Mark Lewin is an unsung hero of Professional Wrestling!!!!! He drew money everywhere he went!!!!! As a child growing up in Miami, wrestling was syndicated. I’d watch Memphis, Mid Atlantic, World Class and of course Championship Wrestling from Florida where Mark Lewin was doing his thing with Kevin Sullivan Bob Roop and Sullivan‘s ministry of darkness you talk about classic Mark Lewin sure was…and very innovative!!!!!!!!!
In the northeast, way past his tag champ days, we picked up a show here and a territory there for a while, and with Mark Lewin, Mike Awesome and Austin Idol there was a quality and character that I was hooked on when I got to watched them. Really something else on another level.
Wow. Thanks for posting this Mark Lewin interview. I'm guessing it's now one of the few available if not the only one -certainly the longest and most detailed.
Mark is a favorite of mine. Saw him wrestle a lot when I was a kid. From what I understand he was one of the boys nobody messed with. Love this interview. Thank you.
My wife and I listened to this interview and agree that Mark Lewin sounds like an incredibly likeable person who would be a joy to meet, talk with, and have a couple of drinks with. He also scares the hell out of us.
I wish every shoot interview would include a date of recording, so many dont, & I hate having to try to figure it out myself. Otherwise, thank you Highspots. I spend many hours watching your content.
Good interview,Mark was loved by all my family. Mid 60's Sydney Australia. There was one question the interviewer asked him why he had not returned to New York to wrestle. There was a match between him and Cowboy Bill Watts which had something to do with it. The New York State Athletic Commission gave Mark a life ban from wrestling in New York again.
"Maniac", The Purple Haze, Nark Lewin was one of those characters that was so convincing that you could easily imagine that he was really like his persona. Such a quiet, soft spoken and intelligent interview.
One of my childhood favorites. Mark has always been a fascinating person. He achieved so much. I enjoyed hearing from Mark you could talk for hours with Mark. I was actually surprised the interviewer didn’t talk more about Kevin Sullivan and his purple haze run, Mark seemed surprised to. It was talked about briefly but cmon the famous video where Sullivan called the Purple Haze from the ocean goes back to when I was a kid glued to the tv, Best wishes to Mark he looks great. Purple Haze👍
Very interesting to see this interview. So much historical background. Mark was big in Australia too. It amazes me to see how well he looks for his age in this fairly recent interview. So true what he said regarding people feeling they thought he was from their town or city. I felt that in my home town of Melbourne Australia as a kid. Very popular down under!
I would have loved to see Mark team up with Mr. Wonderful (Paul Orndorff). When he was with Kevin Sullivan and Bob Roop that was an awesome time to watch wrestling. The old days were golden.
Man this guy’s doing real well for his age. He’s practically outlived like more than half the guys that I used to be a big fan of back in the 80’s. What’s his secret, not doing steroids?
Mark was renowned to be a huge advocate of psychedelics, predominately LSD. I believe he's tripping during this journey down memory lane, especially the workout he's giving that wad of gum. 😂
Did you know what you are describing is a mild form of ocd. Most people wouldn’t really pick up on his gum chewing but for a few people like yourself it is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I don’t say it in a bad way ….. I just took some psych courses back in college
This is awesome! The person interviewing is my new, favorite interviewer and Mark Lewin interviews are rare! Thank you for releasing this.
Always love hearing stories about this man

I trained alongside Mark and Kevin at Athletes Fitness Center in Tampa back in the 1980s. Mark was a freaking BEAST. Very nice guy, and Kevin as well.

I loved Lewin. A total badass…
Awesome to hear him talk about Gary Hart and The Great Maphisto....
Did the great mephisto' have something in his boot when he was wrestling in Australia in the 19 70s.
@@mickirving6779 Idk? I was born in 1982 in the great state of Texas
I grew up in fla. in the 70s - 80s . Purple haze the maniac Mark Lewin .
Mark is one of the true winners of the pro wrestling business!
This man was built like a body builder and walked like a stalking leopard. I didn’t see him often but but on Florida tv
How does the Cow Palace come up in the discussion with nothing about Ray Stevens???
One of my favs when he was a face in Detroit

Sullivan was the wrestler who mentioned Lewis’ name for the first time. He told that Mark was quite a tough guy. I guess I have to believe him…
Mark was a tough son of a bitch.....dangerous dude 4 sure....
Has been my hero for a very long time and reme

I was born and raised in Buffalo and remember my dad used to run in Delaware Park in the early 70s.
PURPLE HAZE !! LEGEND THE MANIAC MARK LEWIN IS THE MAN 2:41
Never seen a shoot interview with mark lewin before. He’s comes across like a mafia member 😆
Good grief...The Maniac still looks like he could get in the ring at time of interview. Wonder why we did not see more of him hanging around ..
one of the greatest heels of all time w manager Gary hart
Back in the day he looked like Flex Mentallo, but here he looks like Gary Hart. Hope we are all so lucky when we're his age.
This interview was done over 15 years ago, keep that in mind.
When talking about the New York scene, I'd love to of heard more about Monsoon, Bruno and guys like Killer Kowalski and some of his matches with them.

This was recorded like, 15 years ago.
Oh
A luntsman too. 😊
He looks so different here.
Mark looks like a Russian heel now
This interview is over 15 years old right. Kind of hard to judge what he looks like *now* by this interview, no?
The gum chewing ruined it for me
couldnt last 5 minutes with the gum chewing
Did you know what you are describing is a mild form of ocd. Most people wouldn’t really pick up on his gum chewing but for a few people like yourself it is like fingernails on a chalkboard. I don’t say it in a bad way ….. I just took some psych courses back in college
@@vivahernando1 you probably right gum chewing and people eating with their mouths open drive me insane lol
Not while tripping on psychedelics..watch his eyes roll back periodically
This is amazing thanks for posting this
