After the Bear sweep last time they’ll likely consider the caliber of acting overall in the comedy acting categories. I think Hannah Einbinder has the supporting comedy actress win locked. The “I uprooted my entire life for you” scene between her and Jean Smart showcased a kind of presence and rawness that was transfixing.
I just wish danai gurira (from the walking dead and black panther) got a nomination in either lead actress drama or writing in drama for an episode she wrote that got critical acclaim. Its a shame no black actress was nominated in that category but they nominated 2 black men for lead actor in a drama.
Interesting fact: Based on the number of submissions, Lead Comedy Actor/Actress were supposed to have 5 slots each, but as you can see there are 6 nominees. This means that during voting for the nominations, one of the categories had a tie for the 5th slot, which forced them to expand to 6 nominees. Due to an Emmy rule that says that equivalent Actor/Actress categories have to have the same # of slots, it forced the other to also add an additional nominee. My guess is that Comedy actress was the one with a tie, with Selena, Maya, and Kristin competing for the last 2 slots and two of them tying for the 5th, granting all three a nomination and forcing Comedy Actor to add a 6th slot as well. Hope that makes sense.
Very interesting!!! So Maya and Kirsten probs got the same number of ‘they’re SNL queens, they deserve to be nominated’ votes? 🤔Thanks for sharing this! ☺️
Great great video Jeanne, I have not watched a lot of tv lately, am so far behind and to be honest I do not what series to watch first. I have seen season 1 of The Morning Show and it’s very good. I am planning on watching season 2 and 3 very soon. From what I have seen Karen Pittman performance is my favourite, I just think she knocks it out the park. But I will watch season 2 and 3 very soon. To be honest my favourite show of the year so far has been The Acolyte, I think it’s just an amazing piece of work, of art and is the freshness that Star Wars needs in my opinion. Will be checking out The Boys season 4 very soon too. Looking forward to your review of that show soon. Again great video Jeanne, always so much fun, informative and always puts a smile on my face. Looking forward to the next one Jeanne. Hope your well and loved ones too. Take care always 😊😊
Thank you for getting in touch Jeanne and thank you for your kind words. Always lovely to hear from you 😊. Enjoy enjoy The Morning Show. I will crack on with it next week hopefully. Looking forward to more reviews soon. Have a great great day Jeanne 😊😊
I´m going to edit this comment like ten times, but I want to write down my thoughts, while you speak. 1. Carrie Coon is deffintly getting in because of name regonition and because it is a weak year. Lets just be honest about that. But her nomination is fair however, as she does a really good job with a good script. 2. The winner will most likely be Imelda Staunton as it was the last season of The Crown and it comepletes the circle the Emmys has had with The Crown - that is to give the actress playing Elizabeth the Emmy for her 2nd and last season. Also - it would be very deserving for her to win it, based solely on the last episode alone. 3. Christine Baranski is my favorite to win the surporting actress award, but I doubt she will win. But she is just a hoot to watch. She gives us some amazing one liners here and there. 4. Lead actor in a limited series should so much go to Matt Bomer for his preformance in Fellow Travelers! Also: So happy you finally watched Fellow Travelers! And what about who you think for surporting actor/actress in a limited series? I am missing those Other than that: great video Jeanne. And purple suits you :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Louise, love to hear them as always! 👏🏾 Lead actor in a limited series is an especially tough category this year, but I would be happy with Matt taking home the gold for sure!
I agree with you on shogun. Something about it didn’t hit. I still liked the show. But I’m not mind blown the way others clearly are. It’s always a little annoying when I don’t get the love others have. FOMO I guess
I really enjoyed Shogun but I was already a "fan" of the 1st tvshow and the book. I think, most of us really enjoy the political shenaningans and the beauty/love poured into making the show look as authentic as possible. Also, the Japanese lead actors and actresses are very easy on the eye and that never hurts!
@@moustik31 There was another show?? I didn't realise it was such an established property! I really loved the aesthetic and learning about this era, but after I struggled to connect with Shogun I turned to Blue-Eyed Samurai (Emmy nominee yaay!) and THAT show just took my breath away!
@@JeannesMovieChats Yes but both the 1st show and the book suffers from "positive" racism, aka fetishisation, aka orientalism. That's why, it was extra satisfying to see how the Japanese members of the cast and production team took back what was theirs and made it less "exotic" and more Japanese-centric. And yes Blue-Eyed Samourai is on a whole other league!!! I'm so happy for the nomination! 😁
Hi friends! 😊 So the nominees for this year’s (second) Emmys have been announced! What do you think…??? 🤔😌
The purple looks amazing on you.
Aww thank you friend! 🥹

Good point! Hannah was sensational in Hacks 3, I wouldn’t be mad if she won at all! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Another year, another cmnt by me about The Morning Show having Succession-level of acting
Eliana yessss, I love our tradition! 🙌🏾 But you know what, you and the Academy have broken me down, I’ve officially started watching the show ahaha! 😅
