This is another gig from Germany, I don't know how many shows they did. But Ronnie's voice was more downbeat. Ronald was my godfather & Jimmy Bain was my cousin, I will never forget them two what a pair. I love you Jimmy, & Uncle Ronald, I miss your wisdom, and what you taught me. I miss them so much but I know you guys and now with Cozy are driving the good lord crazy .
Your cousin is one of my inspirations as a bass player. I was very saddened when he passed away. Ronnie is a true hero. Not only in his music but also his humanitarian work. They are both legends and I miss both dearly. I regret that I never got the opportunity to see either perform live. May they both Rock in peace.
whenever I am in the area and I pay my respects to Ronnie I make sure I stop and do the same with Jimmy RIP
This is Rainbow live in Nuremberg ( Nürnberg) and its recorded on CD.
You can find it on UA-cam.
OMG how awesome!!
Lynn, what a honor to read your words, sad but inspirational, life’s like that huh? I saw these guys many times over the years and their music always brings me joy. Peace and rock and roll to you dear.

Thanks for doing this , much appreciated

Sensacional great song , great recording.
Do You Close Your Eyes No Guitar Crash
Ronnie James Dio's best work was arguably with Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow. The songs he wrote with Tony Iommi in Black Sabbath and with his own band Dio were quite good as well, but Dio/Blackmore were an unbeatable combination!
Glad he did sab though, Die young +children of the sea are a trip man.
@@timpenfield5 Both Dio Sabbath records rule
@@petarticinovic2710 Yes, both classics.
Rainbow the Godfathers of Hard Rock
Sabbath the Godfathers of Heavy Metal
Agreed
This concert is from Nürnberg (Nuremberg) in Germany on September 28, 1976; one can recognize this from the notes played for tuning before the "Toto.." tape starts. The concert has been released on CD in 2007, and parts of were contributed to the "Live in Germany 1976" CD from the 90s.
Also note that at 1:25:10, right before the encore, the audience repeatedly screams "Zugabe" which is German for "encore", so definitely not Japan :)
Nice I have the Cologne cd from the set.
Yeah, I thought that too... my source said Japan but yeah I recall hearing some harsh sounding language which was german I suppose. Thanks for the info. To my knowledge the clarity of the recording was not previously available. I've heard the recording you talk about but this must be a different night because DIO's voice is not that loud in those recordings.
@@AMetalheadsJourney It is Nuremberg. Just listen to how Dio introduces Stargazer.
@@AMetalheadsJourney It is definitely the night in Nuremberg on Sept. 28, '76. I have the Nuremberg CD here, and all the chats between songs are entirely identical
Thx bro!🤟🏻
The greatest band in the world.
Greatest singer, guitarist, songwriting and cozy is the best drummer. He was as good as pert and better than every drummer In rock and metal
Hard to argue against anything you said...haha.
though I don't agree with you on any of those, I will say they are all up there for me. Dio is too obnoxious for me even in his early Rainbow years, but he has a killer distinctive voice thats very amped up. Their songwriting wasn't great, the lyrics maybe were cool but they didn't make enough good songs compared to other bands. They did have a few great ones, but it was mostly their playing that they excelled at. Blackmore to me is the greatest lead guitarist ever. Cozy Powell isn't the greatest drummer but I'll def take him over neil Peart any fucking day. Bottom line is Rainbow is almost like a Led Zeppelin cover band with a medieval theme, even though their music was faster and more crushing than Zeppelin it severely lacked depth and dynamics. They ripped off Physical Graffiti to make Rising and Long Live Rock N' Roll. Blackmore whether hell admit it idolized Page's success and creativity, even though he may have been a better axeman. COzy Powell would be the first to tell you John Bonham is his main influence on his style, maybe not technique or licks, but his style is like a John Bonham ripoff. He loved and idolized John as a musician and a friend. So bands like Zeppelin, King Crimson, Cream, are much better than Rainbow. But Rainbow at their peak was much louder and heavier. COZY POWELL IS THE BEST HARD HITTING ROCK/METAL DRUMMER EVER. But still, not the best drummer, and neither is Blackmore, who I view as the greatest lead guitarist but Hendrix and Page are both better. All is my opinion but your'e not far off. Oh yeah, and RObert Plant is bascially Dio's dad if you compare them. Plant started the whole high pitched long haired rock frontmen that Ian Gillan. David Coverdale, Sammy Hagar, Dio, and so many others literally copied. Zeppelin is the greatest band. Not some group called Raibow that Blackmore formed in the ashes of the dark days of Deep Purple. Rainbow, good, yes. Greatest, I guess to you...
I love Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, but when I hear Rainbow with Dio, I forget them all. I wish we would have 70´s Black Sabbath concerts with the quality of this.

@@connorclarke1218 - WTF are you rambling about? Everything you said was either total bullshit or instantly contradicted by your next sentence, except when you said Blackmore is not the greatest drummer. You were spot on with that!
This is definitely Blackmore at his peak.
Shame blackmore and Dio never made up.
Its not the only reason a proper rainbow reunion didn't happen. Richie was put under the spell of a pretty woman who didnt allow him to play rock music otherwise i think it could have happened.
This lineup was one of the best rock bands ever! The energy was incredible, the musicianship even better.
NEVER heard Stargazer live! Awesome! Thanks for the upload 🙏
@Richie Blackmore on my page I have a video of me trying to play the song + solo. I learned it by ear and I think it’s close and has the right feel. Love to hear what you think! Thanks.
Great alternative to the On Stage album. I still remember the first tour - mind blowing!
ritchie blackmore and dio. it's enough

And Cozy
やはり、Dio様かっこいい!私ならこう歌いたい!と、言ったブラックモアさんの気持ち分かります!
I grew up listing to rainbow. my uncle loved blackmore and played all his music . The first 2 rainbow albums are my favorite.
Can't believe I saw Rainbow on this tour in San Francisco. I was 13 and it was my first concert. A complete life changing experience.
Did you see them at Winterland just before it closed down?
@@garysondrini4911 it was at Winterland but not sure when it closed. Epic show
For those who dont know about the source of the concert, its date is 28 September 1976, and the recording was officialy released back in 2006 as part of the Deutschland Tournee box set, so it has nothing of "rare"
Its unbelievable how great these guys were!
I had the pleasure to see them in 1977 and I will never forget.
Ronnie you were a real inspiration for me since then and i am a fan for over 40 years.
Great guy, fantastic singer and a real musician!
Apparently he was true gentleman too
That's a good way to put it. "unbelievable how good these guys were" It's almost scary, the voice, riffs, solos, improv harmony, just sick, u know who's singing backup?
@@timpenfield5 as far as I know, it was Ronnie James Dio himself in those days.
I too saw them in 1977 at the Rainbow Theatre,
I was 17 yrs old and I still feel it and live it whenever I hear this stuff,

Not really.
Ritchie was. Ritchies best def was from 72-76 imo, untouchable. Ronnies peak was prob 84 untouchable.
Cozy prob was at his. The rest of guys, workers. Long live Rainbow!
Am I the only one who consistently receives ADs in the middle of the songs?
It Absolutely Ruins the the Song, Interrupts Practicing along, work, shower, the Emotional Drive of the Songs, and even a distraction while driving...
Great Live Recording... Amazing... but I will have to unsubscribe or remove the Concert if it continues... or I could pay UA-cam for AdFree... but I thought the person who posts the music has control over where, when, and how many ads are in the production ???
In anycase, I will Always Love DIO, RAINBOW, Ritchie Blackmore, and all of the Incredible Musicians who have been apart of RAINBOW Throughout the Decades....\m/
As a 16yo I saw Rainbow in late November 1976 at the Adelaide Festival Theatre. His voice - the band was awesome - the rainbow electronics worked perfectly - the amazing acoustics of the theatre. I still remember it vividly nearly 46 years later. The movement of the rainbow at times was simply mesmerising . They were that good.
I love in Ireland....Rainbow never toured here...but I've been this line ups fan since I discovered them aged 16....you know there's about 40 live concert recordings by this line up on youtube??? Mostly excellent quality..some others featured Stargazer also...and a light in the black....I've about 25 gigs on USB's in my old car....

The line up of RAINBOW
Junior Pontes - Why are you on every Rainbow video listing the members’ full names? It’s weird and unnecessary. Please stop.
For some reason this makes me melancholy. Not just because the whole band has passed away (other than Ritchie), but because the music was such high quality and the musicians so talented. Nowdays what passes for music is whatever stupid pre-pubescent can twerk the best onstage. Nobody listens with their ears anymore.
Tony Carey Is still with us.
Brilliant
Still I'm sad is the same that is on the On Stage Album but with a different voice track.
RIP to Dio, the true King. \m/
I came for Stargazer... 🔥
Is that Jimmy Bain singing backing vocals on catch the rainbow
I Believe it to be Tony Carey (keyboardist) as he is a singer in various bands
Sounds like Jimmy Bain to me. Check his voice in Wild Horses, same tone.

I believe Dio had catch a cold during that time and his nose is stuffed a bit?
One Night later i was in Munich in my first Concert. I was fifteen years old and it was so good with acdc as the beginners.
I could be wrong, BUT... The version of Still I'm Sad here is what ended up on the Live On Stage album.
Obviously the vocal is different and the drum solo is edited out, but to my ears and I've been listening to On Stage since it came out, this is that recording.
I can only assume they re recorded the vocals.
Really qualify sound!! Thanks for the upload! 🌹🎼🎵🎵🎶
ОФИГЕННО!!!
ОДЕССА СЛУШАЕТ!!!
Dio неповторим. Светлая память.
This show is Nuremberg, Sep 28th 1976
I assume this was one of the 3 2 cd sets years ago released as an improvement on earlier live releases like ON STAGE and LIVE IN GERMANY.

Wish it had the video!!!
Cant tolerate these low vibe sounds anymore. The Tony martin era is far superior to this dip era
Rainbow was not the Ronnie James Dio's band. It was especially the Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. The music was composed by Ritchie Blackmore.
Yeah, but after Ronnie left the band, Rainbow have cesaed to exist, practically...they never back to this level unlike Ronnie with Black Sabbath and DIO...it's Ronnie that was something special..
then you might be a little confused, Ronnie did a great job as a composer in Rainbow and Ritchie confronted and admitted this fact.
How big were the Rainbow during their days with Dio? I have seen Between the Eyes vdo and have played a few of their songs but never really got into them like I did into the Stones or Skynyrd. What kind of place would they occupy in the scheme of things Rock n Roll of the Hard Rocking persuasion?
It's Rainbow with Dio, not Dio himself. Live in Japan
Yeah I have both on the title. Remember there are many incarnations of the band. That's why I put DIO on the title. Per others, this is actually from Germany not from Japan as I originally thought. I guess DIO is speaking to the crowd in German.. lol
43:23 MOTSM Rocks
Amazing Dio still life 😁🤘🤘
Very good show.
this is not DIO , this is BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW !
I was too young....but my sister saw this line-up with DIO....
I had to wait for black sabbath before I saw Ronnie....
Rainbow wasn't really a band that touched on social issues, was it? Did it deal mainly with mythical things like whispered dreams and painted dreams? Those are really clever words though, right? How about my fav Rainbow song, Street of Dreams, nice melody and finely structured but it felt like the meaning of the song is just beyond our grasp in this song, too. Was it a band that was founded mainly on Blackmore's guitar skills?
And the main subjects or topics of their songs, what can we say that the main topics of their music are, or, is? There are some really sensitive touches, almost poetry likeness in songs like Catch the Rainbow but the meaning behind it can be really difficult to interpret.
🇸🇬🤘🤘🎤Dio🎸👍👍

One last question for anyone, those guitars that Ritchie would destroy in the end of many of their shows, were they the super expensive genuine US made Fenders or the cheaper Squiers? How much money mst have been wasted on that side of their antics?
Not even Squires at times.check some photos that show a different headstock to Fenders.
Man, Rainbow kinda sucked live. I went to Stargazer and this stupid keyboard solo is sstill going after 5 minutes! I came for fucking Stargazer dammit!

I guess there are some long-ass improvised solos and they jam a lot, but saying "Rainbow kinda sucked live" is one of the dumbest things I've ever read on the internet. And that's a huge achievement!
Just say you dont like this long solos and jams, they're not bad, they dont suck :)
Ritchie is my brother. Ronnie was my son and Cozy was my brother in law. They not only felt like family to me, they actually were. My God, how inspirational this all is.
