    One linguistic note. The word "dollar" comes indeed from the silver coins from Jáchymov. The original German name of the town is Joachimsthal, which gave the name "thaler" to the coins. Thaler became tolar and the rest is history. :)

    • @henningbartels6245
      @henningbartels6245 2 роки тому +6

      Correct. The German name for todays Jáchymov was Joachimsthal (lit. St Joachim's valley) - the silver coin was named just in short version "Thaler" (dropping the Saint Joachim) From this "Thaler" the Czech Tolar and the American Dollar derived.

    This is an exceptionally great video, congratulations. I'm Hungarian, so I don't live that far from the Czech Republic, but unfortunately I've never been there so far. Maybe one day I can visit Karlovy Vary. It looks gorgeous and the attractions are very interesting. I'd like to suggest something for a future video. If you could show us Prague's pro football teams' stadiums (Bohemians, Slavia, Sparta, Viktoria Zizkov), that'd be cool. I know this subject wouldn't be too exciting for every tourist, but I'm sure there'd be viewers who would enjoy the tours. Slavia's new arena looks fantastic in Google Maps. :)

      I don't think so because they teamed up with the city specifically to promote this card. Btw in case you were wondering the 350 CZK price for 2 days is less than 14 EUR which is really good price

      @@mloxard-9321 to be HONEST: Becherovka is 11 years younger, since it is the Czech name used after 1945 after expelling the Becher family of owners and founder. The original "Becher" or „Karlsbader Becherbitter" might be 127 years older.
