Never own an expensive knife before except multi tool and victorinox...got 940-3 in australia for first time when I hold in my hands it felt like out of world thing...omg magnacut ...shaved my both hands, cut vegetables sliced eggs ...prepared a meal...what a lovely feeling to have it in your palm...bonus can serve as only survival knife too...good spine at back to strike fire steel too... worried about omega spring ...this version has omega spring in burnt copper color...I am all over the place...moral of story ...I will give this knife to my son when I will die...such a keeper ...thanks benchmade lots of love...

@zachstuff , The 940 is here to stay. They'll always show it love, at least for another 20 years or so as steels continually change they adapt the 940 in them.
Gonna be my first benchmade. I’m going with the normal size axis lock one.

@@zachstuffyea I’m pretty happy about it. I will be honest, I have been critical of benchmade in the past. But I think they came correct with the price this time haha.
And I have been wanting to try one out for a long time. Almost pulled the trigger on the infidel back in the day. Almost caved and bought the magnacut 710. And then almost caved and got the gold class immunity. Didn’t want to drop the dough on them though.
I think in the end it’s all gonna play out just fine.
The blade finish is very appealing. The copper scales might be a bit too 'fancy'. Is this the only option with that bkade for now? The magnacut steel with that iconic blade and the wash would look great with lots of other scale options IMO.
Great looking knives. I have full size already. I will pick up the mini later. Got to have both. I've become a huge fan of the 945 after finally getting one this year. Perfect little EDC.

Good looking knife but I hate the open back things can get in the blade that way I just throw mine in my pocket and it rattles around with keys and change. Want a solid Backspacer that way nothing gets into it from rattling around in your pocket

Thanks for sharing, I’ll definitely be getting the full size one for my first 940. Why does the mini have the outdoor and everyday on the box and the full size version only has everyday on it? I really appreciate everything you do for the knife community.

Very beautiful knives! I have been wondering if the 940 had a closed back with a back spacer like the original. Disappointed to see it has an open back. I'm sure they have a spacer somewhere I could buy though. I was talking on your live stream earlier about the Bugouts. Mine was a tribute to for my dog who passed away a month ago so, I, had her name printed and a cross printed on it so, I, won't be selling it. I just, can't believe they cost 200+ bucks! I bought a satin CF Elite Presidio II that was 200 bucks too and it feels so much more durable and solid. I wanted a storm gray Bugout, but I'm passing on that now. Been trying to decide what 940 and what 945 I'm gonna get. I like this a LOT! I also love the standard green and satin too though lol. It's a bit of a conundrum! At some point I may just get both.
That is a wonderful tribute to have on a knife Eric! Appreciate you sharing and I know Rock Scale Design makes a titanium back spacer for these kind of 940’s.
Yeah I am hoping they drop the prices across the board in 2025. Would really allow more people to enjoy their products.

My next purchase is most likely going to be the full size Adira. It reminds me of like a water Griptillian and the Griptillian is one of my favorite knives ever. I can't remember but I think you showed them in a video? That mini Presidio 2 you have with the dark earth aluminum is REALLY nice! They have so many models I, want but I have to pay off my affirm account a bit before I can buy more lol. At some point I'm gonna make a video about the Benchmades that I have, just haven't had time lately. Thanks for sharing! It helps when deciding which ones I want next!

I have the 940-1. I am wondering how the mini feels in your hand. I have large to xl hands. They look awesome.
I have been carrying the 945's over the mini bugout since they came out. Having L/XL the 945 may be a little small. Maybe only a 3 finger knife for you, but feels good for me with the L hands.
Doesn't make any sense to run low HRC especially with the blade geometry on 940. Looks like they are just cutting corners on heat treat or cryo to save a few dollars on their cost!
I'm going to switch out the anodized aluminum copper scales with the titanium from Benchmade.

Best looking 940 blade from the collection. I choose Pokemon 940 burnt orange evolved.😅 I dig the burnt orange, it was my old motorcycle color.👍

The black battlewash blade would look good paired with the carbon fiber scales.
7:30 the Bailout is starting to look really interesting worn because of the texture of the milled Al-best I’ve seen so far.
I have a scale on the 535BK-4 that I can tell visually is milled thinner than the other side, kinda weird.
I think I would prefer the 940 to the 945 (although I’ve never held a 945), but if I really had to choose… I’d save a little more money and go for the 710 instead of either😂🤷♀️

Their new water line’s presentation is a nice touch.
But Benchmade’s packaging is far from the worst of the premium US makers-I think that award would go to Spartan. You get a simple corrugated cardboard box and a knife in a plastic bag-truly spartan.

ElCap I would LOVE to see BM do the embroidered zippered pouches!! You would probably enjoy the 940 and I know the 710 would be a fun one for you too!! I am a fan of the washed blades or darker stonewash. The main reason I had to do that swap on my Ti 940 (Thanks Alaska Todd).
940 and 945 in Magnacut? Yes please! You think $50-60 price increase is justified compared to the 945 in s30v?

Looking at the original backspacer, they are a bit slimmer and would create a pinch due to the scale milling. It would look cool with the OG spacer!
This Benchmade Osborne 940 in magnacut with its burnt copper anodized aluminum handles and a full battleworn treatment looks significantly better than the magnacut Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with its ugly looking milled black G10 handle and fully black coated blade👍
Spyderco makes good knives not beautiful knives. Benchmade the other way around.
@jordy703 So you're basically saying that Benchmade doesn't make good knives🤔 I completely disagree because the Benchmade Osborne 940 is one of the greatest EDC knives of all time👍
@@ThomasConnolly Spyderco has one of the best production knives but sure they don’t look that fancy. Benchmade made great knives in the old days. but almost everyone in the knife community agrees that they now make nice looking fancy knives but the edges and heat treatment on their knives is bad. I had a griptillian and a 940 so I do like they’re models. But the quality and pricing is bad and sad. You get more out of you’re money and better products at Spyderco

Back in 2012, you could buy a standard Spyderco Paramilitary 2 with satin S30V blade and digicamo G10 scales for $115.00, now that same basic Paramilitary 2 costs $198.75👀😬 Don't get me wrong, I really really like Spyderco, but the Benchmade Osborne 940 is my favorite edc knife of all time👍 Personally I prefer the axis lock and the more robust blade of the 940 over the less robust blade of the Paramilitary 2 that flexes and has a delicate tip. The blade of the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 also has a weak spot where the blade transitions/is thinned down from the choil to the blade. That transitional line meets the spydie hole and is a fracture point. My favorite Spyderco knife is the Spyderco Zulu designd by Jens Anso👍

Wish they didn't go with barrel spacers. It lost some of identity with back spacer.
I like both. The spacers would be good for rinsing/cleaning.but maybe milling the scales & insetting the barrel spacers or thinner barrel spacers & keeping the original overall width .?.?.The overall dimensions of the original are so popular. Why change that?

I’m just now getting familiarized with the green 940 & 945 & now these came out. Trying to decide which one to get. Only getting one. What do you mean by “the flat ones “exactly? I know I want aluminum or titanium(metal scales for sure)you guys know these knives & all the variations throughout the years. Would love some guidance on which one to be looking for. Even if it’s a used /preowned one .hard to tell with online shopping. Would be great to know a place that has a bunch of these that you can pick up and feel the action and other subtle differences between them. Probably somewhere that you could do that around where they’re made,but I’m on E coast..inland a little…NC Sandhills area. They all are pretty nice but if there’s any that stand out to y’all please LMK.

I don’t own any BMs. Like the 940& 945. Gonna need to find a place that has the green and the new colors & hold all 4. Pick one,get a mini deep carry clip & feel it with OEM CLIP & mini deep. Like the Parkerized finish clips better than the shiny black. & being an expensive knife,plan on it being in my pocket sometimes rather than clipped on the pocket. Might eventually trust the mini deep clip to not get snagged on something,possibly even the way the 940 rides with the long clip. Won’t know until I try both. I have done stuff like leave camp while hiking & left my knife stuck in a stump,dropped one good one in a river while canoe camping. Wasn’t paying good attention while fishing and had just used the knife for something,didn’t put it away immediately after,spazzed out and bumped into a row of rocks that were going across the whole river. I think it was a old Native American fish weir that was missing some rocks because it was built 100s of years ago. Was a hour + pain in the rear,but, that particular F up turned out ok. More than the knife went over board. I wedged my canoe between a couple of those rocks and started diving down & getting my things back. Found everything & even the short little 3’ Ceader paddle that was balanced on the gunnels behind me. Use a secondary small paddle for small corrections/straightening the boat out while drifting . Had to keep eyes on my stuff on the bottom of the river or chase the paddle.That was not a hard decision. It was hung up on a small patch of grass a couple miles & a couple bends down river.%100 recovery.Had to share the luckiest boat F up of my life .back on topic…pocket clips are the reason why I’ve lost more knives than anything else. On a bad run with that. Worst ever. 4 $50-$80 Civivi paraxis’ in a row. The worst clips EVER!Snagged many clips of many knives.bend them back into place and they will work for at least a while. Might even snag & bend back twice but generally lasted Until I have the chance to get another one on the knife. Not Civivi!Never felt a thing on 2nd snag!x4!! Last one was damascus.Combined price of those could have bought a 940 or 945 & a couple extra clips from them to try out. Oh well. Think we’ve all been there.

PS. I am not a collector. I have quite a few that are nice.have bought 2-3 in the $150-$300ish range but that’s the highest I can go. Others are Gifts,inherited a few of them and the rest I’ve accumulated. If I buy one of these, I am going to put more effort into not loosing it than with any other before. Maybe a small pocket organizer would be the way to go. Never tried one.
Would love to get a 940 to add to the collection, just can't pull the trigger. But thank you Zach!

Still a very underwhelming heat treatment, Benchmade. Really? 60-62 HRC? It's already been reported closer to 60 HRC. Magnacut doesn't start performing as it should until 63 HRC. Pick it up!! Hard pass by the way.

Mine are not magnetic on their own. Of course 🧲 will attract to the steel. Haven’t heard of the blades being magnetized.

60-62 HRC. It's already been reported closer to 60 HRC by other reviewers. Too soft for Magnacut. Low performance is what you'll get.

They are typically overpriced. Now these copper anodized ones are even more overpriced.
Magnacut and anodized aluminum at 270 is a better deal than what benchmade normally has. Shit spyderco is charging 270 for blades in s30v with g10 so🤷🏻♂️

I mean, your getting anodized Aluminum versus, Grivory or G10, and getting DLC coated Magnacut versus Cerakoted S30V or S45VN. If you buy off BladeHQ, the difference between this in the Mini and a base model Mini is $54. Not an insane price jump for objectively better materials. Expensive, yes, 100%. But slightly more worth than a normal Mini
