      Once I had all the parts I had it done in like 2 days, granted it was sun up to sun down work, I burned through a lot of nicotine and caffeine, the difference in power is very noticeable, I can smoke 32.5 inch tires, I love the way it sounds, I love the throttle response, my only complaint is that when I do highway travel and I break 75 I feel like I’m riding on a rocket ship, but that’s more of the Jeep than the supercharger

    The idler pulley is the identical, you do need a longer bolt as well. I need to figure out how to do this with AC because I converted one into an air compressor.

    Hahaha. Oh man!
    The power steering bracket is so annoying. There are two bolts in the front that are easy to remove. There is one bolt in the back that holds the bracket in between the block and engine mount. Meaning you have to remove your drivers side engine mount to get it off.
    I was at the junkyard with my bag of tools expecting to only take about 15 minutes, never expecting to need an engine hoist to remove the ps bracket 😂
    So what I had to do since I didn’t bring my hackzall with me is I bent the bracket back and forth at the point where it attaches to the block for several minutes until finally the metal gave and snapped right off.
    What I then did when I got home was, I grabbed my hackzall and cut the old bracket off my Jeep and left a piece remaining stuck in between the mount and block. (About 2 inches) I then got the new bracket from the junkyard and cut the back mount off at the same spot I cut the one on my Jeep and then made it an inch shorter in length so it would not hit the old bracket that still remained. It’s held on now by only the two front bolts and it’s been working great!
    A lot easier then removing your engine mount!!
    (Reason I had to remove the ps bracket was because I had a bad ps pump, shot bearings, and no hoses or resivor (just pump alone running dry) before so I eliminated the pump and I bent my ps bracket and rigged it with a pulley. I put in place a pulley to get the serpentine belt to fit without ps pump. I bought a new ps pump with the bracket eventually and struggled with the bolt in the backs
    Hope this helps someone out there that one day has to deal with that bracket!

      I bought 1/2" thick because I want to try something with captured nuts in slotted holes. You do not need it to be that thick. 1/4" may work but I recommend 3/8". The Supercharger is roughly 30lbs and jeeps do a lot of bouncing around lol.

    Not supercharging a Jeep 2.5. I've been interested in supercharging a SOHC 16v 2.4l 4G64 that is being installed in an 87 Dodge Raider. I too am looking at running only about 5PSI. Monster power isn't my goal. My main reason is having performance at higher altitudes when I go to Colorado. Since I am going the Megasquirt route for controlling the FI ( the original engine is a computer controlled carb), I'll have a lot of things in place to handle the controller aspect already. Yes, it's an odd choice for this motor but the "clutchability" and low end torque is what I'm interested in. Yeah there's a lot of resources out there for putting a 4g63 DOHC head on this engine but the fitment issues in a RWD configuration create issues that are, IMO, equal to or greater that going the SC route.

    Hey, I've just downloaded all the service manual for SLK and I found this info on the manual "The coating of the rotors of epoxy resin is resistant to oil and fuel". So you can basically spray gas without any issue. Btw, I’ve done the same retrofit with an eaton m62, a bit difficult cus I kept the AC. I’ve uploaded a short on my channel if you want to check how I mounted that supercharger. Thanks!

    • @bccosmin3720

      @@JeepSheepTV I think my previous comment was deleted because I've added a link to a picture explaining the new belt routing. I'll add a video in about 1-2 weeks. Regarding the fuel system I will use and Arduino mega that will get the rpm from the ground wire from ignition coil + a MAP sensor. I already created the code to make the auto-tune using a wide band sensor. Based on the AFR I will inject the fuel(using the 5th injector) accordingly to the RPM/Air-Pressure map. BTW, did you manage to replace that vacuum flap with the electronic one from Mercedes? I have one.. but I think I should convert the 5v PWM to 12v PWM to make it work.

    • @JeepSheepTV
      @JeepSheepTV  2 роки тому +1

      @@bccosmin3720 no, I still haven't hooked up the electronic throttle body. I've been occupied with building another jeep. When I made my bypass controller I used a PFET to switch at 12v from the arduino. The PFET should be fast enough to handle PWM when I try to control the electronic throttle body.

    With supercharging this little motor do you have to do anything to the internal components for reinforcement? Also, how does this effect the life of the engine? I guess it isn't too hard on the engine since is such little boost and you aren't using it all the time.

    • @JeepSheepTV

    So out of curiosity, can this be applied to a 2.4l?

      Anything is possible. I don't know a lot about how the 2.4l is set up but I say go for it if you are willing to learn something new.

    doing some ebay research looking into this build. all i am coming up with is the Eaton M45 work from an older SLK230?? looking into planning out a build for this possibly on my squirrel powered rust box

      The m62 is from an older model year but it should be out there. The m45 will also work but I'm not sure how well it will fit if you keep the factory plumbing

    Can you do this with a stroked 2.5?

    • @JeepSheepTV
      @JeepSheepTV  3 роки тому

      You can try, I'm sure since your engine requires more air the "boost" provided by the supercharger will be a little less. Other than that it should just be tuning. Did you have to do any tuning adjustments for the stroker?

      Currently just 3 psi. I'll plan to increase it later once all of the bugs are worked out.
