Its amazing to think you could have seen the Cure at Port Elliot in a big old stately estate. Even so I think I'd only want to go on the Saturday (£5 for a day ticket). I guess you could go earlier and walk around the gardens! I can still remember visiting my friend and him playing me Xmals' fetish. I can also remember being at HE college in Southampton and a guy came over said did we want to see a new band play (they had just formed and it was free). I asked what the name of the band was and he said 'The Smiths' As the crossword is still blank, how about a livestream to fill in in? 🤣
Indeed a strange venue for The Cure - perhaps Robert Smith used his National Trust discount card to go in! Thought you would like to see the XMal and New Order stuff in this issue. That's a great anecdote for nearly seeing The Smiths.
Very well spotted! The feature does mention him by name as being its guitarist. There are no quotes included from Paul, just by the singer and main writer named Dave Cummings.
Great video, I'm a fan! Could you do a NME video "this day in history"... like this was the NME on this day, Sept 25, back in '82...
Thanks for the idea!

@@Vinyl-Heaven-And-Hell2023 you can't find anything by them unlike Ricky Gervais band ! Wonder what they were like ? He looks so young!
The gigs pages are like a glimpse into a lost world before the Tory party killed the University circuit.
2:48 Said Paul Weller _enigmatically_ : "French boys are the most beautiful in the world." Ooh, er, missus...
