which press of somethin' else do you recommend?
Dylan "a friend o’mine" from Noble Records
My best obscure recommendation:
Barbed Wire Sandwich - Black Cat Bones
ann peebels did I can't stand the rain the original, awesome
Flower Travelling Band was the only album my neighbors complained about....insanely good
glenn hornbeek Wow, they are Satan. I loved Satori! So so good
Such a great list! 🙏 🌻 🙏
1959 is actually considered the best year of jazz (Kind of Blue, Time Out, Ah Um, et al)
You should check.out the Claypool Lennon Delirium version of Satori if you haven't heard it. It's bad ass 👍
Good version. One can only hope it leads a new generation to discover FTB.
THE LEE MORGAN RECORD WHEEWWWWW 🔥
Right!?!?!
