      Watching this made me think how fast would F1 cars have been if Senna hadn't died, because each year in the 90s before 1995 the cars always gained atleast 0.5 seconds in laptimes, they were rapidly getting faster and faster

Even though he managed to brake from around 190mph in the split second after the bodged steering column failed, he still hit the wall at around 137mph... RIP

      @@ignaciosebastianmello3413 I don't think Williams intentionally killed him.. It just so happened that they all, Senna and Williams both, made poor decisions of not only asking for that steering column adjustment so late but also for Williams taking it up but doing it in such a poor manner thus leading up to his death.. It's just the fact they tried to cover up everything that made it seem like that, so I don't blame you for feeling this way, but I doubt Adrian nor Frank had the idea of killing Senna as they long since wanted him to join since 83 when he first started and had to start with the Toleman team..
      Cuz everything after Imola, was fixed considering that the next Grand Prix was set in Monaco, 2 to 3 weeks after just he never got to live to see those improvements because he died right before.. Robbed of his 7th consecutive win at Monaco & 6th in a row..

  • @mkukulelecoverversions5576
    @mkukulelecoverversions5576 5 років тому +13

    1:16 You see the chassis-sparks fly up at the same joint of the patch of replaced track, but tyre pressures here would have been optimal, so ride height was at its maximum for this setting. If the height settings were identical on race day, the cold tyres resulting from a restart would have made bottoming more severe, so the case made for this cause seemed a reasonable one to assert.
    But then it is seen that the column was bending, which seems absurd in a operational car, and the video appears to show no effect at the front wheels from steering inputs.
    Is it conceivable either that Senna would have been bodily incapable of making steering inputs in the tiny timeframe when he registered that the car was going straight after bottoming, or that Senna decided to leave the steering angle straight, as shown, perhaps feeling that he could thus regain some control more safely if grip returned, in a split-second consideration of preventing a spin?
    It does not seem likely that Senna would leave the steering straight for any reason except maybe to maximise braking while still on the tarmac. But why would he brake except as a last resort in a catastrophic failure? Since he clearly moves his head far to the left anticipating a collision, would he also naturally have put the steering on full left lock at almost the same moment in an attempt to cause some braking and steering effect in the gravel?
    He was one of the best there will ever be, not just because he was fast in any car, but because he was a magical spirit and a force of nature in all he did in competition. The rarest of mercurial men in a sport that was, back then, full of rare and indomitable alpha types. People may forget or not know that he was a very controversial, unpredictable and divisive character. He was uniquely intimidating to all other drivers except the tough-as-nails Mansell and the elegantly imperious Prost, who matched him and gained his grudging respect. Commentators would continuously refer to the fear of seeing the yellow helmet in the mirrors. The men who disliked him most were all beaten or confounded by him on the circuit or in the political machinations that surround it.
    Schumacher became another Great, and Verstappen would be another but for the fact that Grand Prix racing does not deserve such characters anymore. Sadly, Max has come too late to the F1 party, when the party is over - kaput - Formula gOne.
    Nonetheless, we were and are still blessed to have lived through the '80s and the '90s - the Golden Age of motorsport.

      I mean, with Senna behind the wheel, the engine was competitive enough to at least get it to pole position all 3 qualifying sessions so I don't think that it's a poor car per say, just the handling was the biggest downfall of it.. The fact that the geometry of everything was so off, is what set it back so far, despite the fact that it shouldn't have been competitive since it's handling was so much worse than the other cars, but still was very competitive in every race!

    • @weallfollowmanutd
      @weallfollowmanutd 4 роки тому

      Lots of cars were unstable in 1994, but the Williams was not a poor car. It had a changing balance on the limit, but even a half decent driver like Coulthard could get it always in the top 4 of every race, even when it was at its weakest. A poor car was a Pacific or Minardi.
