  • Wardour Castle is close to the small Wiltshire town of Tisbury. It lies 15 miles west of Salisbury. It was built in the 1390s and fell during the English Civil War.

I read that there's an underground passage from the castle to, I think, the edge of the lake. I've only ever found one reference to it. Possibly it was a convenient access to the lake.

That’s interesting and quite possible. Thank you for your comment.

@@rolandstravels it’s around 25 years since I visited the castle, but I vaguely recall seeing a blocked-up arch in a retaining stone wall by the lake.

thanks very much for your video, really friendly staff when I visited, dog friendly, wished I'd seen your video before our visit, the sat nav did indeed take us down some very narrow roads, (not dirt tracks but nearly!) I thought we were going to end up in some random boggy field, however when we got there "worthwhile" . well worth a visit.

It’s quite scary on those roads. No passing places or way to turn around! Did you go over the railway crossing?

Sometimes I do. It depends on background noise more often than not.

      Hi Yvonne
Have you left another comment? I can see the one about commitments and this one. Is there another?
