I saw you live today on TikTok and you were amazing. So I came to your UA-cam channel and I’m hooked!! I love all of your footage, history telling and all the stories. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and for educating us. Love this!! ❣️
The cleverness of Anglo-Saxon folklore is subtle at times, yet bold at others. The first story gives me the impression that if you memorize something, then you have it. Any of the children that memorized it, received the book. 😁
Thaaaaank you Nancy!!! Isn’t this area spectacular!!! I knew I had to make an episode here when the autumn leaves were changing! Thank you for watching!! 💚💚💚🏴🙏🏻
Hey I'm from Andhra, India. I read a book that my Dad bought in 1994 my 12th year titled 'King Alfred The Great' [Ladybird]. From then on I loved Alfred builder of Christian England.
There's some lovely drone shots in this. We used to live not far from Stourhead and loved visiting there, especially in the Autumn as the colours are stunning.
@@EvelynEdwards I live in South Wales and have great access to the castles - a few of which I've flown at as seen on my channel. If you are ever looking for a CAA accredited drone operator in South Wales let me know! Carreg Cennen is on my list for over the Christmas break.
Incredible video! I never knew that tower existed and I can't believe people in the 1700's had the technology and ability to build such tall structures. The footage is beautiful. I can't wait to see more videos. Thank you!
Isn’t it an amazing tower! There is a spiral staircase inside so you can view from the top. (Closed right now). The whole area is just so beautiful. Thank you so much for your kind comment! Autumn leaves and an amazing historical figure make my job easy! 😉😉💚🏴🏰🙏🏻

A+ grade quality all the way through, Evelyn! Your a wonderful ambassador for history - your storytelling and the video & drone footage are exceptional. I must say though... my favourite bit is..... you face when you say hemorrhoids... 🤣 It's like you turned into an 8-year old kid and just learned a cheeky word. It made me laugh so much that I clicked the back button multiple times to watch your facial expression. But seriously, we're so lucky that you create such beautiful work and share it with us all. 😊
Hahahahah! It would have been weirder if I had have said it all stoically ... “and the poor dear had lots of pain in rectum.” 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂 At least I made you laugh. 😉 Thank you so much for your kind words Ian. It makes it all worth it. Truly.

Also growing up my grandparents on Dads side in Shaftesbury where you could see the tower from there also. great video with some nice history.

Outstanding Episode! The scenery and conditions were absolutely amazing! You could not have scripted better conditions and then the golden light on the tower with the valley enshrouded in mist was so dreamy, it was as if we went back in time. Really enjoyed how the story of King Alfred was told along a walk instead of simply standing at the tower. Exceptional work you guys!
The lushness of the gardens after you give the intro make me think of the intro to "The Masters" golf tournament with its bucolic gentleness. Niiiiiice. Wait...a four-year-old...memorizing all that? Brilliance. And a wonderful philosophy that stemmed from it. It's hard to pay attention to all your points about his traveling music...because the drone footage is so awesome! Great problem to have. Wonderful story about the loaves! What an innovator. Do you know why the tower was triangular? Was it something about his own journey? Was it trinitarian in motivation?
Thank you so so much for your comment Sorgi!! You made my UA-cam blush! The whole area is so beautiful even I have a hard time paying attention to myself!! 😉 There was no reason for the shape of the tower other than for it to be pretty. Hoare wanted it to be the crowned jewel in his property. 💚🙏🏻🏴
