To answer your question at 15:36, you can totally parry the Malenia attack. To answer the UNasked question at 14:18, you can also parry the Giant Hunt ash of war.
I gotta say, it was really nice to see you using a single straight sword for once instead of dual wielding, and the shield made it more interesting too. I wish you did all of your straight sword showcases like this.
Honestly crazy that straight swords were sped up considering how fast they are already. I ain't complaining though I am a huge lordsworn straight sword fan since it's closest to the lothric knight sword that we are probably going to get in this game.
lordsworn has much better scaling for hybrid builds too. the AR difference on my faith build is pretty significant. I think cause the slender sword has much better Dex scaling to start vs the lordsworn which is solidly quality and I have bare minimum physical stats.
Yeah, they only sped up the 2h moveset primarily, which is great because powerstance overshadowed everything else about the class. I wish all other weapons powerstance were as powerful - esp those with staggered attacks.
Short sword is the only lothric type straight sword in the game. That’s if you play two handed like me. Only one with the two handed poke heavy. My favorite standard straight sword in the game is it tbh. It was lothrics baby brother in ds3 also. With better stamina on its hits. Made good for my level 1 run.
Flaming strike follow up can be parried. You can block the flames and parry. Useful against flaming strike spammers. Also waterfowl dance (Malenia AoW) can be "parried" you successfully parry it but the attack is bugged and is not interrupted by the parry
Yes love it ,I'm one of the weirdos that don't like dual wielding straight swords except for the ornamental straight sword because 2 handing it is dual wielding it 😅
@@shinobiofashina2168 that's big sad maybe the dlc will fix that tho , major hope that it will bring alot of fixes and new things that will just be cool and unique
I just got the stats to wield sword of night and flame. I thought the light and heavy attacks were absurdly fast and strong compared to when I started the game. Glad to know it's the buff, they really needed it, and I really enjoy the new weapon! :)
Yeah you can parry flaming strike, done it lots of times. Alot of ashes of war are actually parriable, but some only seem to be parryable on the "second attack", for example sworddance. First slash is not parrieable, but the second always is.
You gotta do the Miquellans knight still. I think it’s still not done on your channel. My favorite straight sword in the game. I much prefer the two handed moveset of straight swords to be honest but I know the old dark souls ways love it one handed
All the talk of dks3 made me go back and do some duels and invasions. One thing I noticed is I severly missed elden rings running r2s on the straight swords. The amount of times I accidentally did a jump attack was staggering lmao.
Is there a reason you use the Banished Knight's Shield over other medium shields/possibly even a greatshield? I thought the Brass Shield was better on builds that can handle the strength requirement
I still know that invasions are very much a thing a lot of people do, but I can't every get over how unfair and stupid they are for everyone's first run of the game. There should be ways to disable them or to group people of certain skill sets together rather than allowing someone like you to invade someone who is bad at the game and just wants a friend to have fun with.
what is that sound whenever you get a backstab or riposte? it almost sounds like the opponents mic is turned on for a split second. anyone else hear that? it happens in his other videos too
It's unfortunate that straight swords aren't very good because they're my favorite weapon type in the game. Pretty decent in PvP but in PvE it suffers.
Hey Chase, is it possible to explain how you chain into backstep attacks like I see you often do? I'm trying to block and turn the left stick around and then hit circle after a light attack for example, but it's a lot slower than you do it. Is there a trick to it? Thanks if anyone can help.
Yes, during the attack animation of let’s say a light attack you need to hit the backstep button and then pull back on the analogue and hold it until the backstep initiates, then you will be backstepping towards the enemy and can do a backstep running attack
The finger sever into the parry into the 720* crit is such unimaginable disrespect
I didn't notice he was trying to sever the first time. Chase said, "You're locked in here with me!"
You have to uninstall after that, I don't make the rules

For some reasons, this straight sword invasion brings back the nostalgia of how it felt when we were still playing ds3 invasion.
