I have a 2009 bmw 750i and i have got a transmission malfunction that came up i took it to the indy where i live and he took the transmission filter and oil pan down he said that the transmission oil had not been changed in the car since it was built so he put fresh transmission fliud in and check all the solenoids and they were working find i goto pick the car up today before i got a mile away it starting with the rpm shooting up and the car losing power so i brought it back to him. Once we spoke he said thaf the transmission needed to be reset. Does this sound right to anyway? All advice will be helpful Thanks
after a tranny flush it’s always recommended to reset it as well to relearn driving habits. but if it’s losing power then there might be something wrong with the motor - potentially a misfire or something which needs to be checked out via a code reader
@@RickyMoto I haven't had any engine problems just the transmission malfunction warning is it possible that the sleeves on the valve body could be bad? The code that I got was P0763 which it was the Shift solenoid C so imma have my mechanic look into those possibly to see if that's the problem but thanks for the advice if you can think of something else please let me know Thanks
I tried this and it may take care of the problem with the error but my 2016 BMW 3x F25 shifted gears on me to ' parking ' while stopped at a red light and then again at a stop sign. I drove it a short distance around where I live but have been concerned about driving it any distance. Any inputs out there?
Ooof if it’s automatically going into park u might wanna get the trans looked at. Unless it’s the auto start stop feature enabled where the motor shuts off to save fuel at stops
i drive a 2014 bmw and it’s your start stop if you get a transmission malfunction pop up it’s usually do to a false error because your cars not getting enough battery power if you get a check engine light the code will probably say “tcm power input low” and you can search that up and see all the diagnostics
@@muhammadmirza1690 make sure your engine is in operational temperature. Park the car on a flat surface. Press and hold break firmly till the end of the procedure. Now with your foot on break pedal shift from P to D slowly, spending approximately 5 seconds in each position. Once at the D, go back in the same speed. Once at P, turn of the car (key off the ignition) and release the break pedal. Wait couple of minutes, should shift better. Note it’s not a complete “factory reset” as transmission makes decisions based on many factors such as fluid viscosity and so on. It’s only resetting driving “patterns” to adapt to your own driving style. I have a recent strange issue on my 320i. I noticed that the gear Selector indicator light (green) does not come on in the console. The gears however, shift normally with corresponding indicator on the instrument cluster. What could be the problem…and remedy?
hey there i’ve seen that before and it’s the gear selector led that has gone out of either the wiring isn’t done up properly. i’d check the connection under the trim if it’s still an issue then either some wiring would need to be repaired or the entire selector would need to be replaced. personally if it works still then i’d leave it alone since it’s costly to replace such parts and it’s not an absolute. but just my 2 cents
@@RickyMoto thank you…yes it’s quite a bomb in terms of cost…I don’t know exactly how this just happened…was absolutely fine the day before…I did take it to the designated dealer…who recommended replacement.
My transmission is inconsistent, and jerky when coming too a stop , shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is something jumpy too . I have a 2014 428i speed auto
this should help reset it, if not you might need a tranny flash. after i did that it felt like new. also i did a transmission tune with bootmod3 shortly after and it was even better
@@RickyMoto yeah I’ll try and see if it works , I’ll take out to a transmission shop Monday see what they say if they don’t fix it I’ll try this method
2013 X5 115k went into Park when stopped. Thought I accidentally shifted it. Same thing happened to Service Manager at dealer. Cost me $2000 to replace Trans Module.
I have to try this. I have a 04 645ci with the iDrive screen not working. Car starts fine and in drive it doesn't shift it all. I can almost get to 90+ mph. Just won't shift
if theres underlying transmission issues mechanically it won't make much of a difference. this reset is more so to allow the system to relearn driving habits to shift smoother (if all components are already in good condition)
Keep foot to the floor until you turn the car to the off switch after 30 secs. Then, leave off for 2 minutes before you restart.

Thanks to this video, got stuck twice because the shift gear of my X3 was not working, did exactly what the video says and miracle happened👍👍
glad it worked!
Nice video! My ZF is very jerky during full acceleration under Sport+. Gonna try this method out and report back!
i had a transmission flush done a few months back and that helped too
Any success?
What were the results?
who knows lol

Thanks bro. Your video was usefull. My transmision feels better now. Not perfect, but much better.

Hi Brenda my 535i does the same shift to park , have you had any luck with that fix you can share ??
This is a throttle reset NOT a gearbox reset LMAO. The placebo effect is real 😂😂😂
What’s the gear box rest?
What is the gearbox reset
Whatever it was it definitely helped
The same info this guy gave. BMW of Dallas has on the website. On how to reset your transmission.

DID IT ON MY 03 and it’s now stuttering at idle in drive. And there’s a service motor light on. Any idea what’s going on????
i’d check if your getting some sort of misfire
Does this mess up an mhd tune
@aarongates4996 nope, although if you have a transmission tune i’d suggest doing a reflash incase the reset wipes it

After this reset my gas consumption doubled. Why is this?
the reset is gonna relearn your driving habits - in theory gives a calibrated MPG reading based on your how you're driving.
What is the gearbox reset!!! Tell me!!
It resets the throttle response and relearns your driving habits so it shifts smoother. Not a permanent fix esp if u have transmission problems
