A friend brought hers over to play and we discovered that you can use regular dies to foil with. Opens up a lot of options without having to buy just the foiling plates.

Hi Lolly! We met at Scrap 2 It a few months back! I'm waiting for her to get so9me more machines in then I'll be foiling as well I can't wait. I've already bought sevral plates and foils and am all revved up and ready to go. Just surfing UA-cam for video on foiling and came across yours.

I have one of these, I don't use it often. I do have lots of hot foil plates. Jennifer McGuire has a tutorial about how to use the reverse foil leftover after your first foiling. The silicone mat is for placing your hot plates on after you are done foiling.
If you watch the rest of the video, you'll see that I do use the silicone mat for the hot plates :) I did see Jennifer's video & am going to get that solid foil plate. Great idea.

Glad it was helpful! It's been on my wish list for quite awhile.
Lightly rub a sand eraser over it to remove the extra foiled areas. Works wonders.
The eraser I have seemed to work well, but I'm not sure what it's made of.

I have the Glimmer Hot Foil System. I love when it turns out well but more often than not I get frustrated because I am not getting a good result. I have watched others that things turn out so beautiful for, what I do wrong I am not sure. So I was happy to see you have it now also, look forward to tips you will provide for getting the best results. I have seen some say the paper used makes a big difference and have seen some recommend using photo paper as it works well. I have tried the hinge system others use to try to prevent things from moving and that did help some. I would be interested in getting foiling plates from your shop, I am sure as you do videos of your projects that you will be inspiring me to use it more than I currently do.

I didn’t know you could use it on the sizzix machine so I may go out and get one now thank you for sharing
I think I will add a sheet of cardstock when running it through the Big Shot to make it fit a little better, but for this video I wanted to do it the way it's provided. :)
Looks like a big pain for a big price with too much equipment involved, and too much work. It's just another way for big companies to make too much money.
I prefer using my own artistic abilities, with less complications and restrictions. I hate it when everything is so cut and dry, with these companies.
All they care about is protecting their own assets and their big names, constantly putting limitations on artists.
Accessability to more options is not putting limitations on artists :)
