  • In this video I'm sharing how Hot Foil with Regular dies. I typically use Foil or Betterpress plates for foiling but you can also use your regular dies! The look will be different since that isn't really what they were created for. Some dies will look better than others but it's a fun and different way to get another use out of your dies.

    Interesting to know that I can use the dies, this is possible only with the hammermil paper?

    • @ArtsyIslandGirl
      @ArtsyIslandGirl  7 місяців тому

      I’ve used other cardstock but the best result I’ve had is with hammermill. Spellbinders has their own paper as well for foiling but hammermill is much easier for me to get my hands on

    How did you get the foil to foil so well with the large plate. Mine never turns out well. It will be splotchy and not even foil well when I do the throw away foil. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.

    • @ArtsyIslandGirl
      @ArtsyIslandGirl  7 місяців тому +1

      I understand what you are saying but I’ve never had any issues. I leave it on the glimmer machine just a little longer than the timer and use Hammermill cardstock. I’ve also used both the spellbinders platinum machine as well as a Sizzix big shot for the pressure and had the same results with both. My first guess would be the cardstock you’re using. I have a video I did nearly a year ago called “will it foil” where I try out a bunch of cardstock in my craft room and the type of cardstock used made a huge difference in the results.

      @@marilynnellsworth4300 good luck! I’m not sure what else it could be. Also, I believe there are different types of Hammermill cardstock. I have the one with the green lizard on it. I’m not sure how the other Hammermill cardstocks are different from it, but that’s the one I’m using😊

    Those cards are really beautiful! I was wondering if it was possible to foil with dies! Will that work with the other hot foiling system too? I can't remember the name of it right now.

    • @ArtsyIslandGirl
      @ArtsyIslandGirl  7 місяців тому +1

      Tbh, I’m not sure. The glimmer machine is the only one I have. I wanna say the other one is made by Gemini but I could even be wrong in that! 😅

    You need to not do fast photography when you're showing your stuff. I would have loved to seen the The foiling but you went way too quick so I really couldn't see how well it looked. And at the end you were too close to the camera. Other than that I found it useful but I couldn't see what you were doing so I'm not certain if I will try it or not. Thank you though for the instructions.
