Nigerian woman comes first in the world with makeup.
I like also how Nigerian woman have never lost their culture in terms of fashion,
I'm South African and I absolutely agree with you on the make up, Nigerian women don't play when it comes to make up. They understand the assignment and deliver every single time!
Periodttt
Agreed🤝
But when it comes to hair, I totally disagree with her. 60k naira is equivalent to R2.5k and 250k naira is approximately R10k -I’m one of the ladies who spend more than 2.5/3k for hair
In SA dreadlocks were not allowed in the professional work world, tatoo etc. We had to fight. That's who we are
Yeah, it's amazing how that changed so quickly in the last 20 years. We take it for granted now, that's why we need to keep that fighting spirit for the next generation.
Lol respectfully disagree we are not fighters our current economy and standard of living is a reflection of that. We used to be fighters. Rn we're too distracted and addicted to escapism to fight for literally anything
@@kamoheloiannk617 I agree with you. We don’t fight for what matters.
@@kamoheloiannk617 I totally agree with you ... South Africa is about to be Zimbabwe 2.0 ( no hate or anything) .

These are the types of comparisons we need between African countries, bringing out our differences without any supremacy battles or belittling or shagging each other.
@@dimbwemazala8978 😂😂😂what a useless comment only Nigeria men that marry SA women are those that are over SA Broo some SA here are getting marry to Nigeria women over here in Nigeria example my friend got marry to SA men wake up!! come to Nigeria and see by yourself our men only fuck SA women nyash and come to us
@@dimbwemazala8978 no they do not marry them.. they use them for fun and come home to marry. Don’t let our men deceive u especially the igbos. They hardly marry outside their tribes
@@dimbwemazala8978 I hope so but that’s not the case for most.. some of them have wives back home… I hope that honestly my brothers can take foreign women seriously.. cheers
@ Amos Adewuni, I’m sorry I disagree with you there. There’s nothing constructive that could be gain in comparing each other. It will eventually decent into bashing each other and put each other down. You could showcase what you think is good about your culture and you hope someone will be inspired. I think this to me is covertly seeking validation and ego pampering. I believe one’s greatness shouldn’t be seen based one somebody else’s perceived inferiority. Pyramids of Giza are not great because of the Great Wall of China is inferior. Each entity is great on its own merit, not because of the inferiority of the other. Nigerian fashion should be great because it is, not because the author of the channel thinks that South African fashion scene is small or not big. Durban July for example showcases the best of fashion that South Africa has to offer. But if you look at it from a subjective point of view, you won’t see it.
@@akojiodinaka5042 You see, that’s what this comparison creates. Animosity, strife and putting each other down. People shouldn’t compare subjective thing like culture. I bet if a South African were to respond in a similar negative tone, would be accused of xenophobia.
You are so on point with your analysis. I'm South African and I've worked for a a SA corporation in Nigeria thus I would second everything you've said. Adding on fashion- South Africa is more of a street wear culture and no one can touch us on that. We really are trendy when it comes to street wear whereas Nigeria is more of a serious glitz & glamour kind of look hence the exaggerated make up, hair and jewelery.
I second this. I feel South African women are even more comfortable in their natural skin and natural hair more. Yes some may wear weaves, wigs and make up but there is a vast amount of those who prefer not to and if they would, they do it minimally. Personally I don't like excessive make-up and flamboyant fashion. So I feel you. I've noticed the differences.
No lies detected hey
@@palesamogorosi8939 south African women cut their hair because it more like their style. Or didnt u hear the part she said cutting of hair in Nigeria has more cultural meaning? Did u skip that part? I'm a South African and I must say Nigerians have their foot on everybody's neck when it comes to makeup and fashion. They have no competition internationally not just continentally and one thing I must say about Nigerians is that they're ALL very driven and competitive which pushes them to excel in whatever they do. South Africans are more laid back the things they're most passionate about is social justice, arts and humanities. I feel we can all learn from each other ❤️

As a South African woman, I must say totally I agree with you on most of the points.
Great observation.

I'm a South African girl and whenever I hear people speak about beauty standards and bring us to the chat I get really confused. We dont have specific beauty standards. We see women looking different and beautiful in their own way. SA girls dont usually care about how we look. We are very hygienic however, we make sure we look and smell clean that's all but we are not going to spend too much time and money on our looks, lol a huge trend among women here is buying hygiene products lol we spend all our money on dischem and clicks 😂😂 we love soaps and perfumes.
Dischem and clicks is going to be the death of us😭😭... also I can't live without perfumes, there's one for every wheather and occasion. You just can't have only one😅

South Africans fought very hard for the right to be their authentic selves. Why would we give that away and hide our beautiful blackness?
We love our look.
Black is beautiful!
We stopped shaving when husbands died, but it is still unusual for married women to go bald.

We Nigerian men hate make up! If u watch Temple tv, deeper life church and Bride assembly Ijesha-Lagos! They preach holiness and encourage no make up and demonic hair at all.

This is why when we see South African woman with no make up with natural hair we love it! Some of our women are very stubborn! This is why we rush South African women!

What i loved the most about this video is that you compared the two beauty standards, but you never mocked one or praised one over the other. You acknowledged that they are different, even opposite, but you see beauty in both standards. For eg. the fashion part. You appreciated that Nigerians are glamourous and flamboyant (not exaggerated, as some might say). You also appreciated that SAns are minimalistic (not basic, as some might say) in their fashion.
Thank you. There’s beauty in both worlds and they must be appreciated
I love this video so much. I'm a South African makeup artist and when it comes to makeup I'm always looking at Nigerian makeup trends first. Nigerian makeup is up there in its own league. Most trends start in America but in makeup I see a lot of American muas also taking notes from Nigerian muas. You're also right about the body, most women in South Africa have the bbl type of bodies, of course there'll be a bit of a belly in most of us but ass and curvy thighs are very common.

We've decolonised many things here but we need the economy and land back now.
Decolonize many things except your minds?! The colonialists are still there. You guys need to decolonize your mind and stop attacking African migrants and looting their businesses. Allow the law enforcement to take care of the criminals among them.
These dinosaurs need to leave power first. Or else 100% of it will be back in the colonisers hands.
Decolonized? Why all the nasty bleaching and hair attachment/weaves/wigs then? The answer: too many African women want to look like mixed. That’s a deeply colonized mind, like this woman here with ghost face and dark body/hands.
Its true there is a strong drive to decolonise coz we live with whites and their presence keeps us on high alert 😂😂
@A Zee The government only controls 15% of the economy and resources. And yes the British still own a vast portion of that 75%
In Southern Africa we love our ladies to be natural and men we are clean shaven, that’s the difference. Botswana, South Africa, namibia, eswatini and Lesotho

Sharon I love your vlog. I liked the way you differentiated between the two countries. You showed us in the vlog that beauty standards vary from country to country. This we cannot dispute. However real beauty is being kind; considerate; responsible; being in tune with other people's feelings. And this type of beauty is universal. I can't wait for your next vlog. Keep posting. We adore you.
You’re very right. Thank you ❤️
This video just reinforced my love for South African women - and I've travelled all over the world (America/Africa/Europe). I'm happy to be South African. I'm blessed.
You're correct...we're mostly minimalist here in South Africa. We like to keep it simple.
Believe you me, you nailed it. I like the fact that you can backup your analysis with images.
You are spot on, and as a South African I enjoyed this video 👌🏽😍
Anyone who gives my country love has my love. New subbie!
You are so on point, your observations are top notch. I noticed all these when I was in South Africa thrice, Cape Town and Johannesburg
You did justice to this comparison without being bias or downgrading. May peace reign in motherland Africa!
I must say, although you praised Nigerians a lot, I’m not mad about what you said about South Africans because you spoke the truth. Nigerians are at the top of their game when it comes to beauty. The beauty standards here in SA differ quite significantly, but we are content with our beauty standards.
I am Nigerian and I discover that the Nigerian need to be dramatic is deep rooted. In the dressing, talking out loud, and even doing extreme gesticulation when talking. The day you understand our language you will discover the overwhelming tones, signs, and words to add different dramatic and exergeration to communication is more of cultural than just dressing.
We consider english not adequate as a language because of the lack of the dramatic effect such that if I have to translate a specific type of exaggerative word from Yoruba, it is usually nearly impossible until I use a sentence or paragraph. Nollywood movies especially the classic local settings should give you an idea and to us it is normal.
This is really beautiful the South African girls are beautiful well curved and clean too hmmmm it’s trending too
Good review I enjoyed your analysis of the differences between the two countries especially the cultural differences.
When a woman loses her husband in South Africa as well, they shave their head bald. Maybe you haven’t noticed but many widows wear black clothing and head wraps to cover their shaved heads. We are just more comfortable in our own skin because we are natural beauties and of course our Nigerian sisters are killing the make-up/fashion game. ❤️🇳🇬🇿🇦 NB: Not a generalization as there are many different cultures.
Yes but let's not generalize not all women shave their heads in South Africa when their husbands die. We come from diverse cultures and so not every person practices those traditions. It's literally a minority who does that.
This video is so so fun, very thorough, and explanatory, you did a very good job, putting this video together, I love your intimate video making, style! it almost, gives you the vibe of a real, one on one conversation with, a friend that came back from, South Africa, and also as a born, and raised Nigerian, I find that, all you said about, the Nigerian beauty trend, and standard is very accurate. I can tell you now that in South Africa you'll rarely find a person wearing a weave. Braids and locs are the most prefered hairstyles next to them is relaxed hair, short hair or an afro. Make-up, we don't go full beat we'd spend more money on cosmetics that make our skin glow than actual make-up. When we do put on make up it's usually light foundation, mascara and lip gloss. We keep it natural for the most part
The dreadlock stereotype used to be there like 10-15 years ago

Loved this video, I guess as a half naija/half trini woman I can relate to both beauty standards. I'm flamboyant to an extent when it comes to jewelry and dressing yes. West and Central African men just have Rich hair, I don't know if in their genes or it's because of weather conditions in their country. Southern African men hair do not grow to that extent
This was so beautiful to watch
Thank youuu❤️
Very informative video, just to add two things regarding men's facial hair and hair on South African men. There are tribes with little to no beard, and there are tribes with lots of it. For example, Sothos and Tswanas usually have little to no facial hair and it's genetic, there are exceptions obviously. While, Xhosas, Tsongas etc have a lot of Facial hair. So it really depends.
Secondly, regarding the clean shaving of head. In some traditional settings, having lots of hair on your head is seen as immature, so shaving is a sign of growing up, especially after your mid-40s. Most guys would just start to shave clean to show that they've grown up. It's changing a lot with the current generation, but if you go to villages or small towns, 80% of men over 40 would have shaved heads.
Nguni speakers and Sotho (Tswana) speakers have less facial because of our Khoi (Khwena) and San (Bushmen) genetic heritage.
The Tsonga, Venda, Lobedu have less KhoiSan blood, hence more hair and bigger body statue
@@ohlangeni thanks for bringing this up, I always asked myself why I have no beard, even my father has no beard, now I know

This is on point! I don’t really care for a fully “beat” face. Powder, mascara and a popping lipstick on good skin does it for me, I do wear the occasional eye shadow.
However, the hair thing has been an issue. I love, bald, short, and braided hair. As a Nigerian whenever I go out it doesn’t matter how beautiful my outfit is there will definitely be a “well meaning” person telling of how complete I would’ve looked with an expensive wig or a “beat face” . It doesn’t matter how I try to tell them that I am in my 40s and definitely know what I like, really 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
My daughters have grown up very minimalist, they love mascara, lip gloss, feminine hygiene products and perfumes but won’t wear wigs or full face of makeup for all the golds in the world.
