I hope people don't forget how cool Wei Pai was, but I figure this makes it so that 1) newcomers can feel more motivated to see what these 5 have done while 2) giving veteran fans a nod toward some Shaw Bros. favorites they might have. Plus, how this video highlights their strengths is a good way of teaching and/or reminding some people of what they were all like at their best in while also leaving others curious/hungry for more; either way, it's another job well done!

Sun, I believe, is not an alumnus of a Chinese opera school. Lo Meng, who also does not have any training in Chinese opera, has given his account (in a 2016 interview) of how he joined Shaw Bros.-thus being notice by Chang Cheh." I saw an ad in the papers advertising that Shaw Bros. has opened its first Martial Arts Actor Training Class". " Chang Cheh wanted to make a movie about Shaolin Temple that need a lot of stuntmen for martial arts training in a scene outside." " I thought it (the ad) was funny, so I joined (the Class)". The Five Venoms aka The Five Deadly Venoms (1978) gave Chang a chance to continue to become successful and move away from depictions of excessive taking of life and 'same person' bonding that is in his widely known and often referred to Wuxia movies.

I am a huge fan of these guys, although I have to say Kwok is my favourite. I know they don't have the same level of respect that Chang Cheh's first team get in terms of acting chops, when it comes to choreography, they were hard to beat in their day. I have a real soft spot for Ode to gallantry, its really overlooked. Great video brother, fist and palm salute!
